>start collecting Omnibuses
>they all have ridiculous digitalshit coloring
>everything looks like a cheap cartoon
>none of the depth and craft of the original comics
>no one seems to care

You think we will ever get original colors on Marvel stuff or naw
>>
>>153233379
I can't imagine Marvel doing anything good.
>>
>>153233379
just buy old floppies
seriously why is this even an issue
omnibuses are already nigger-tier reading material since they’re so gigantic and cheap for no good reason
you deserve what you get
>>
>>153233454
When I was a kid my LCS had giant stockpiles of old floppies, now they have barely any and are basically just a book store with a pull list option.
>>
>>153233379
No. Give up.
>>
>>153233379
People with sleeve tattoos (or any ink in general) are scum. Fuck omnis too, good thread
>>
>>153233379
You might get some decent colors when other companies publish them.
>>
Did Marvel publish omnibuses of the original Spider-man comics a few years ago, in paper that let the art appear like how it was originally intended to look like? I remember someone on here talking about it some years ago
Apparently there's a big in trying to reprint them faithfully because the original comic prints are so old, trying to restore them is literally luck and could easily disintegrate them and it's a lengthy process. O algo.
>>
>>153233379
get the epic collections for them original colors.
>>
>>153233379
I regret not getting those black and white essential reprints, better than the color ones out now
>>
>>153233424
Damn...
>>
>>153238326
The only proper new prints of old Spider-man were done by Taschen. I don't own one but they look nice.
>>153238460
wut? epic collections have the same coloring as omnibuses.
>>
>>153233454
This. And if you absolutely need them to be on a bookshelf, find a local library that does book binding for their periodicals. You'll end up spending a fair bit of money, but it'll end up being cheaper than its price equal price in omnibuses. I got all O'Neil's The Question bound in 3 volumes for about $100 back a few years ago.
>>
>>153233379
no one reads omnibuses
people just buy them as decoration

The Taschen editions are closer to the original looks.

DC are releasing a Swamp Thing omnibus with original colours and period appropriate paper; the next omnibus after that, Swamp Thing by Alan Moore, will also have original colours/appropriate paper. Quite surprising given that only a few years ago they produced an Absolute version with redone colours. The collected edition world has MASSIVELY ballooned in recent years. You can look at sales and see the comic market seemingly going up but the unit amount hasn't actually massively risen, it isn't new customers, it is whale consumers in things like collected edition fandoms. The amount of omnibuses being printed at Marvel is insane and stuff sells out really fast. If those aforementioned DC books sell well then I could see Marvel copying and following suit. But it depends. The cost compared with the consumers. Marvel did cancel their Masterwork line which was meant to be the more prestige line with a big part of the cost in restoring the art.

You can get some great deals on whole runs of floppies minus key issues. I miss the phone book Essential comics which were in black and white, massive bang for your buck.

Taschen, Folio and Peguin have some books with better colouring.
>>
>>153244420
DC is also releasing Batman by Neal Adams Omnibus with original colors.

>buys every Conan omnibus
>I don't read Conan, I don't even like Conan but they look good on the shelf so whatever
I fucking hate these people.
>>
>>153233379
why doesn't marvel just do books with like 5 issues in them each instead of just one giant omnibous that's super hard to read
>>
>>153244497
Does he even buy the books? I thought he was getting review copies.
>>
>>153244545
He buys a lot of books and doesn't get all that stuff via review copies. People used to joke he was a criminal or something because he always seemed rather dumb and was a mega CONSUME guy.
>>
>>153244684
Well the shit tattoos point towards criminal behavior.
>>
>>153244497
He is a dumb fucking retard and has no knowledge about anything. Fucking wigger needs to take his stupid shit to a different hobby.
>>
So many comic people now are so allergic to skipping through the catalogue that for some reason they need youtube consumerists to tell them about books.

https://www.reddit.com/r/comicbooks/comments/13iqgpi/comment/jkbjuox/ has a colorist who explains that the comic companies direct the digital colorists to be accurate to the original colors, not what they looked like when printed on the page. So those are the "original" colors, you're just never going to get anything that looks right because newsprint is dead.

>You were given an old scan…like the image on the far left, and a very fixed number of swatch colors approved by Marvel you were allowed to use.

>Our process was to ‘ignore’ how the page looked but instead to flip through the color channels in Photoshop - CMYK were used in different pattern densities (25%, 50%) that you can see when isolating specific channels.

>Cycle though all the channels, pay attention to how much of each color was being used, then color with that specific swatch color.

>My contract wasn’t with Marvel, it was with a restoration company out of St. Louis. Our work was rejected if we would have done it like the middle example…because the middle example isn’t adhering to how the original printers were calibrated, it’s adhering to the color tonality.

>We were directed to color adhering to what it technically was supposed to be.

Warlord's matte paper is far superior to glossy shit and it kills me that retards are gay for the latter for no reason other than pure retardation
>>
>>153245475
Damn.
>>
>>153245455
This is why I read scans instead.
>>
I only download comics these days and I started reading Batman starting in the 70s and you get a mix of scans of the issues and DC reprints and the orginal colours are fucking magic man. Seeing the Neal Adams reprints bums me out they're fucking hideous and I've never read Simonson's Thor because of the recolour job on the omnibus. How anyone can think this shit looks good blows my mind.
>>
>>153233379
>not just buying essentials/showcase
>>
>>153233454
>>153233379
I can only really see proper reprints coming about by way of hyper niche artisans. Like those guys who bind old floppies into hard cover books.
