>>153155572 I've een thinking about what could have made the Jeizuma arc work a bit better. I feel that if it was a gradual thing rather then all at once it would work better. Like Inazuma is still pretty much herself at the end of Grasscutter, maybe has an episode going crazy and killing the monks immediately after Jei 1' death but otherwise once she comes out of blackout seems to be in complete control. Recongizes Keiko as the girl who saved her and starts travelling with her, and as it goes on you see more and more of Jei creeping into her personality. Maybe have Keiko be a directly corrupting force telling her to enact the will of the gods. Would have been more interesting in giving us more of Inazuma and would also aleviate Kusanagi not finishing Jei if his coming back was something hard to do as more required corrupting another individual from the ground up.

I'd still have some standalone inazuma chapters where she's normal at the begging, and only goes into jei mode at the end, until one day she can't get out.
I said I have something to show you guys: today I received one amazing gift, sure to envy any aesthete: my very own Sichuan (am I writing this right?) black clay tea cup, directly from the Land of the Dragons! and I have none other than my friend Enmanon, Master of Jigoku, Judge of the Dead, Great King of Hell, etc. etc. to thank for it. I am deeply grateful and eternally indebted to your immense generosity. I will proudly display it as a sign of our friendship, the annual storytime, and that good karma does, indeed, exist. to christen it, I wish to make a toast for all of you, and for Stan. (I don't have any fancy chinese tea around, nor any of the proper instruments for a tea ceremony, so at the risk of insulting the entire tea drinking culture I'll drink some chilled mate tea instead mate cozido for you cono sur fellows Kampai!

I always thought Usagi was being a little much against mayumi tagging along but yeah most of his other companions had been fighters or fighters in training and particularly he did notice someone was watching him and the weird samurai power level detection thing they have going on is shown to be very real so Usagi was probably feeling jumpy and nervous the whole fucking time since he entered that town.

>>153156111I didn't like her as a character. >>153155594They have some money, and this was an especially egregious offense. It's enough to galvanize a lot of beggars with a little money to pool their resources to hire someone to make an example.

>>153156198Man, that would've sucked. Also doesn't make any sense, as we clearly see things from her POV for a good chunk of this arc. The narrative would've been actively lying to the audience, like that's a David Cage/Heavy Rain tier asspull. I'm glad he realized that just wouldn't work at all, but this does explain a lot about her behavior in some spots.

>>153164165The Hakkenden is good if you want to see people getting screwed over by feudalism. There are a number of different Hakkenden adaptations so make sure you look up the one with "The" in the title.
Just while the threads dying I want to get another favorite Feudal Japanese anime out there. Yotoden aka Wrath of the Ninja. Trio of ninjas (no not those ones) battle Oda Nobunaga in the sengoku period.
The Hakkenden.>>153164222Oh you beat me too it. That one was really interesting. Lot of different animation techniques on display.
There have been a few Dororo adaptations. Even a kind of cool game on the PS2. The most recent anime is SUPER FEUDAL. Party is Over.
Tsukikage Ran. Not so suffering but decent show with lady samurai. you guys like those right?
I don't think I have to mention Ninja Scroll but did you ever feel like some things have been YOU DON'T HAVE TO MENTION for so long that it wraps back around to you needing to? That's weird right?
Hyouge Mono has been mentioned many times
>>153164190At a guess, that particular plotline was completely dropped somewhere between >>153155693 and >>153155755 being written. There's still a few pages where slight alterations to the dialogue would restore the original ending. Like her not asking who Shizukiri is or >>153156024, which could easily be her telling Shizukiri not.to underestimate his opponent. At a guess, the original version probably had some abbreviated version of the informant scene that would have cut off with Shizukiri revealing who he was, with her revealing herself to be Koroshi offscreen and then next showing them in the forest. The other town sequences would have only came in after Stan changed the ending.
Was sold in the west as a sequel to Ninja Scroll when it really wasn't so a lot of people were rightly confused. It's actually based on a book called Makai Tensho which was also made into a movie starting Sonny Chiba. The OVA is incomplete.
I'm still livid.

>>153164566Pretty sure Inazuma was intended to be outright the Best with a sword in the entire series even over people like Katsuichi and Nakamura Koji.
>>153164655I saw people say that was some bullshit in a previous thread and I kinda agree. Koji and Katsuichi both spent decades focusing on learning swordsmanship while Inazuma spent like a year learning sword tricks. Like sure some people just have the affinity but by all accounts Katsuichi had a similar affinity and then spent years training on top of that. She's still easily one of the top 5 swordfighters and I could even buy she's the FASTEST in keeping with her name, but I'd still put Katsuichi and Koji above her. Even if she was faster I think they'd be able to factor that in and find an opening.
>>153164165It was so fucking slow. I didn't finish it. It's obviously from the time when anime was filled with pointless filler. Also the dissonance between mecha and regular swords and arrows didn't work for me. Why did the floating kettles fall down after being hit on the surface with a few arrows? How did the samurai kill giant mecha with regular swords? Sorry, it crossed from "awesome" to "retarded" for me.The starting episodes in the city were fun tho.I have to watch the actual original movie sometime.
