You now remember that time both DC and Marvel tried to make their own mecha comics. The fact you forgot about this is a testament to how successful they were.
>>15311925990% of comics are completely forgetful and its been this way for decades. whats worse is when the plot sounds amazing and the first couple of issues are great and then its just absolute shit(nice house on the lake)
>>153119259The irritating thing is that DC and Marvel mecha could work but they need someone that understands the genre and how to design giant robots. You can't just do the same stories in the same universe but with big robot versions of big name characters. You have to be kind of transformative. SP/DR and toku Spider-Man are liked or fondly remembered because they actually tried to be mecha reinterpretations of the characters instead of just putting the Hulk or Superman in a mech suit for no reason.
>>153119259>instead of making a new mecha universe with completely different characters, they did it in the laziest and most unoriginal way possibleBut whatever right? It would still be bad, but if it was something from the 80s or 90s I would read it
>>153119259>The fact you forgot about this is a testament to how successful they were. The cope levels are off the charts.
>>153120956>one of the big two actually making an original mecha focused bookSee, the problem is that there's nobody in either company who isn't solely a cape writer. They can't do other genres anymore.
>>153119259I read this Tech On Avengers story a little while ago and I have to say it was just okay. It's more a failing of the comic rather than the genre. I guess it was a decent excuse to make more toys though.

>>153122359>everyone is Iron Man!I want to talk shit about this, but everyone being a tech hero is pretty much exactly how I'd do a superhero universe. Also, I kinda dig armored Captain Marvel.
