>>153129689I'd argue Blue Marvel is worse as the writer just did another Superman but ripped off Sentry's forgotten hero gimmick and took away any flaws at all because his special black donut steel must be perfect and can't be accused of being a gary sue because racism. But then again I actually like Sentry and the mental health aspect is interesting to me and it works because of the silly power level. >>153129689He isnt Superman at all. The whole point is that he could never actually be Superman because of the inherent aspect of the Void. The best Bob can do is fade away so Void is never a threat. That's it, that's the character. I love it, it's a great story, but it's unfortunately limited. You cant retell it over and over and if you stretch it too much you loose what makes it work.
Since they had Knull kill him I can't imagine there will be any other fate for Sentry than to just the same jobbing over and over in an attempt to show just how supercool whoever the new villain-of-the-week is. At least in ensemble stories. They may well do that in the liveaction too, since they have Sentry in that. And the character doesn't really deserve that. Just depower him and give him character development as a man trying to do his best as Bob.
