So is no one watching Born Again? I admittedly dipped out on DD after season 2, never watched 3 nor Born Again season 1. Is it bad, bland, or did everyone just kind of move on?
>>153228483I am. Currently really only enjoying bullseye. If nothing but visual spectacle.
>>153228498Friend of mine, who's a hardcore DD reader/fan, says Born Again in general is really low common denominator and surface level in terms of story and entertainment. I assume that's true given that you only really mentioned visual spectacle?
>>153228483its just hard to care about the characters when for all i know he will pop up in a movie and job to captain marvel or something it doesnt feel very serious. But people i know who have seen it still like born again and rec it.
>>153228483I'll watch it when it finishes
>>153228483Bullseye has been the only reason to watch this show.
>>153228483I liked the first three seasons but heard the new ones were pozzed and shit so just left it.
>>153228483I hear Born Again is good, but>I admittedly dipped out on DD after season 2same. I can't remember if I even finished season 2. All I remember is that I fucking hate Karen Page so goddamn much that I quit season 2 and tried to bleach as much of it from my brain as I could.
>>153228483Dude, watch Netflix S3 now. Forget everything else (though maybe read a synopsis of the Defenders to understand DD S3), it's the best season. My opinion of Born Again (S1 and what's out so far of S2) rests entirely on how it'll end. So far it's decent episodic fun, but I dont know how to feel on it as a whole until this story arc is actually concluded. We'll see where it goes.I imagine most people aren't talking about it for the same reason as me.If you decide to continue watching, I recommend the Hawkeye miniseries between S3 and Born Again. It's not required at all, but it's a fun, more lighthearted break that's still street-level (and is surprisingly relevant to Born Again in more than one way).
>>153228483/co/ threads alone don't dictate everything. Born Again has been a blast, it's admittedly more campy than the Netflix shows but after 3 seasons of that gritty serious storyline I'm pretty onboard DD being a little more flamboyant in his combat or having connections to the wider MCU more evidently.also watch Season 3 it's the best of the three seasons. >>153231176 is right about Hawkeye too, and finally you can also try Defenders
I'm watching. It's still lit and photographed too dark for my tastes, but I'm digging watching Kingpin's tower of lies slowly crumble around him. I don't know if the parallels to the current President are intentional or just life imitating art.
>>153231224I was hesitant to outright recommend it but yeah, I like Defenders too lol. It's genuinely fun to watch the protags interact, and honestly acts as a good intro to everyone if they were just DD watchers - it's just that the miniseries is so padded with boring scenes of The Hand that only make them less intimidating. If you're watching it, just skip past those.I honestly wish there were a fanedit that cut those out and basically nothing else. There are some fanedits of Defenders, I tried them all, but they each cut way too much of the non-DD characters' screentime; sometimes to the detriment of the basic plot.
>>153228483Live-action capes are terrible.
>>153228483Nope.
Bump
>>153231224>>153231176Damn, I guess I missed out on S3.
>>153236200NTA but I also held off watching season 3 until last year, primarily because Defenders was so meh and by that time the Netflix series is overstaying their welcome (the whole 13 episode movie and dragging the pacing). But holy hell did I regret not watching it sooner. Bullseye is simply the best part of season 3.
Ok but did this week's episode *have* to give Matt an extended series of lines where he stresses that he totally has nothing against foot fetishes?
>>153231281only reason I'm not that hesitant suggesting Defenders is because it's just eight episodes and nothing more. if it was 13 episodes with multiple seasons it would've slogged too much and the Hand scenes were just enough within my tolerance. there's rumors that they'll be back in full soon considering they're in the Spider-Man movie but we'll see>>153236200oh yeah Season 3 is the pinnacle of the show, don't sleep on it. Bullseye is so funon that note has anyone watched Echo? I was tempted to watch it just for Matt but hadn't bothered to yet. I liked his cameo in She-Hulk, obviously it was the only episode I've seen from that godforsaken show but like I mentioned earlier I enjoyed watching DD be a bit campier and the yellow suit was a cool bonus
>>153239126Yeah I mean, I don't think The Hand should be edited out entirely (kind of difficult when they're, yknow, the primary antagonists there), but all the scenes of them standing around expositing at eachother can definitely be cut without much loss. I've done the math, if you cut the majority of those out, you'd basically be left with 4-5 episodes instead. It's crazy. And that's ultimately how Defenders feels like to me yeah, a decent 4-ep special that was ridiculously stretched to double.I had not seen Echo, only read synopses - DD is in the first ep only I think, so you can try that out if you're curious. Overall it seems extremely inconsequential, but I can't critique the story itself yet obv. I can parrot that some people thought Echo's powers were inconsistent maybe, but I can't confirm. Most it does is set up Kingpin's plans for mayorhood at the end, but Born Again S1 introduces that plotline well enough by itself that I wouldn't even know I missed anything if I had no idea Echo existed.
Born Again is great, but it's also a rehash of what the final Netflix season was
