With Ribbit abstracted, and everyone in the Circus getting pretty worn down into their archetypes by the time Pomni arrived, Kaufmo didn't really have anything left. They also seemed to know he was close to abstracting and just left him to it, because it was easier on them than trying to pull him out of it. Poor fucking guy. The circus was pure hell before Pomni, the emotional anchor, came into it. At least she restored a buffer of care, beyond Ragatha's completely forced and superficial version of it she was left with after years, between them and the existential horror.
