Most of the cast is still around except Arnold moved away. It was supposed to be more adult than Hey Arnold!. A kid character having a crush on another kid character from school has been a common trope for a long time, like with Charlie Brown and the little red headed girl. But usually they're too shy to ask them out on a date and not mature enough to realize maybe it's not their "one true love" and maybe they can find somebody else. So it's not as creepy as if an adult was doing it.I remember some Chinese kid would write stories where he would get with his crush and literally kill me because he was jealous I would hang out with his crush often. That's just stupid kid/teenager shit. Anyway if we're talking about being weird and creepy, writing letters to Arnold is not as messed up in my opinion as Helga making that statue of Arnold out of his used chewing gum in the original series.
