There are two episodes I still remember vividly in how fucked they were.The first one is about a kid who is a little shit who killed spiders. One day though the kid kills a mother spider who is pregnant for fun, but then in the dead of night, the untold thousands of baby spiders crawl out from their mothers corpse and pour into the kids mouth while he sleeps.The second one though is probably the darkest and wackiest I remember. It was just a story about a kid who refused to eat spaghetti despite his parents warning him that if he didn't the "Spaghetti Man" would kill him and mince his body into spaghetti strands. The kid continues to refuse and the Spaghetti Man kidnaps him and churns his body into spaghetti.It's not a graphic show by any means, but it uses context and implication horribly well to scare kids for what it is.

Even the eductional programmes got in on the act sometimes - I distinctly remember watching Look and Read: Through the Dragon's Eye, which was a mostly low budget series for six year olds with fuzzy ewok-alikes, silly brightly coloured helpers, and also undead bird satan as the main antagonist.
