The Kents being alive isn’t inherently bad, but it rarely works out. They were at their best in the early Post Crisis across all media, as if writers enjoyed the novelty of getting to use them again, and it helped that those writers weren’t terrible, and didn’t hate superhero stories, as is now the case. Writers today, yearning to unleash their inner Whedon, latch onto and abuse any opportunity to write talking heads quipping over lunch, and the Kents give them that. If they can’t be integrated into the plot more effectively than that, they shouldn’t be there.
