Smiling friends was an okay show, better shows have been forgotten but Smiling Friends will be forever remembered because of the parasocial relationship the fanbase has with Zach and OneyPlays. The Pilot was the best episode and the show is a solid 7/10 but that's as far as it went. It felt more like a template for all the jokes Zach and Michael made throughout the years to be put in rather than something with a heart and soul and that's okay but to pretend like it was ever gonna be the next Rick and Morty was always delusional. The original fanbase carried it and Zach & Michael were right to end it prematurely. Zach's style of humor just works better for short bits he used to do instead of a full-on show. I say all of this as a fan. Thank you and good night.

I'd say 3 out of 10. The humor rarely ends, it's just screaming or "mundane talking with stuttering to be relatable". There is nothing actually interesting or unique or special or witty about the show. It's just milquetoast safe and tame. I enjoyed maybe 3 episodes out of the entire run.

I personality think they just saw what their fanbase was becoming and wanted to kill off the show before things got worst.
Also there's no way the merger didn't influence their choice.

I'm really thinking here anon, there's something about it that elevates it above most other shows, the artstyle is appealing, the premise is alright, the character designs and the characters themselves are also fine, it's never painfully unfunny to me and it's always at least slightly interesting with the setting and the plot

Lowkey got the Sam Hyde MDE treatment from Adult Swim.

Glep here looks like the kind of person that would steal shit from his own friends in a blatant non-stealthy way when he think's they're not looking and then make up really bad lies if confronted

OP's pic is ugly as sin. Also Glep looks like a black chudjak for some reason.

Zach took one look at this image and decided he needed to cancel the show.

>it's just screaming or "mundane talking with stuttering to be relatable

Once again, faggots simplify humor to just what it happens instead of how it happens. While many jokes have loud noises and mundane elements, there's also great visuals, a good sense of timing and proper contrast within the situation they create.
This types of arguments such as "X show humor is just this" are baseless because every show can be said to be just a type of joke if you simplify things hard enough. For example, Some seasons of The Simpsons can be simplified to just "subverting expected punchline" or character doing absurd thing after normal situation"

>there's something about it that elevates it above most other shows

It is actually an adult cartoon instead of animated show with a forgettable shitty art style like Family Guy and all of its clones trying to sustain themselves on "a smart writing". While Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon isn't exactly good, it is an example of what adult animation should strive to be: Visually appealing and with a reason for being animated besides "it is funny because people associate cartoons with stuff for kids"
If APC had been more successful, we may have gotten more stuff like the old Looney Tunes shorts with detailed backgrounds, expressive characters, appealing art styles and diverse camera angles.

I thought this style was only kept alive by aging former Tumblrites. Call me naive when I saw a 19 year old using this style today, pride flags and all. Some stuff never dies.

Saw a funny video of a fake Zach saying he ended the show because he ran out of Oneyplays jokes to steal and the last ep ended with the "YOURE NOTHING! NO TALENT!" trumpet man

The video was right lolol

That's because all the Tumbrinas migrated to Twitter then migrated to Bluesky. It's anti-white art made by ugly people. Please feel free to mock it accordingly. They never left the interwebs....but I wish they did.

If anything they became more prevalent thanks to quarantine neurosis
