Pros:- Art style and animation are superb- Characters are on point, nobody is being weirdly ooc or has any awkward momentsCons:- Voice acting pretty much sucks, at the very least the voice director is incompetent. However I do want to give a shoutout to Sokka’s VA, he put true effort in. Roku and Gyatso’s voices are indicative of how little the producers cared for the original and just wanted an Asian cast regardless of talent.- Plot is very run of the mill. Not great not terrible for regular standards but for Avatar you expected some more from Bryke. Given the short runtime I suspect animation was the priority of this project.- Too many memberberries for my taste but not necessarily something I would knock off objectively it’s just immersion breaking

The problem with ATLA suffers from a limited world. They've already travelled everywhere and done everything interesting, and there no other distant places or groups or concepts ever hinted at. Every aspect of the world has been explored and done to death. The only things we know of but havent seen are the Spirit World (we have, but theres still mystery) and Airbenders. It purposefully limits itself and leaves little open-ended, much like Harry Potter.Which is completely fine if ATLA was stand-alone, but very unhelpful for sequels. Its why all of them focus on the Spirit World or bringing back Airbending. Korra managed to create a completely new locale with Republic City, but even that was underwhelming. ATLA as a setting, is dried up.

The animation is good, but it just feels wrong? The camera work, the style of the fights, the way everyone moves, and even the artstyle all feel way closer to every generic big budget anime these days than to the original show. I miss the more grounded fighting/bending styles of The Last Airbender and even Korra to a lesser extent. Letting the camera focus on an action scene and show everything that's happening like a classic kung fu film was way more interesting to me than the more modern constant 360 camera movements darting from hit to hit.
