Reading the Invincible comics while waiting for the new episodes
It's like an entirely different story, some good, mostly bad. Who the fuck is this character though? My Oliver would never.
>>
Also maybe it's cause I'm not used to comics but why does their tone of speech all sound so robotic and explanatory?
>>
>>153217793
because >kirkman
>>
>>153217632
Comic Oliver had way less of a connection to Earth than show Oliver does

I'm confused everyone is scared of Nolan. But wouldn't the entire Earth be terrified of Mark after the Invincible War?
>>
>>153217632
They literally spell it out
Comic Oliver has zero attachment to Earth aside from a few people like Mark and Debbie
Him showing potential sociopathy raised a question of nature vs nurture given he's 0% human which the show ignores
Kirkman plays with the idea that in time Oliver COULD go rogue and is an extension of Cecil's fears of what Viltrumites could bring but the show glosses over that even if it made a point that Oliver doesn't really belong (considering he outgrew his human friends)
>>
>>153217632
It’s gonna be fun to watch show only fans switch from loving Allen to hating him
>>
>>153218133
yes
>>
>>153218133
OC Marks were the best thing in Invincible. Better than anything in season 4 so far
>>
>>153218316
They cannot do this plot the same way with how he is written in the show
Same with Ollie
>>
>>153218185
>they literally spell it out
I tried seriously reading the comics but gave up after how shitty it is to me after the show, so didn't know. A character I loved in the show is a literal joke in the comics and some don't even exist.
I will admit some stuff in the comics is vastly superior to the show, but I love how they handled the family dynamic way more
>>153218541
Also this. That's why it took me by surprise. He had too much hate towards his dad and bonds with humans too much in the show to do this. Sometimes I wish it was more 1:1
>>
>>153218592
>A character I loved in the show is a literal joke in the comics
You talking about Rae or Darkblood?
>>
>>153218662
Darkblood more, Rae less. Her plot was so good with Rex I couldn't believe it was show only. Also some characters just act so different either due to circumstances or Kirk changing over the years it's just uncomfy
>>
>>153218133
honestly that could be explained way easily, if multiple versions of a hero start randomly appearing and fucking shit up then you could assume it's evil clones
>>
>>153218694
To put it more simply, I wasn't expecting this much difference. I'm used to manga and anime where it's 1 to 1, and the anime is just used to sell more manga in the long run. I go to check in to the comic while waiting for new eps, then a few pages later there is this character I have no clue even existed before, or Eve is drawn with a hideous face, It's no fun.
>>
>>153217632
this plotline also can't happen the same way if debbie stays with paul
>>
>>153219018
True, forgot about Paul. The show is going to be widely different outside of major scenes
>>
>>153219157
>outside of major scenes
That's kind of why Invincible works as an adaptation
There are clear deviances but the audience is still promised the big moments they WANT to see get adapted without much tampering.
There are multiple comic to show/film adaptations that just do their own thing and are pretty much adaptations in name only but with Invincible you can at least follow along the plot and recognize it even with the changes done
>>
>>153219418
It really is jarring if you're not expecting it though. I'll be skimming and see something completely about of nowhere the show decided to change and be like oh ok...cool
>>
>>153219018
Yes it does, Oliver would probably say save paul
>>
>>153219863
if they are both still on earth then he can't really be as gung ho no hesitation. which he also can't be because show oliver isn't written as a sociopath.
>>
The way Debbie goes right to fucking Nolan in the comics is retarded.
>>
>>153220190
*realistic
>>
>>153219863
He made multilple friends on Earth
>>
it will be changed so that zoe and telia and the angel and devil on allen's shoulders. telia is in favor of the scourge virus, zoe is against it and oliver is conflicted
>>
>>153217793
You should see how cringe the dialogue is on comics like Super Dinosaur. The only thing that makes up for it is Tricerachops. Kirkman is not a really good writer, sadly.
>>
>>153217632
"Your Oliver" is a bastardization for normies, dude. It's a Milestone Static vs Static Shock situation.
>>
>>153217632
Comic Oliver never cared for humans. Mark never made an actual case why humans should be saved when Oliver asked him what makes their life precious.
Oliver generally was more of an asshole in the comics. Makes me wonder if they are going to change his character next season and if he's going to turn against Allen
>>
>>153217632
The show is basically Kirkman's opportunity to fuck around and change stuff in his story, consider it an alternate universe
>>
>>153217793
Kirkman's entire writing shtick is contrived drama. None of the characters in The Walking Dead talk like actual human beings. Invincible characters bitch over the most inane things.
>>
>>153218185
Oliver in the show might not be super into earth, but he's a lot more chill and understanding of humanity. He feels like he doesn't fit but he wouldn't fuck earth over, and if he would I'd consider it character breaking.
>>
>>153218592
Comic Oliver fucking hated humans on principal (aside from family)
His POV on them was that Thraxans live short lives yet think about other's but humans live for so much longer and only think about themselves
Him perfectly remembering what Thraxa was like when he was still a baby didn't help

Totally not changing the plot for oliver guys I swear
>>
>>153221497
She wants him
He doesn't want her
>>
>>153221547
He is still half viltrumite, you can justify it as him wanting to fuck both people and lobsters
>>
>>153221497
They won't end up together. He's into shrimp women.
>>
if you believe that tech jacket really was aged down to oliver's age then the only compelling reason to do that is to pair her up with him. they wouldn't do it without a reason
>>
>>153221497
She must cure him of his dumb silly lobster obsession NOW
>>
>>153221762
>>153221856
I think they want to do a coming out plot but can't because William is already openly gay at the start this time around
Nolan KNOWS Oliver wants to fuck lobsters
WE know Oliver wants to fuck lobsters
Oliver himself doesn't know it yet so when he dates Zoe but can't bring himself to love her (and break her heart), he realizes his true calling is several lightyears away
That or he tries the good ol' scourge virus approach to deal with the Viltrumite question and that causes Zoe to break up with him
>>
>>153218133
Lol I dunno
