I really wanted to like this one since it was the only short previewed years ago that had a good art style, but it was pretty meh.I like the artwork but I’ve just seen this exact concept like 5,000 times before. It’s kind of like a worse version of Wander Over Yonder in a way.But yeah, kinda seen the whole “what if big scary guys treat the cute character as a huge threat” thing done to death, the jokes in this would be funny if I hadn’t seen them for the past 25 years already.

Perhaps if the show was picked up then the status quo would be her being the leader of the bandits and that could be more interesting, having some conflict with what and how they do things. Heck, maybe even putting her philosophies to the test when faced against people who can't be nice to, like a moocher who just eats everything they have because that's what being nice is about. It's biggest strength is the visuals. Harmony herself is a bit generic but serviceable, but the Mad Max crew has nice variety and some sharp angles to them making them leagues ahead of anything else. Animation too was actually pretty good at times, that wolf creature seemed to have some frame by frame done to it as it ran. That booba lady was also a welcome sight. She even had some jiggle physics on her breasts.

Maybe it’s just the utter lack of a personality in Harmony besides “ overly nice and likes all the generic nice things like muffins and sparkles”. It feels like writers trying too hard to be funny instead of making the character endearing through a real personality. I think this pilot’s biggest issue is how two-dimensional it all feels. There’s not really any unique personality going on. Even the designs they went with, the “scary guys” are just recycled Mad Max visual language and Harmony is just a bunch of “calarts girl” designs mixed together.

This was easily the best of the shorts. It was like a Shakespeare thrown in next to a bunch of stick figure drawings in terms of cartooning. At least next to the other traditional CN-style ones on the list. Felt like something one of the old CN guys like Craig McCracken or Genndy would have made. I watched that Samson one right before this and it was like night and day.
