If I'm understanding this correctly, forestonite comes from the negative universe from that one G1 episode, meaning these are now canonically the G2 colors for Ultra Magnus, Wreck-Gar and Cyclonus.

Speaking of Ultra Magnus, why was the toy's super mode depicted as his only robot mode in the cartoon? Yeah, I get that the toy's regular robot mode is just a white Optimus Prime but it's not like the show otherwise minded including the palette swap characters.

... You're joking, right? I know some of the season 3 characters were the first batch of figures designed for the Transformers toyline itself rather than just being rebranded Diaclone/Microchange/random toys but some of them were still taken from older lines, I think Browning in Masteforce is like the final character to be recycled from a pre-Transformers toyline. So forgive me for being skeptical but Transformers characters are typically designed around a toy, not the other way around, the only way that makes sense to me would be if Ultra Magnus was never meant to have a toy in the first place like Alpha Trion and then Hasbro demanded he'd be redesigned to look that Powered Convoy.

Nta but nope, Orion Pax was actually repurposed from the original Ultra Magnus concept.
All the movie characters were designed before the toys to be adapted later. At the time dia lone had wrapped up basically and a lot of future toys cancelled( metroplex, the scramble city stuff), Hasbro had to commission Takara to produce new figures to continue the line.i believe there’s a rumor that the UM toy was initially meant to be an upgraded Optimus in his JP powered convoy colors before the idea was dropped.
