When Joseph Campbell wrote his book he was making note of repeated patterns and how they related to the human nature. To our sense of history and psychology. If you recall, Mask of the Phantasm has a scene where Bruce chooses being Batman over being happy with literal tears in his eyes, and Epilogue contrasts Bruce staying with Ten to her death against him pushing everyone out of his life to show him as a complicated person with demons. i think there is definitely a line you cross when you start viewing a story only through its tropes. Its a reason why a lot of modern books advertise on social medias with what kind of tropes it has (enemies to lovers ect ect, being generally tagged like an ao3 fic, which tracks given the origins of many authors)

But i also think being super into tropes and aspects of stories is totally fine otherwise. Like on its face i dont think what red does is bad, she just likes to talk about random shit in stories, i dont think even she believes that this is some ground breaking literary analysis.
