Why do people get so angry at indie creators wanting to monetize their hard work?
>>153175654Can't wait til Glitch is inevitably bought out
>>153175654The problem is that it looks like milking. If it was communicated from the start that this would happen, noone would raise an eyebrow.
NOBODY cares that Glitch wants to make money and have theatrical events, the obvious issue is that they made it a two week early event essentially spoilercucking millions of people. Had they timed the theatrical screening and the youtube episode on the same day, people would be thrilled. Now stop sucking corpo cock.
>>153175654Is the blue checkmark like a certificate you get for being a fucking retard or something? Someone should make a twitter mirror that is just twitter minus all the checkmark accounts. The site would be orders of magnitude better.
They are children. all the adults moved on to indie comics which are an actually mature medium.
>>153176148used to be you got it as an award for ideological compliance, so being a retardnow you have to buy one, as in pay money for a little icon next to your name, so still being a retard
>>153175654The source of the money is people
>>153176055>The problem is that it looks like milkingThe problem is not even the milking. Had they made the last episode pay per view for 2 weeks, people would be angry for a bit but that's it, but it is a theatrical release that very few people are going to have access to.Hell, a theatrical release for the ending of a show in general is already a god awful idea. Like half the shows that air their final episode on theater have the plot leaked days before when the theaters get the files/tapes.
>>153176148>Is the blue checkmark like a certificate you get for being a fucking retard or something? It's a sign you're paying a monthly subscription so Elon will give you the privilege, so yeah.>>153176181>ideological complianceIt was for being a public figure/institution, so everyone knows it's you and not someone impersonating you. But you knew that.
>>153176201Plenty of examples of right wing people not getting one. It was for ideological compliance.
>>153176216Sorry your favorite niche YouTube ragebaiter wasn't found to warrant one.
>>153176195So don't listen to spoilers and wait for it to go up on youtube. This isn't as much of a problem as you think it is.
>>153176216>Plenty of examples of right wing people not getting one.Such as?
>>153176253>So don't listen to spoilersI'm not getting entirely off the internet for 2 fucking weeks for any show. And even if I was, the split release ruins 80% of the fun which is coming here and to other sites to shitpost about the show.Anyhow I'm sure someone will either record it or rip the files straight from the theater, so we'll all likely be able to watch it at roughly the same time anyways.
>>153176055Also of they were gonna do this, why not just make a proper Digital Circus movie after episode 8/9? It would have done huge numbers.
>>153175654If it was an actual bonafide theatrical release with multiple showings a day for a week, I don't think I'd care as much. The way they're doing it, every single showing in my city has sold out, every showing in every suburb of my city has sold out, and the only tickets I could have gotten by the time I realized the tickets had gone up (surely sold out by now, since this was hours ago) were in the corners of the nosebleeds in a town that's a 3 hour drive away from my city, which I opted against. So now I'm damned to get spoiled by "hilarious" trolls who will spam this in the chat of every online game or anywhere else unless I go full hermit mode, and even then I'm still liable to get spoiled at my job by some asshole. It sucks.
>>153175654>adult animationGlitch's target demographic is not adults. It's teens.
>>153175790I want Disney to buy Glitch. So many people having a complete screaming meltdown over that, it'd be the funniest shit ever
>>153176972It would be even funnier if apple or netflix bought them. Or, hell, Paramount kek.
>>153176528I thought the same thing, but I guess the plot is just too conclusive to fit a movie into the narrative afterwards.
>>153175654Fan entitlement is crazy high where everything has to be accessible by everyone or you aren't allowed to do anything. Then they complain about spoilers like you can't just avoid social media for the thing you say you care so much about.
>>153176201>public figure/institutionThey gave bluechecks to any freelance blogger with less than 5 bylines in leftist rags that nobody read and died off after Bernie lost again in 2020, or if you were a Weird Twitter troon who had no other qualifications other than being friends with an employee, but you knew that
>>153175654gee, why might people in the 2020s be upset at a basic common sense thing that's been the default practice for centuries?
>>153175790You know what? I hope that tranny does get bought out and gets rich enough to retire to thailand to live out his tranny dreams in peace. Fuck america fuck society.
>>153176989I'm hoping for Disney just to see Dana Terrace lose her fucking mind over her "Did you know Disney are big meanies" copefest show is now owned by them
On another note, I feel like these indie studios are going to New Hollywood themselves out of existence. They'll get too high on their own supply and blow all their money on stupid vanity projects like Heavens Gate
>>153176492>I'm sure someone will either record it or rip the files straight from the theater, so we'll all likely be able to watch it at roughly the same time anyways.Yup. I doubt it'd last for long, but I hope that the Youtube premier event is a massive flop because everybody already watched it on some other channel.>>153177056Social media addiction is a real thing. The only reason it doesn't get treated as a serious thing by most places is because too many powerful people make too much money off of it.
>>153177056Eh two things can be true, fans only see you thanking them for the support and saying they made it possible then turning around to cater to rich Americans as usual and saying the bag always comes first once you catch Hollywood’s eye, so their perception is that you feel entitled to their support when it’s useful. It is what it is.
>>153175654Because "fine" artists spread the idea that making money off your art was somehow a bad thing, and continue to act like wanting compensation for making art is an atrocious thing to do that makes you their lesser(meanwhile they sell their art for even higher prices).>>153176143Gotta give people a reason to see it in theaters rather than stay home.
>>153175654i dont mind that much paying for a quality product
>>153177354>Gotta give a reasonThe experience coupled with exclusive bonus footage is enough for this rabid and gigantic fanbase. There is no excuse playing defense for this franchise malpractice.
>>153175790>>153176972>>153176989>>153177198
>>153177354Stranger Things finale sold out nation wide and they released the episode earlier than some theatrical showings
>>153177275social media addiction is just social clubs and bar crawling but on a phonereal internet, on websites and chatrooms, is like actually having fun with your friends at someone's house, ideally in their basement playing video games.
>>153175654The trade off can make things worse
>>153175654Why do a four day movie run specifically two weeks before the internet premiere? Explain that part.

>>153176175which indie comicsthe ones that say "fuck shit piss" every other speech bubblethe ones that are just thinly veiled /pol/bait that have no substance other than "other side bad lol"or the pretentious slopper ones that just boil down to >i'm a woman/artist please feel bad for me also watch me masturbate lol
>>153176148The blue checkmark is required to promote your posts, unlock Grok Premium, and gain the ability to communicate directly with Elon Musk. For some people, his/her/they online existence in X is important, this why they pay the checkmark.
>>153175654I'm inherently opposed to this idea that TV show finales can air in movie theaters because it's going to be one of the most annoying and obnoxious things I've yet to experience in my lifetime and it's going to have a negative impact on the quality of said shows. Everyone saw this happening when they did it with Stranger Things and had the same reaction, and the fact that Glitch is the next flirtation with the idea shows their not as indie as they claim to be. Also, if they want money they should look into advertizers. Maybe they could do the old school thing where they say: "this episode of Murder Drones is brought to you by Mountain Dew!"
>>153176175Gimme some recs all the ones I've seen are like furry lesbian comics
>>153178645Speaking of which, the Stranger Things animated series Episode 1+2 theatrical preview is next Saturday.

>>153177354>Gotta give people a reason to see it in theaters rather than stay home.the reason is hypei would literally love the opportunity to go see it in a theatre AFTER watching it at homei don't want my first viewing to be an autistic singalong session or a camrip

>>153175654This guy's a fucking chud. I'll spoil him on purpose. Also releasing it in theaters is great because content farms like him gotta fork over the money 1st if they're gonna spam spoilers for their own revenue.
>>153176175LMAONo
>>153178746Nice, thanks>>153178770Point, but counterpoint is that isn't actually the finale of the show. Any me do this thing where they make a movie version of a TV season so that if you want to rewatch it you can just watch a 60-120 minute movie that hits the main beats instead of 12-24 20 minute episodes. For Eva they made 2-3 made for TV movies that recapped the entire series in a streamlined format and End of Evangelion was the end of that trilogy and they changed the ending up a little bit to make it a more novel experience. People just ended up liking the movie version better which is where you get the meme recommendation to watch the show then just skip the last 1-2 episodes and watch EoE instead. For comparison if would be like if TADC released the finale then turned around and released all 8 episodes stitched together into a supercut as a theatrical movie event, possibly with a couple new scenes thrown in and/or a different ending to help with the flow of the story or to make it a treat for fans of the original show. That wouldn't be so bad and is different than just releasing the last episode in theaters.
>>153178925>For comparison if would be like if TADC released the finale then turned around and released all 8 episodes stitched together into a supercut as a theatrical movie event, possibly with a couple new scenes thrown in and/or a different ending to help with the flow of the story or to make it a treat for fans of the original show. >>153178925>>153178974This is simply a test to see if it's gonna do well. One of the theaters near by me, is pretty much sold out already. Sat and sunday still have some seats UP CLOSE but it'll be big. We could get a year anniversary release of the whole thing.
>>153179133yeah but i don't care anymore now that they've ruined the big finale
what glitch should have done>simultaneous release, but the theatrical version has exclusive content like a new musical number, extra character moments, etc>not pivotal to the main plot, so no major spoilers to leak>release the theatrical cut online at a later date
>>153179133I would go twice to this and the supercut if I lived there
>>153179133Im hoping it's an initial flare up because it's new and with a couple popular IPs. When they start doing crap like: "Catch the season finale of Only Murders in the Building in theaters near you!" I think it will hopefully start to fall off.
>>153179288I regret not trying to get Iron Lung to play locally because there was a theater showing it but it was in a very obscure one out of my way. And I mean it that I hope it won't be a dud. it's only an hour long and if you hadn't seen the previous episodes, it'll be very out of context for random people. Also I hope people don't bring their toddlers to it. It's gonna be too depressing.
>>153176492>if I can't watch something when it's released then no one else should be able to watch it either, because I lack the self-control to avoid spilers on my ownGoddamn what a whiny bitch.Spoilers aren't even real dude, it's all in your head. You'll be way happier if you learn to shrug them off instead of sperging out because someone let slip that a character dies in a story.
>>153175654They're fucking sellouts man! Fucking sellouts! It used to be about the art and the integrity!
>>153175654Every time anyone makes it big, there are legions of annoying fucks that screech about selling out or being greedy capitalists. But now people who are used to getting shit for free are now having to pay to see it in a theater and it's the worst most evil capitalistic thing they have ever had to face in their lives.
>>153176143>two week early event essentially spoilercucking millions of peopleLike that shit won't be camwhored in the same night and online for everyone to see within hours. what the fuck are they complaining about....
>>153176143tpbp
>>153176909That's what they are targeting,What they got a weird, awkward adults that mainly watch cartoons and want all entertainment coddled to them. And for free.
I love how that guy just ignores the fact Glitch has been milking TADC with merch since day 1 lol
>>153175654Because most of us work hard too and we don't get to give ourselves raises.
>>153180200And the fact Glitch is funded by the Australian government...
>>153175654The special theater screening almost definitely has more to do with wanting to be eligible for major awards. It’s the same reason that some Netflix films get like a one day screening in theaters. Then they can submit to the Oscars.
>>153181702I don't think a release of an internet series would be eligible for an oscar
>>153176492I haven’t seen TADC since the 2nd episode with that gummy crocodile. I haven’t been spoiled for anything that happens after and I’m always on the internet. Stop being a pussy and just learn to look away when you see something potentially spoilery.
>>153180249They aren’t. They started off that way but haven’t been since murder drones
>>153181702Oscars has some kinda seven consecutive day requirement though.
Have you niggers never watched a fucking movie in your life? The minute a film gets early screenings at film festivals some motherfucker always updates the wikipedia article with a plot summary and you can spoil the whole thing for yourself if you go looking hard enough - hell, a lot of film reviewers will straight up make spoiler filled reviews. How is this any different - hell, it's way better since it's only two weeks. The lag between early screenings and streaming releases for films is months.
>>153175654I don't care about this but I'm tired of Glitch and the "indie renaissance"
>>153176143This, they've monetized the fuck out of the show with all of the merch they've made and everyone loves it (especially considering a lot of it is actually priced really reasonably and isn't overpriced as fuck). If it was a day or two before, or fuck, even a week, there wouldn't be this much backlash. Two weeks is a crazy wait for the finale of arguably one of the most popular shows of all time.
I hope everything selling out inspires more theaters to fucking screen it.
TWO WEEKS
>>153175654>you don't understand, it's actually good to lock the finale of a free series behind an expensive theater paywall so anyone who has no time or money for it is screwed!!AI can't destroy these slimy hypocrites fast enough
>>153175654>Theaters>Profit>pick oneIt's a prestige they go for for thier own ego. Theaters aren't profitable fir fucking movies anymore. It's just got credentials from yester-year.
If you're getting something you like for free, then the creator of it realizes it's good enough to monetize, the freeloaders really have no recourse other than to cry "grifter" and other personal attacks, because they have nothing else..
>>153175654There is a condition called Mentally Ill Retardation. There is another condition called Broke Ass Bitches. When you combine them and add a dash of virtue signaling, cognitive dissonance, and shipping, you get the modern cartoon fan. Around 75% of them, at least. They will rally for higher animator wages but refuse to pay for anything, complain about sexualization of cartoon characters but assign every one of them with some kind of kink masquerading as identity, and above all drive away actual paying customers because they're "the wrong kind of fan."Viewed from the outside, this would all be very fascinating. From the inside, the cartoon fandom is a horrifying shitshow.
>>153176148
>>153183235People are mad because they CANNOT buy it. It unavailable to them
>>153175654I would pay for more Murder Drones by Liam himself.
>>153183418Not everyone lives in America dork
>>153183418>random seething about queersGet a life
>>153175790>100 million for the rights to your circus cartoon, waddya say? I feel like it's gonna happen once Gaslight ends up being a major flop and Glitch starts losing money.
For those watching this from the outside, what the twitter slurper forgot to mention is that the theatrical release is TWO WEEKS before the youtube release. Meaning if you don't live in Japan on NA, you are just fucked for spoilers
Imagine going to this shit opening weekend and having to share a room with obnoxious retards who don't bathe and aren't used to movie theater etiquette
>>153175654Because the American mind is so cucked they can not imagine people on their own making money to support themselves or their dreams. In their mind can only comprehend the massive multinational faceless corporation making things and making money. Only the elite are allowed to do it in the American mind. They have an ingrained slave mentality that they sexually get off on. That's also why Americans love cuck porn. That's how they live and think.
>>153183576So like China unsurprisingly
>>153175790My money is on Goose getting outed as a sex pest (because he's a tranny) and Glitch just dies like rooster teeth
>>153176972Disney is in no position to buy anything and won't be for some time.
>>153183576Isn't that all leftists?
This show is not indie the company behind is not indie, having a multinational theater release is not indie, selling millions in merch is not indie. animated shows with adult themes attract gay people and kids aka "fandom". the show is fun and I'll try to get a ticket but I'm not sure why everyone thinks this is not just another american animation company that cares about money first
>>153178645>Also, if they want money they should look into advertizersPlease. Everyone but bots has Adblock these days.
>>153181713The Oscars do have an award for "Shorts" and it's treated better than Best Animated Feature..
>>153178718He had the verification mark prior to that. So, which right wing persons didn't get the Twitter Verification?
>>153184410Yes anon. The left is famously in love with big business and the hyper wealthy. You must be an American yourself to understand such things!
>>153176253I don't think you use the internet
>>153185852It's quite accurate to say that in America the left/right dichotomy is mostly meaningless at this point.
>>153175654I know this is hard for you to grasp because you are a fat pathetic capitalist American, but art should exist for it's own integrity. Not for money.
>>153179362What the fuck does avoiding spoiler have to do with self-control. No one is complaining because they know they won't be able to stop themselves from checking the plot summary on day 2 or something. They're complaining because to have the normal (but apparently now luxurious) experience of watching something without getting spoiled to fuck before, they will need to :>Get off youtube almost completely (because parasites WILL make spoilerrifics thumbnails on day 1)>Depending on your social media usage you probably need to fuck off those too (not terribly bothersome for me but I get it)>4chan is right off, and I'm not talking about /co/, there is a site-wide guarantee that people will make threads about the finale with posts meant to spoil as much as possible in as few words as possible. Not even isolating yourself to select threads and avoiding the catalogs will remove the risk, you know how some anons get when they smell blood in the water. This would all be a minor annoyance and possibly even fun experience if the delay between theatrical and youtube release was reasonably short, like 2 to 5 days (if you can't do it you probably have bigger problems). But two whole weeks? Did I miss a memo somewhere? Am I now just supposed to be thankful that a company is now actively trying to ruin the experience of their free viewers (which made up about 100% of their viewership) purely to force them to pay for a product they directly advertised will be free early on? Have a missed the small lines that said "free until you're inconvenienced enough to pay for it?"And for what? The merch alone bring them enough money to buy fucking castles. They practically fucking sold out on all theaters on day 1. There's no need for all this chicanery, people would have just GONE to the theaters even if the episode had already released on youtube, so this jewery of the highest order was completely fucking unneeded anyway.
>>153176492>the split release ruins 80% of the funYou had more fun talking with random people in the internet about a thing you watch over the thing you are watching?
