First thread here, mates. Is anyone excited for Toy Story 5? What are your expectations? Normally, I wouldn't go see the movie because, even though I'm a fan of the films, I didn't see the value in the fourth one. But I promised my sister I'd take her to see it with me, so... will the movie have as many ideological messages as the fourth film? Feminism, etc.?
>will the movie have as many ideological messages as the fourth film? Feminism, etc.?I know pixar turning bo peep into a girlboss was stupid, but come on.
>>153133677>will the movie have as many ideological messages as the fourth film? Feminism, etc.?Wow was that a serious question or are you trolling? What Western film today doesn't have feminism to begin with? We already know that Jesse will be the new girlboss after Bo Peep.
>>153133677>expectThere's a theory about Andy coming back, even if the chance is -1, it would be cool even if it was through the tablet or something.>>153133702>>153133690Yes. The girl bossification of Bo Peep is so pandering to me and probably the most forced feature in modern Disney movies. It's like the studio is trying to atone for their past by forcing existing characters into this bad ass, quirky girl stereotype. It's insulting. A female character can be "strong" without dropping sassy remarks and kicking ass. It's okay to be delicate, feminine, entle and flirty.Plus, we already have a character like this. JESSIE! And she is infinitely better in terms of writing, because while she's tough and edgy, that isn't all she is. She's scrappy, but kind. Fearless, but vulnerable, etc, etc. Bo just feels like an insincere apology from Disney. There's no reason for this film to exist.
>>153133735It would be so forced and out of place for him to come back that I don't think it would even be right.
>>153133746Yes, but I think a minimum reference would be good.
None of you will believe this, my brother-in-law's son who works at one of Pixar's many offices, and it seems some people already own a copy of the film, and people seem to speak highly of it, saying it's like the third film.
>>153133677I don't recall Disney or Pixar ever claiming TS5 would "end the franchise." It's just another sequel is all.
>>153133677>I promised my sisterLeave, normie, ree
>>153133677I don't like the further muddling of what gets to be considered alive. It was always a bit arbitrary but as long as something was considered a "toy" in the first three it was alive. In the last one a plastic fork came alive when it was modified into a doll, something the other toys didn't expect as if no child ever made their own toys before, which gets even worse when the fork was somehow aware of its original purpose despite showing no signs on sentience before. Now this one has a tablet computer being alive despite never depicting such technology, not even game consoles, as alive before. Which just raises the question if all computers are alive or just ones with a cartoony casing? So like... Would most N64s not be alive but the Pikachu branded one would be?
>>153135227Remember when Etch a sketch was alive?
>>153133677I'll go watch it because I've seen the first four all in cinema when they came out, so its kind of keeping up that traditionI think it could surpass 3/4 quite easily
>>153133677I didn't care for toy story
>>153137056The first one? Because that's pretty good, what's wrong with it?
>>153135227The logic is as follows: if a child plays with a certain object, the power of love gives it life; in the same way, a video game could come to life>>153133735This
>>153137056Yes? good for you
>>153133735There are no women like Bo Peep. Grow up and stop acting like a schizophrenic.
>>153137184You again....
>>153133735It's confirmed that Andy will return.we have his voice actor at Pixar Studios.
>>153137390>>153133759This could mean anything. Andy's mom returned in the 4th movie, but it was a flashback of less than 1 minute. Andy could return as a flashback.
>>153137418And what about that theory that they (the toys) could see his videos through the tablet???
>>153137650>theory
>>153133735I'm just tired of the "girl-bossification" of female characters. And ofc Gabby Gabby, had to be "redeemed", because we can't have a "negative" female role model for little girls.
>>153137836What theory are you talking about?
>>153138665This theory is a bit incel but cool. Basically, they're saying that our favorite Latina won't really want to use the toys anymore, like 2/3 of kids do nowadays, and as the story unfolds, her mother would instead of throwing them away or donating them to other children, simply give them back to whoever donated them in the first place. That's where Andy comes in; he probably already has children, and he would give the toys to Andy. Andy didn't even want to donate the toys at first
>>153138706Unlikely
>>153138224Bopeep originally being a gentle and graceful character made a lot of sense considering she's made of porcelain. She HAD to be careful and slow‑moving to not risk breaking, and that care and elegance became reflected in her personality. It's pretty genius character writing.New Bo is the complete opposite. Reckless, fast‑paced, arrogant, and smart‑mouthed. I see the writers were trying to go for a "this character is fierce and leaps at danger" But it's not Bopeep anymore. Not the one Woody was in love with anyways. She was wrong to be reserved and feminine, and the new Jesse will be the New Girlboss leader now
>>153140669>>153133735i hate the fact that every single female character is now being reworked into a "girlboss" archetype. it's weird to teach girls that the only valuable and cool way to be a woman is to be sassy and bossy. i just once want to see a female character reworked while keeping their old traits and just expanding on them in interesting ways.
>>153141265I m a girl btw
>>153141265I'm tired of the "girl-bossification" of female characters. And of course, Gabby Gabby had to be "redeemed" because we can't have a "negative" female role model for little girls. I think it would be great if they explored her character, perhaps not in films, but in short films or canonical comics, and mainly on how she met Woody. But even if that happened, they'd likely engage in pathetic gaslighting, like they did in the 4th film's flashback. We'll never have characters like her again because someone said it's essentially wrong and a bad influence for girls, and being delicate and sweet is wrong.
>>153140669>>153142403>>153133735What's wrong with being strong and independent? It's much more interesting than being a boring personwith one's tail between one's legs who does nothing but sit around.>MUH le feminine model saar
>>153133800Nobody believed that story of yours, coper.
>>153133677Failure
>>153133677I'm mostly expecting old guy ranting. The entire plot of this movie appears to be the animated form of the typical boomer rant about >"them damn kids with their noses in their phones! I'm not really interested in seeing 2.5 hours of boomer rants about how the damn kids and their tablets again. I can get that any time there is an old person around when using a phone in public. It's like making a kids movie in the mid 80s that is nothing but a thinly veiled rant about how bad Mtv is and how no kids should be watching that. Or a movie in the early 00s about how dangerous and bad skateboarding is and how no one should be skateboarding or listening to Blink 182.
>>153142714Ironically, this is the plot, haha, it's not even Toy Story anymore at this point.
>>153142714Ok boomer
>>153133677I expect it to have a basic bitch milquetoast "some screentime is ok" message, which really doesn't apply to kids that are Bonnie's age.
>>153144601Hey boomer
>>153141265You will never fuckin believe this but open season call of nature with gazelle is the best case of keeping a girls personsality intact and expanding upon in
>>153145015*Personality *itThe rest of the show was almost perfect too and kicks the sequel movies asses
>>153142495The problem is "strong and independent" in modern American media is code for "reckless arrogant self absorbed prick".Bopeep exhibited actual strength, wisdom and patience in her previous portrayal compared to 4.
>>153133677I'm sad people are saying Jessie and Woody are related now because i always shipped them and I thought the show they were from would make them a couple. It seemed obvious. Now they're siblings? That's just a copout that wasn't even needed because Jessie was already with Buzz.
>>153142495kill yourself
>>153146357>Bopeep exhibited actual strength, wisdom and patience in her previous portrayal compared to 4.No, she didn't>>153146436Cope, shitty "submissive" characters are souless
>>153145034>>153145015I don't understand, sorry.
>>153146357So, From what I can see, you're a first-wave feminist, my friend?
Look! That idiotic feminist who dilates every day about the original Bo Peep is back! Anyone who replies to her is mentally retarded. Simple as that. Shut up foid>>153146429Actually, Woody was always Bo Peep's boyfriend, so it was kind of impossible.
>>153147360Nobody agrees with you, obsessed.
>>153133677I love Sheeen, he is so awesome
>>153144549Ok zoomer>>153144867Hey zoomer
>>153148074The world won't care about your antics because you lives rent free.
>>153146357Which is more powerful, though?
>>153133677Can we expect something that we don't?
>>153133677TheArchitect.jpeg
>>153133677What do I expect? I expect it to make a bajillion dollars because people are fucking SHEEP and something like Another Toy Story Sequel sells itself
>>153149395Did you see the nonsense she pulled in the other thread? She considers herself a feminist and cries because people prefer the old Bo Peep.
>>153152283Cry, my baby
Is Bonnie gonna want Jessie even though she loses her hat and gets dirty?
