The Batman cartoon thread.I never really gave this show a chance, I wasn't impressed with it's take on Joker and stuff like that, but I've heard it has a really good Clayface.
>>153161971it had the unenviable task of being a follow up to BTAS, so people were going to be extra critical no matter whatbut the extra emphasis on kung fu action was cool
>>153161971Star Trek TNG "grew the beard," this show "grew the chin"it was embarrassingly juvenile before that. then it got good.
>>153161971The stupid character embargo at the time messed it up. Like, I'm pretty sure that Clayface was supposed to be Two Face but they couldn't use him because he was in the Nolan movies for like two minutes. And the Huge Strange zombie episode should have been Scarecrow but they couldn't use him for the same reasons.
It has its moments. You just have to accept it's different. The Dracula movie is good. I liked season 4 of it a lot. I must admit that it does a better job with the Bat family than the DCAU.
>>153162416that's a funny way of saying 'the DCAU largely ignored that bat-family crap because it's the cancer that kills superhero franchises'
>>153161971>I wasn't impressed with it's take on Jokerreally? i thought Joker was fun as hell. i don't usually like him being a physical threat to Batman, but this show did it good. same for Marilyn Manson Riddler, though i do wish he showed up more
>>153161971The only “main” Batman villains I liked were Mister Freeze, and maybe Firefly. Mister Freeze consistently beat ass.But the real strength of the show was the original, or loosely adapted, characters, like the Save Point Guy, and Everyman, and the weird non-Batman villains, like Mirror Master’s appearance (Smoke was a great addition, she should be Canonized)
>>153162090It's so bizarre to me that this existed at the same time as the Nolan movies. My understanding of the passage of time is so fucking borked.
>>153161971They all got FIVEHEADS lol
>>153162416*looks it up* This got 5 seasons??
>>153166076Yes, filtered Anon
>>153161971It was a mixed bag of quality. For what it's worth, it had one episode that was better than 99% of TAS.
Danielle Judovitz’ Batgirl > Tara Strong’s BatgirlAnd while Arleen Sorkin is the best Harley, Hyndan Walch’s Harley is also better than Tara’s Harley.
>>153161971Had some of the best designs for some characters imoStill the best Manbat to date
>>153166168I liked Harley's design in this show too. Its so cute.
>>153162090The Scarecrow one worked out for the better, since everyone knows what Scarecrow's deal is. Huge Strange isn't the same giveaway what the twist is.
>>153166235Mainly because most didn't know who Hugo Strange was beyond his one BTAS episode where he was just a conman posing as a psychiatrist.
>>153166218It really was
>>153161971This artstyle made some characters look fucking perfect and others fucking terrible. Example: Barbara- perfect, her Batgirl costume- fucking terrible.
>>153161971it's got some great animation and the clayface story is probably the best attempt at an adaption of the killing joke.
>>1531619712nd best batman cartoon
>>153166385
>>153166200 I remember how manbat that actually managed to reform and how Batman later in like I think the last season.
>>153161971It's no BTAS, but it's not trying to be, and it still ends up being pretty good.
>>153166168I liked tara a lot in DCSHG
