what's going on with all the furry indie cartoons recently? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNM0fCbU7mU
its been an ongoing trend animation twitter zoomers saw kitty bobo and out of context clips of obscure hanna barbera shows and thought they could just steal that visual identity because there's no such thing as originality anymore
>>153179063Furries are the most productive animators on the internet they just tend to favor collabs and memes
>>153179063>another cartoon made by people who LOVE nostalgic content but would never actually learn to reproduce anything in an accurate manner and only seek to create some vain, superficial facsimile in order to cash in on an internet trend
>>153179523Eh, this is a better attempt at replicating retro aesthetics than Dandy's World and Lacey Games. Still off but I'll give it that much.
>>153179063You're posting them here so they get more views.
>>153179523>Expecting top tier animation from hobbyistsIndie animation was a mistake
>>153180964I feel bad for any indie creator who can't afford an actual studio at this pointYou can't get away with bad animation anymore
>>153180975>>153180964>>153179523>Be me>Have an "indie cartoon">Kinda ashamed of it as I'm the only animator and I suck, it's improving with each episode but not enough for anyone to give a shitIf I had the money I'd just pay more skilled people to animate it for me and I'd just write and direct.
>>153180999Just ignore them and make it anyway. Be like those og newgrounds types that pump out 20+ episodes despite everything
>>153180999I genuinely believe that you shouldn't post any art or animation publicly online until you're at a pro level. People don't give a fuck about your journey, only the end result. If you aren't good out the gate, you're shooting yourself in the foot
>>153179523This is how a lot of gen Z content feels sometimes. Well crafted but shallow and dishonest? I'm not trying to sound pretentious.Genuine effort and talent was put into it, but I don't really see the heart and soul or what their connection is to what they're trying to make. It's really strange. Even gen X and millennials had some connection or passion to stuff they derived from that was from their childhood or even something that was before their time. The way that gen Z has mythologized the 2000s reminds me of vaporwave, and it's weird to see this happen to an era I grew up in and remember pretty clearly. The information to know what life was like in the 2000s (and before that) is right here and easy to find, and their ideas and creations make the era seem very far away and ancient. I don't get it.
>>153181037You'll just be regarded as an autist who won't quit
>>153179158>saw kitty bobohit the nail right in the head
>>153181143Its because they don’t read
>>153181247It's* not "its", captain reading.
>>153179523be the change you want to see, if it's non profit who cares.
>>153181344NTA but my shit would be even worse
>>153179063Cartoon animals were common in cartoons until one day the animation industry said "no more", what you're seeing now are the consequences of the industry not allowing animal content for decades.
>>153181361do it anyway
>>153180999People will only hate it if you're popular I'm not kidding. Nobody cares if some guy with 500 views makes something bad
>>153180999Just don't call it a pilot and they won't care
>>153179063Cartoons have had anthropomorphic animal characters since the very beginning
All these furry-made indie things have this “lame & gay” energy that makes them difficult to stomach
>>153181143>Even gen X and millennials had some connection or passion to stuff they derived from that was from their childhood or even something that was before their time. Those 90s/00s cartoon creators growing up on safe 70s superhero/Hanna Barbera stuff gave room for experimentation while being emboldened by classic looney tunes/Bob Clampett stuff and more alternative styles of humor.
