>show about four teenagers>no mystical magical item they're trying to protect>just coming of age experiences and learning to live in society>they all have different insecurities and fears instead of just being bicurious>each of their different cultures and identities add variety to the episodesdo cartoons like this exist anymore?
>>153141146They do, they just aren't as good
>>153141146It also had Lor the best tomboy depiction.
>each episode begins and ends a problem>no cliffhangers meant to stretch out an issue over an entire season>characters can be wrong and hypocritical and the most important thing>has actual tomboys
>>153141207My brother, also yeah love lor. She's a rare tomboy love she's a mix of a jock and the dumbass of the group, but also still feels like a girl.
>>153141146I used to think everyone in this were elves because of their ears and they just happened to live in a modern human like society
This is the show that got picked up out of sympathy because the executives thought the creator was raped by his mother right
>>153141623>The Wee Kenders
>>153141146It was kino through the sheer power of well-written dialogue alone
Nope, because kids didn't want them
>>153141146>they all have different insecurities and fears instead of just being bicuriousCan't you have both?
>>153144341No, because there's no point in making characters faggots if you aren't making propaganda.
>>153141146What do you think is a better representation of childhood in cartoons, the 3-day long story arcs of the weekenders, or the perpetual summer vacation of Ed, Edd n' Eddy?
I liked the final episode about Tino's dad turning up and at the end Tino stands up for what he wants and gets his Dad to listen without a zany scheme. It's still as low stake as the broader show but it's also an important character development moment for Tino and a nice note to go out on.
>>153141146The Weekenders was bloody awful to watch.
>>153141146This show was way too smart for its audience. The comedy writing was on par with a show for adults.
>>153145102>The Weekenders>Dave the Barbarianthis mfer was spitting
>>153142300More like for having a well written mother, tino's mom was so based
>>153145896She was indeed hot one
>>153145938His dad must have been a fool, a smart cool headed chill milf and he abandoned her
>>153145965His lost
>>153144463EEnE was closer to my childhood, doing dumb shit around the neighborhood.
>>153144011maaan I need this
>>153146015I don't remember him but you aren't lying someone's going to knock the cobwebs out of her. damn is that first image sexo shocked she doesn't have more art.
>>153141146This aired at the same time as Pepper Ann, right? So weird that DTV randomly had two coming-of-age shows where the main character had divorced parents
>>153141146They're still around but are so plentiful and unremarkable that no one here even talks about them. Even animation twitter doesn't care.
>>153141146>pizza place always changed theme every weekWas the owner ADHD?
>>153141646Yes
I remember liking this less than Recess when I was a kid, but in retrospect, it was probably the better show.
>>153147436weekenders fans are normal, you cannot bait replies with stuff like this. >>153148631now that's more like it
>>153141146a reminder that Tino/Tish/Lor is a top tier OT3 and we desperately need more content for it
>>153149337
>>153141146Tino and his mom being pagans was certainly a strange decision
>>153146814That was pretty much the standard for kids at the time.
