He really should be DC's Spider-man (the character at the center of the universe, the heart). I'd argue he kind of is, he just lacks A-list popularity and consistent A-list top billing.

It's the Titans.Nightwing can't be an A-lister without the Titans (NTT roster) and their mythos being relevant and heavily tied to Nightwing. Taylor was attempting to do that, but Watters, Layman/Brombal and DC blew it.The Titans are the ONLY thing Nightwing has that Batman doesn't. And I truly mean the ONLY single thing. They should be more central to Nightwing in his solo book. Blüdhaven is just discount Gotham, Nightwing's rogues are just D-list Batman villains and Dick's stories are just lesser Daredevil ones.The thing is, you can't have the JL or the Avengers show up in Batman or Daredevil but you can have the Titans be present in Nightwing's book. Nightwing literally started out as a Titans character after all.

Well known and popular but nobody other than Dick fans consider him A list. The only A listers at DC are Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Joker and Harley Quinn.
