>this kid didn't like his vegetables
>so he got sent to actual fucking Hellraiser hell and his parents didn't care
>the end
No wonder British """people""" are so fucked
>>
pretty good show
don't forget the episode where the kids stole some apples from a barn and then had their dog shot and they all died from poison and they got gutted
>>
>>153114078
...you have to be making that up
>>
>do some littering
>eaten alive by a tide of rats and bugs
It’s a fair cop, innit
>>
It’s always funny to me that people point to stuff like Animals of Fathing Woods as being a sign of how messed up kids shows were in the UK because there’s one frame of fieldmice dead on some thorns, when Grizzly Tales existed.
>>
>>153114117
I still dare not go into fields due to a PSA they used to play in schools of a kid getting shredded up by a combine harvester
>>
Hey now. Most of those old heinous fairytale stories are Germanic.
>>
genuinely a fucking great show aside from the animation quality. I ate my fucking spaghetti after the episode with the spaghetti monster.

My brain keeps thinking he’s holding a shotgun.

>No wonder British """people""" are so fucked
the tales and morals where from all over europe.
either way, its not our fault americans are nancies and get spooked by a fucking show aimed at children.
>>
>>153115439
i recall being told this as a kid
>stop frowning, if the wind changes your face will stay like that forever
>>
>>153113434
Everyone talks about how dark and shocking the show is but I think what also mad it all work together was that the show was legitimately funny as well with Nigel Planner doing all the voice work and genuinely good dialogue.
>>
>>153113434
I like the one where they lambast the Famous Five nothing supernatural, just a crazy motherfucker ready to grind them into cider. Is it all still on Youtube?
>>
>>153119096
https://youtu.be/s8BEgPKNVFg
It is. I wonder how many kids know the word “scrumping” after this episode.
>>
>>153119209
"scrumpy" is a name/varient of cider, made from apples, i always assumed it was made from crab apples.
its been around a long time before that cartoon so if anything the word scrumping was probably used before the cartoon was written.
>>
>>153119209
The stop motion segments are great, but the 2D sections which make up the majority of the episodes always seem cheap and rushed.

I refuse to believe England is a real country.

Cool

Adds to the humor imho

There are two episodes I still remember vividly in how fucked they were.

The first one is about a kid who is a little shit who killed spiders. One day though the kid kills a mother spider who is pregnant for fun, but then in the dead of night, the untold thousands of baby spiders crawl out from their mothers corpse and pour into the kids mouth while he sleeps.

The second one though is probably the darkest and wackiest I remember. It was just a story about a kid who refused to eat spaghetti despite his parents warning him that if he didn't the "Spaghetti Man" would kill him and mince his body into spaghetti strands. The kid continues to refuse and the Spaghetti Man kidnaps him and churns his body into spaghetti.

It's not a graphic show by any means, but it uses context and implication horribly well to scare kids for what it is.
>>
>>153113434
Stop-motion is so cool, I always forget how many British ones slipped past me over the years
>>
The ones that immediately come to mind
>Kid who refused to eat healthy food gets kidnapped by witches and got turned into nuggies
>The red thumb gardener
>The boy who got jealous of a butcher's kid's bike only to be killed by the butcher who turns out to be the kid, the father and grandfather
>The boy who was jealous of his baby sister pretending to be a baby until he turned into a baby and got kidnapped by werewolves that his family hunted for centuries
That last one could be a fun one as a standalone story.
>>
>>153116227
huh.. I parody of the famous five, I must've missed this.
>>
>>153114347
That's not even the worst part of that show, it just shows up in compilations because it's the most obviously bloody moment. What about the plot about the pheasant's wife being shot, then the next day he goes looking for her and sees her body roasted for the farmer's dinner, and is so upset about it that he commits suicide by letting the farmer shoot him?
>>
>>153114078
>>153113434
Oh...I think this is awakening some deeply repressed memories

Whats with this century that people are so awerse to fucked up stuff appearing in Kids media? Every cartoon manchild gooes "Ehhh Yikes that woudn't be good for little kiddes" as if kids are not intrested in that stuff or that they cannot Access even worse shit with a few cliks on the Internet. Als calling it "Childhood Trauma" is retarded. Choldhood teauma is when you've gotten molested as a kid not because you watched scarry cartoon.

Kids do love that stuff but but at the same time there were a lot things that went further on UK kids tv than in the US imports. Even the eductional programmes got in on the act sometimes - I distinctly remember watching Look and Read: Through the Dragon's Eye, which was a mostly low budget series for six year olds with fuzzy ewok-alikes, silly brightly coloured helpers, and also undead bird satan as the main antagonist. And even that wasn't as intentionally frightening as some of the older public information films like The Spirit of Dark and Lonely Water, which had Donald Pleasence explaining that he would kill you dead
