What does people think of Season 9 Simpsons? Alot of people think the writing in this season dipped in quality like Principal and The Pauper episode, The meanspirited christmas episode, Homer pronouncing Gym as Gyme, Soviet Union episode, etc. Also flanderization of characters happened and the show got way more meaner than the ones that came before (Golden era) or after (Al Jean Zombie era)
Also IMO the seasonal rot started with mike scully era aka the middle seasons
>>153105268This is indeed when things started to go downhill.>>153105276>middle seasons9 through 12 is not the middle of 37.
it has 4 showrunners so the styles are all over the map although by the end it feels much more Scully-ish
>>153105268>What does people think of Season 9 Simpsons? it alright
>>153105268there is still some great episodes but the forgettable outweighs them. The only episode I actively dislike is Lisa the Simpson which I think it's a much bigger red flag than the others since the show's reality bends over for Lisa and it stops being funny
>>153106878More or less. It's mostly forgettable, but it's got a few decent episodes like Joy of Sect.As for the whole of the Scully era, I honestly don't mind it in comparison to the solo Jean era. In fact, I'd rather it over, say, the transition to HD in Season 20.
>>153105268There are some genuinely good episodes in S9: City of New York vs Homer Simpson, Cartridge Family, Reality Bites, Miracle on Evergreen Terrace, Joy of Sect, Das Bus; also, weirdly the last three episodes have a loose theme of Homer improving relationships with each of the main family members. In King of the Hill he and Bart bond over Homer's attempts to get into shape and Bart expresses pride in him for trying to climb The Murderhorn, even if he didn't succeed. In Lost Our Lisa he bonds with Lisa, Homer dispenses some uncharacteristically sound fatherly advice about the importance of taking chances in life, and the two share a quiet moment together in a museum. In Natural Born Kissers he and Marge rekindle their physical and romantic intimacy.

There are some good season 9 moments but if we are doing a straight cutoff at the season mark, then 8 is the final one to me
>>153108610Is she pregnant
>>153109110Nahw she jus pudgy~
>>153108610>>153109076Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! I've always wanted you to try Simpsons stuff! Now do the twins!
>>153105268Quality dipped in Season 8 which is about half and half great and garbage but yes, Season 9 is the last with really any quality episodes at all except for the sterling exception of The Mansion Family in season 11. By any sensible assessment Season 9 is the last season.
