He can't remember having played with Rusty as a kid despite the evidence, he believes butterflies raised him because he camped near them as a kid for a few days, considers them leaving him behind to be just as or more traumatic than his parents dying and has dedicated his adult life to a vendetta he literally don't understand the origin of himself.Seriously, I took his realisation that he had been "arching himself" in the movie to mean that his whole thing with Rusty amounted to him actually hating himself and that he subconsciously understood they were clones of the same guy, allowing him to redirect his self loathing at someone else without ever understanding that's the reason why.

Blue Morpho's gonna become a mindless cyborg nanny anyway and having his "kid" around doesn't benefit Jonas so what does he care?Malcolm just hates Rusty because of both his own self-loathing that he definitely inherited from the Rusty clones and from when Rusty took his toy car from him which made him cry when they were kids.
