What made it so good?
It told a story with a structure.Nowadays that's incredible, astounding, unheard of.
>>153223848According to the Invincible fans of /co/ they hate it all and it's terrible in every way, but they already consumed the entire comic and will continue consuming the show.
>>153223868ThisIt's incredibly rare nowadays for a series to tell a story with a clear beginning, middle and end
>>153223848I'm still waiting for this show to completely piss me off, but so far it has somehow avoided it. But the thing it's doing the best is that I'm genuinely invested. Stakes feel super fuckin' real, and things go badly OFTEN enough that you never feel safe.
The writing and characters, unironically
>>153223848the first and last episode of season 1, the murder of the guardians and nolan's turn on mark. the two main hooks of the show and it nailed them to an incredible degree. after that it could basically just coast on the cultural cache of those two moments.
>>153223868Its....TITLECARD
>one linear story with a clear vision rather than 6000 different runs because the creators refuse to let it dieSame reason manga is raping American comics in the US OF A
>>153223848So far, as a showfag, the show's worst filler impulses are mitigated by the characters being generally good or at least enjoyable, and a main plotline that was set up well in season 1 and everyone is kind of invested in.Nolan, Oliver, Mark, Rex, Robot, even Debbie (though you could cut a lot from her), most characters have me sort of investedThere are some important flaws, like the powerscaling, the plot being a bit contrived, the filler episodes being uninteresting (you can make good filler, but Invincible has fucking terrible filler), Mark and Eve's romance having no chemistry at all....
>>153223868Is it a good one?Not really. But is it a story at all?It is. And that is enough.
>>153223848Nothing. It's slop for morons and faggots.
>>153225336You are on the board for slop for morons and faggots anon
>>153225336slop slop slop mid AF fr no cap 6 7 ahh :skull:
>>153223848Having watched this show and been extremely annoyed with all the trauma session writing I'm convinced I should've just read the comic and ignored the show entirely.
>>153225579Reasonable crash out
>>153223868How hard would be to make something similar with a marvel or dc character? Make a series telling the beginning, middle and end of his adventures, make gorier and nasty but still recognisable heroic.
>>153223848I was still shocked at how Nolan became a sex symbol.
>>153223848>Invincible >good Did we watch the same show?
>>153223848>>153223868>>153225104These, it managed to hook people with an a shocking first episode, followed through with season long tension before finishing it with an emotional finale, from then on its been coasting on super hero drama mixed with slice of life stuff, it asks questions most super hero stories from Marvel or DC don't bother to ask (or at least outside of comics), in general its a break from the usual super hero genre but still having enough so its not some shitty "deconstruction" its just a super hero story that doesn't pull its punches.
