>Dark Horse teams with Marvel for new COSMIC INVASION art book
>Dark Horse reveals DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: RAVENLOFT series

>To mark 50 years of What If…?, Marvel Comics is rolling out a new wave of one-shots that revisit some of its most defining stories and take them in radically different directions.

>The celebration begins in June with the already announced What If…? Uncanny X-Men #1 by Gerry Duggan and Jan Bazaldua, alongside What If…? Thor #1 by Torunn Grønbekk and Sergio Dávila. Now, Marvel has revealed the next trio of one-shots arriving in July, each tackling a major corner of the publisher’s history with a bold new angle.

>The first of the July titles, What If…? Secret Wars #1, comes from Alex Paknadel and Cafu and flips the ending of Secret Wars by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribić. In this version, the collapse of the multiverse takes a different turn, allowing the original Ultimate Universe to survive rather than be folded into a single reality.

>Next, What If…? Jessica Jones #1 by Justina Ireland and David Messina introduces a darker twist on a familiar character. Jessica Jones steps into the role of Spider-Girl, bringing a very different tone to the legacy of Spider-Man and raising questions about what happens when power meets a more cynical worldview.

>Rounding out the lineup, What If…? Spider-Man #1 reunites writer J. M. DeMatteis with artist Yildiray Çinar for a return to one of Spider-Man’s most iconic stories. The issue revisits the aftermath of Kraven’s Last Hunt, offering a new take on the psychological and emotional fallout from that defining arc.

>Today, Marvel Comics dropped a mysterious teaser for DNX, a new event series set to launch this September from Jed MacKay and Federico Vicentini. Danger looms over the X-Men, or maybe it’s all of Earth?

>The teaser image, illustrated by Vicentini, features a striking biohazard-style symbol paired with the ominous tagline: “EVOLUTION IS CONTAGIOUS.” No additional details were provided, but the phrasing alone strongly suggests a story rooted in mutation, transformation, and the potential dangers of both.

>MacKay, who has quickly become one of Marvel’s go-to architects for major storylines, is coming off high-profile work on the X-Men line as well as the vampire-centric crossover Blood Hunt. Given Vicentini’s kinetic, high-impact visuals, this is likely going to be a high-action series.

>The phrase “evolution is contagious” feels especially loaded in the context of the X-Men mythos, where mutation has long been framed as both a gift and a societal flashpoint. Turning that concept into something transmissible introduces a chilling wrinkle. Is this a new form of mutation? A weaponized gene? Or something far worse spreading beyond control? Are regular non-mutants going to turn into mutants?

>The biohazard imagery leans heavily into that uncertainty, evoking themes of outbreak, quarantine, and transformation. It also hints that whatever DNX represents, it may not be contained to a single group or location.

>For now, Marvel is keeping details tightly under wraps, with a full announcement promised next week. Given the creative team and the scale implied by the teaser, DNX is already shaping up to be one of the publisher’s key fall events.

>If nothing else, Marvel has made one thing clear: whatever evolution looks like in the months ahead, it’s not staying contained.

>Marvel’s hit arcade smasher is getting an all-new behind-the-scenes look thanks to a new partnership between two of comics’ largest publishers. Wednesday, Dark Horse announced it was partnering with the House of Ideas to create Marvel Cosmic Invasion – The Art of the Game, a new art book featuring behind-the-scenes looks at popular release.

>Though exact details on the contents of the book remain scarce, the publishers did unveil the book will be a magazine-sized release and include 120 pages. It’s expected to hit both bookstores such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble as well as the shelves at your local comic shop; it will retail for $29.99 wherever sold.

>Dark Horse reveals DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: RAVENLOFT series
Amy Chu and Ariela Kristantina will helm the four-issue series, pitting Ez D’Avenir against Viktra Mordenheim, this August.

>Dark Horse Comics has announced Dungeons & Dragons: Ravenloft, a new, gothic entry in the franchise by writer Amy Chu, artist Ariela Kristantina, colorist Arif Prianto, and letterer Haley Rose-Lyon. Timed to coincide with the upcoming sourcebook Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, the four-issue series follows monster hunter Ez D’Avenir on a quest to save the titular cursed land.

>The official synopsis reads, “Ravenloft is falling apart, and nobody knows why. Fortunately, monster hunter Ez D’Avenir is on the case! She’s searching the frozen wasteland of Lamordia for an undead creature that may hold the key to Ravenloft’s fate. But when Darklord Viktra Mordenheim catches wind of her quest, Ez is suddenly the one being hunted!”

>The press release also teases the book will “unite Rudolph van Richten’s protégés from across the horrifying domains of Ravenloft.” Dr. Van Richten, who might be described as the game’s take on Dracula‘s Abraham Van Helsing, is a vampire slayer considered the greatest monster hunter in Ravenloft. Ez (full name Ezmerelda) is a Vistani (Romani-inspired) hunter with a fraught relationship with Van Richten, because of her family’s role in his son’s disappearance, while Viktra Mordenheim is a female analogue of Victor Frankenstein.

>This will mark Dark Horse’s third D&D series, after The Fallbacks (concluding June 3), and Total Party Killers (beginning July 22); it’ll also become Dark Horse’s first set outside the franchise’s traditional, high fantasy world of Forgotten Realms. Previous comics series set in Ravenloft include 2016’s Shadows of the Vampire

>Editor’s Note: The True Believers Display Boxes cost $149.99.

>Marvel Comics is upping the ante when it comes to Blind Bags, which they’ve already done with Ultimate Endgame #1, and Daredevil #1, but with Queen in Black, they’re going big with True Believers Display Boxes, special boxes that contain 20 copies of the issue, including 19 TRUE BELIEVERS BLIND BAGS and one display box-exclusive variant cover by Patrick Gleason.

>The Display Box Exclusive Variant Cover is only available in QUEEN IN BLACK #1 TRUE BELIEVERS DISPLAY BOXES and will be sealed in an individual clear polybag. The cover is a special black edition of Gleason’s iconic “webhead” style variant cover that was previously revealed as a QUEEN IN BLACK #1 TRUE BELIEVERS BLIND BAG exclusive. In addition, each box is also GUARANTEED to contain both Connecting Variant Covers A and B by artist David Marquez within two of the 19 sealed Blind Bags!

>Missing from the announcement is the price, but I’m going to guess… $100?

This might be the event classified as "X vs X" on the list.

Essentially, 3K (more precisely, the original Beast) unleash his own version of the Virus X that either kills humans or turn them into Mutants.

No they are separate things.

DNX is probably the 3K Gene Bomb.

XvX is probably something else. I guess a crossover between Mackay and Simone's books.

JMD? yaaay
>>
>>153185312
given the initial press release, its the same thing as Age of Revelation: Brevoort took a storyline McKay had planned for Adjectiveless and expanded it into a linewide event.

Simone's Uncanny will be sucked into crossing over because that's just how it goes. It should be pretty clear by now that McKay and Simone's books are actually decent when they can just exist for one or two storylines in between events but then that momentum always gets disrupted for the next linewide crossover status quo disruptor.
Gail's AOR tie-in was barely connected and she just used it to do more of a Gambit character study as best she could
