Why is it that every YouTuber or streamer that covers /co/ related content is always either extremely autistic, extremely self righteous, extremely political towards whatever side they choose, or all of these mixed together.I get that liking comics and cartoons as an adult is consider manchild behavior, but it seems like /co/ has way worse options than /v/ and /tv/
>>153147971What would (You) do differently if you were a /co/tuber?
Normies are idiots who love drama. Youtube rewards people for being loud, not for being reasoned.
>>153147997I would never do it in the first place. I just want decent background noise related to topics I enjoy
>>153147971It's the internet, being autistic about anything is a requirement at this point.
>>153147997Never talk about Bluey, Thomas, or MLP
It surprises me that no animation-focused YouTuber has popped up who doesn't have some channel-crippling flaw. I get that finding someone that passionate about animation is difficult without them being weird, but you would think that someone functional would have appeared since the 2000s.
>>153148070They either take animation way too seriously and treat SpongeBob and the like as if they’re the greatest or worst thing ever made, or they make extremely bland hour long “reviews” trying to sound like they did their college thesis on a cartoon. Is it really so hard to just say “I liked this” or “let’s talk about the process that went into making this show” or “let’s examine the culture of the day that inspired this production.” Anything. And why are they always fat, a tranny, or have such a massive autism lisp that they can’t be taken seriously?
>>153148070What flaws would you say need to be absent from such a person?
I just want people to stop pretending like they’re a critic. I’m so over reaction and review content. It’s possible to talk about animation without trying to explain what’s good or bad about it
>>153147997Talk about the things I like and why I like them.
>>153148343That’s what anime tubers do and it’s literally all autistic gooners 24/7
>>153148401I'd rather be an autistic gooner than some pretentious cunt who whines all the time
Fuck OFF nigger
I’d try if I didn’t have the worst high pitch nasal voice ever. People already think I’m a faggot because of my voice, I don’t need them thinking I’m a mega faggot because they heard my voice talk about nerd stuff on the internet
>>153147971That’s who’s most likely to make a career out of Youtube and survive the monetization incentives. You need to pump out videos and hook a big audience without losing to the algorithm. If you like /co/ and become a content creator, you attract the most views if you’re knowledgeable or at least a diehard fan (autistic), controversial somehow (politics), or speak with the voice of authority (self righteous). Youtube is still littered with quality channels by nerds with 20 followers that never breach the algo because slop rules the ad wallet but search will give you the autistic ego politician every time.
what few channels i have checked out have boring ass videos. the first two thirds is usually just then sunming up what happened in the issue which I find boring
perch is the only good comictuber
>>153147971me
>>153148495Unironically go find some voice training resources for trans men and practice.A nice-sounding voice is a learnable skill.
>>153148866>the first two thirds is usually just then sunming up what happened in the issue which I find boringThat's why I can't stand ComicPop, I can't believe the chubby dork with helmet hair is in a relationship with the attractive redhead.
>>153147971Have you tried Lethal Comics? I kind of like them.https://youtu.be/rL0Q1Io8g2A?si=k8zdO5743H4Ztdur
Because if you are a fan of current animation and comics and aren’t predominantly focusing your time on anime and manga then you are usually outside the realm of what most people would call sane. That’s the real truth.
It's a weird dichotomy. On the one hand you have people looking to grift outrage by saying everything sucks. On the other hand you got the people with no discerning taste at all who will praise Tom King. I don't want to hate everything but I also don't want to like it either and I feel like everyone always goes too far on either direction.
>>153147971My favorites are usually channels that interview comic book creators and do not feature female hosts.>Cartoonist Kayfabe (RIP Eddie P)>Millar Time>The Comics Cube>Noah Van Sciver>Comic Book Historians>Jack Kirby Museum & Research Center
>>153149266I did and I can make my voice deeper but it’s hard to maintain, plus I feel like I’d eventually get caught and be mocked relentlessly
>>153148697Sad but true
>>153148051Most of the biggest Youtubers have talked about GR15.
Best one that comes to mind right now is ComicTropes. Dude's house flooded, so i hope he's doing fine now
>Clay faded into obscurity>Emer fucking died>RebelTaxi fell off>Turkey Tom got BTFO by Pyrocynical>Most of SleepyCast fell off and fell off HARD>Not to mention fucking Shadman>DaftPina, JustStop, and Justarobot's ships all sank>StarGiant has been exposed and is on the lam>Lily is now the biggest lolcow in the video essay community>Meanwhile, he's still making vids and still getting views, despite everything he's been throughHe fucking won, bros. You can’t off-center the Enter.
>>153150295eh at least they do banter which is sometimes funny the channels im talking about they literally just tell you what happened in the issue and that's it I feel like it's because a lot of people watching don't actually read comics they just want them Explained to them like it's an audiobook or something
>>153150784>and do not feature female hosts.why not
>>153147997If I had the voice, history of /co/ media videos
>>153152608>He fucking won, bros. You can’t off center the EnterYeah sure. But what kind of fucking legacy is this, man?Rebel Taxi atleast managed to make a phony pilot for his wanabe show, in addition to probably getting pity sex at a con once or twice from a female autismo.
I suspect it is because these are usually general review channels, which have to stay topical to stay relevant. Which means it is conveyer belt content and the creator doesn't consume the media first and foremost because the show is airing and popular. Nicher creators focus on a couple shows they actually care about and post theory content and their own discussions of the show etc.
>>153153062Everyone and their mother does video essays about the history of whatever. That would be the most generic channel ever
>>153147971>it seems like /co/ has way worse options than /v/ and /tv/wider net. tons of people play vidya and watch movies/tv. barely anyone still reads comics that arent japanese
>>153153027Attention whores.
>>153156799surely there are some who aren't ?
>>153148904Perch is alright, garbage taste in anime aside. He's very clinical and matter of fact in what he says. It feels like he actually has something to say rather than GRRR THING BAD.
>>153147971The problem is that anyone who generally reviews, for want of a better term, NERD SHIT, is that it's a very low bar of entry. All you need to do is watch the netflix series or read the comic and off you go. There isn't really a judge or barrier of excellence anymore, if there ever was in the first place. Any fuck knuckle can give their two cents on the latest marvel movie or event and feel like it makes them special.
>>153157459All women are attention whores.
It's all the worse when you don't even need to have read or seen that many things in the first place. I understand everyone has to start somewhere, nobody was born with the innate knowledge of comics or cartoons, and I feel like us in the older crowed might be looking at things with different eyes than the younger crowd. What's rote to us certainly might very well be new to them. And to even older audiences what was new to us was rote to our predecessors. That said It does feel like there is a complete unwillingness to dig deeper than what you just experienced that has only gotten worse with time. People are far too quick to gush about what they just saw without putting any long term thought into it. Now my question is would we have done the same in our day had we the option? Possibly. Very probably actually. The internet age has done nothing if not encourage spontaneity and impulsiveness.
>>153148104>hour long videosThere’s a motherfucker who made an 11 HOUR video about the original Teen Titans. You do not need to make a video about ANYTHING 11 hours you’re just trying to fill up space
>>153158636Is there even 11 hours worth of episodes of the show?
>>153158636I honestly don't get how anyone can get this much time out of anything even classical works of literature. What the possible fuck could they be yammering on about. They would have to stretch the interpretation of every second to get even half that long. And people watch this shit. They won't try the series without vetting it but here's a whole day killed on youtube
>>153158049I don't mind the guy, but he sure does ramble a lot lately. I prefer him over outrage bait garbage like Nerdrotic or Thinking Critical.
>>153147971>Why is it that every YouTuber or streamer that covers /co/ related content is always either extremely autistic, extremely self righteous, extremely political towards whatever side they choose, or all of these mixed together.Cartoonist Kayfabe was none of those things, we didn't deserve it's purity. RIP, Ed.
>>153152608Don't forget >Digibrony talked shit about Rebeltaxi and cartoons on some random podcast, then lost his mind and became a tranny
>>153159181Maybe he pulls Quinton Reviews and goes moment by moment over every single episode to needlessly pad out the runtime and then go on “intermissions” where he tries to talk about the actors’ personal lives and the spin off media
>>153159425>Quinton ReviewsImagine being an adult male in your 30's and dedicating huge chunks of your life you'll never get back to watching endless hours of preteen slop like iCarly, Victorious and Sam & Cat, imagine.
>>153149027You?
>>153159452Not that there isn't stunted adolescence in comics but cartoons attract a special kind of autism
>>153148904No, he's one of the many bad ones.
>>153147971I read that as "/co/ retarded YouTubers".
>>153162680pancakes and waffles
>>153158636>You do not need to make a video about ANYTHING 11 hours you’re just trying to fill up spaceI would argue this for history, you just need to space it out. Actually proper indepth history books can easily go on for hours if you convert them into audiobook form
>>153154353Depends on the topic and presentation really.
>>153158172Every single last one of 'em... ??
>>153147971why the fuck do you care why the fuck do you watch streamers and youtube reviewers
>>153147971Preusmably because your threshold for "extremely" is extremely low
>>153148104>“let’s talk about the process that went into making this show” or “let’s examine the culture of the day that inspired this production.”There's a bunch of them but you ignore them because they're either boring or fall into what you consider autistic or political as it's impossible to broach those topics without sounding autistic or political
Steve Reviews. His british accent is soothing to listen to in the background, his editing style is simple, and he doesn't have an overly animated avatar. I also watch Jackson Fanelli and Awe for Spongetube content.
I want to enjoy Strange Brain Parts, but his voice is weirdly monotone that I can't tell if it's a put-on or some kind of spectrum thing. Also he's non-selling me on Cerebus, he's done a lot of videos about how great it and revolutionary it supposedly is, but it just looks like the most self-indulgent, navel-gazing nonsense. Something about comics with hyper detailed art but a protagonist that's a simple, anthropomorphic cartoon completely out-of-sync with the World around him really turns me off, if you didn't tell me Dave Sim was an autistic Canadian dork, I'd assume it just looking at Cerebus the comic.
>>153158049>garbage taste in anime asidewhat? i only ever hear him talk about one piece which is awesome
>>153150295i got to meet them at a con except for Ben. chill dudes (and lady) sal was taller than i was expecting
I still get nostalgia for watching early RebelTaxi during hazy summer evenings. He had a kino music selection too with some of his video editing.Shame he's a glorified failed podcaster troon now.
