Do you think Absolute DC will have an ending, or will it be a continuous ongoing to reflect the mainline continuity as time goes on? What are some of the best and worst ideas to come from it? What particular characters are you hoping to see in Absolute?
>>153223768Love that Bruce is child hood friends with some of his rogues, should always be the case
>>153223983I like that for the most part they're implied to become his allies and not the stereotypical "bad guys are your childhood friends" trope
>>153223768That's a great page.
Snyder has made it sound like it’ll go until either it stops making money or they get bored of it. I do wanna ask him a similar question about like if he’s planning to pass the book on eventually or if it ends with him and Dragotta
>>153224561Each book appears to be creator driven, so I dont know how I'd feel about another writer handling each. I think it'd be better to offer new writers new characters to further flesh out the world rather than trying to make each ongoing drag out beyond expiration date.
>>153224466It became the new cover A for whatever issue coming out
>>153223983Doesn't really work that well. Bruce was a rich kid, so it would have been hard for most of his rogues to have ever known him. The only reason Bruce could be friends with all these guys is because he wasn't born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
>>153223768100% gonna get rolled up in the next dumbass crisis, pissing off many
It will probably last around as long as the first Ultimate Marvel Universe did. Eventually Snyder will want to move on and DC will either end it or bring in new creative teams and the interest will slowly die over time.
I think if sales keep up we can get a good 5-8 years out of it.
Is it weird that I think Absolute Bane is more interesting than mainline Bane?
>>153228043probably normal since main Bane only had one good story to tell and it was his intro
>>153227551>rich kids don’t sneak out and fuck around with poorsPlease
>>153228107It's ironic because with mainline Bane it's dumb when they make him literally The Hulk like they did in stuff such as the Arkham game universe, yet in Absolute it works due to context. He has better pathos to hate Bruce in Absolute too over mainline. Conventional Bane's obsession with Batman is more metaphorical, the last shred of fear from his childhood that he's trying to overcome and has fixated that hurdle in the material world towards Batman due to visual similarities. In Absolute, Bane is driven by his country and desperately trying to keep everything he's earned while also striving for true freedom from Joker/Jack Grim, and now that its all gone he has nothing left but his hatred towards Batman. But circling back to the hulkish frame, it works in Absolute because this Bane is very clearly more of a guinea pig that mainline ever was after venom exposure so the artists decide to roll with the absurdity of his nigh endless muscle threshold. He's kinda like Muscular from MHA, for lack of a better visual example. >>153228195I think he does have a point though. Bruce being friends with his rogues doesn't really work in mainline outside of Harvey. When everyone is tied back to the same roots, it can fail easily narratively and become stale. It works better in the Absolute context due to comparison and because this Bruce is far more "working class" to have larger social circles growing up.
>>153228230Now that I think about it it’s kinda weird they never did anything with a young Bruce knowing the Penguin when they were kids. Both from rich Gotham families, you could do something with that
>>153228297They did in the Telltale Batman game, it sucked. They made Oswald a skinny pretty boy like in that god awful Gotham show, and gave him a penguin themed gas mask. That visual gimmick only really works for hired goons in my opinion. But more to the point, having a childhood friendship with Bruce simply doesn't work. See Penguin's hatred of the Waynes stems from generation feuding and wealth from his parents/forefathers, which for something like that to work it requires compartmentalization and no real communication between the two. A lot of Cobblepot's character relies on paranoia and making assumptions of those around him, specifically how they view him. His childhood trauma also comes from his siblings, father, and almost Oedipus devotion to his mom.
>>153228297In the main continuity, Oswald is usually two or three decades older than Bruce. In general, most of Bruce's male rogues are older than he is.
Scott Snyder just posted that Penguin's look is going to "evolve" as the story progresses
>>153227428It would have made a great splash page. Pity.
>>153223768Brother?
The sooner it ends the better. It is dogshit. It's a lily-livered zoomer's idea of edgy, with the reheated 90's dickcheese from the few millennials not purged by the DEI commissars, mixed with the art school Marxists who think real evil is a white man who doesn't want his grandchildren raped by a Muslim or stabbed to death by a mentally ill bum with Get Out Of Jail Free melanin count.
>>153223768I hate it. It's so fucking tryhard
>>153230072Why would you read it if you hate it so much?
>>153230087I wish all comics at least tried this hard.
>>153230095Because I am terminally addicted to complaining.
>>153223768It’s going to go away eventually same way Ultimate did, 2099 did, and every other alternative line did because sales will eventually go down and it will get cancelled when interest wanes.
Eventually DC is going to do something with the line that fans (especially casual fans) hate and the entire line minus Batman will drop off in sales to be around mainline sales. When that happens DC will probably first try to get fans back with writer changes or trying to undo the things they did that fans hated but if that fails then they'll probably try to end the line.Of course Snyder is the main glue keeping the whole thing together so if he leaves before that happens or fans turn on him for some other reason then the line is probably toast. But the dude loves Batman and has already written up to like 50 issues so that probably won't be the problem DC has.
I like the concept of having an ending. Characters going trough their own arcs and not being reset or anything that happens stop mattering. Thing is this is supposed to be "le bad universe" so the only thing that makes sense is the universe being whipped, an tragic ending where evil wins or they going against the concept of the series and winning despite not being able to. I really don't like any of those. But I still think it should end, is just an fun little reimagine of a few characters that the fans liked (not green lantern). No point overcoming it's welcome and becoming another batkek.
>>153230264>Eventually DC is going to do something with the line that fans (especially casual fans) hateThey’re planning an event/crisis revolving around them already (which to be fair it was probably the going to be the ending when they first conceived the whole line) and if that event is anything more complicated than mainline and Absolute versions meeting and beating Darkseid’s ass then casuals are definitely going to be turned off the entire line. Casuals couldn’t even handle Kamala’s book getting a Secret Wars tie in and relaunch.
>>153230208You should try being terminally addicted to getting a job.
>>153224561Nah, Snyder has talked about how they're in the second act with a planned ending.>>153230072But enough about Absolute Martian Manhunter, what do you think of the other books?>>153230264>absolute ultimatumMy dick is ready.
>>153230389But then I would have less time to complain for complaining's sake.
>>153223768It will just die slowly as interest wanes, like it happened to the original Ultimate. They still have a few cards to play though (like Absolute Justice League or Absolute Teen Titans). As >>153230264 said, the sign is dying will be when books like Absolute WW or Superman start selling like their mainline counterparts or less.
>>153230340Yeah.
>>153228195Wayne Manor is all the way to the north in a wealthy suburb. His parents died when he was 8, he had no desire to socialize with poors, he was too busy thinking about how to become the best crimefighter.
>>153231105And that's a good thing!
>>153234457But I just want to make meaningless noise so people will pay attention to me.
>>153230072/co/trarianism at its finest. Amazing how people can't speak outside of hyperbole
>>153230033>HarveyVenom/Johnny>BruceGorilla Sol>WaylonJam (will be stoked to see she's back in Strive)>OzzySlayer>EddieThe most annoying Faust player >SelinaStill mad Blaze Blue died
>>153223768The plan is to eventually replace the mainline continuity with Absolute because Absolute doesn't have the problematic aspects of classic Batman (e.g., billionaire playboy, white, fights street criminals like muggers instead of dismembering immigration enforcement officers, etc.). Eventually, they'll either adapt this for animation or live action, and they'll cast an Asian person as Bruce. Like with Invincible, Bruce is clearly white but if you squint your eyes you can sort of understood why a psychotic might think he's Asian. Twitter will demand an Asian be cast, and Snyder will have to pretend like that was always his intention in order to keep putting food on the table.
>>153236114Imagine making up all this shit to piss yourself off
Absolute spoilers are outAnd Slade as the Joker aren't hiding the groomer alegationsAnd i hope this shit is fixed tomorrow for the storytimes
>>153237814Yeah what's up with posting?
>>153228230>It's ironic because with mainline Bane it's dumb when they make him literally The Hulk like they did in stuff such as the Arkham game universe, yet in Absolute it works due to context.lol
>>153223768DC's gonna run it into the ground considering how big a success it was and how they let the most mediocre and shit series go on instead of relaunching it with a new writer.>>153236412Getting angry is probably the only time that anon can feel anything at all.
>>153228566Four long slits goblin penguin is just the kind of dumb shit I've come to absolutely love from AbsBat.
>>153237911No idea. Posting went to shit after that maintenance yesterday night.
>>153228566>dinosaur>master assassin and mercenary the size of a building>immortal life elemental>an actual demon>fat crippled manlet chudno way bruce gets through this guy.
>>153238268it's funny how hard Oz gets shafted in this series. least liked one in the group, always getting picked on, and now he's like this while Eddie pretty much gets to live out his dream and Harvey....well, at least he isn't totally crippled like Oz
