One year our family turned our egg hunt into a scavenger hunt and put clues to the next egg in with the candy. The uniform size and shape of the eggs also makes it easy for kids to tell what's actually meant to be part of the game as opposed to something that's there by coincidence, and if you're dealing with kids who whine about fairness, you can label the eggs with a sharpie so that they get equal loot once everything is found. There's lots of advantages to using the plastic eggs.

>>153104566Even back in the 80s my parents used plastic eggs for the egg hunt, you can put a veriety of things in the eggs, not just candy. Chocolate was reserved for the easter basket.
