In another timeline Scott harnessed the power of his webcomic and kept on with reg updates. When the internet grew bigger, a whole new generation started to get into VG Cats. Then he starts making little animated shorts....that balloons into a pilot, and then, maybe a short web series. And it's all great and he makes alot of moneyI remember he had merch made of a plush Leo once, those are likely very rare now to find now. I don't think he followed up with a Aries plush.I think getting married, having kids, and divorced really fried Scott's brain. Go maybe he was always mentally a little off. I dunno. It's just sad how he was in the perfect spot with his webcomic right at the dawn of webcomics and fumbled it massively.

A lot of the early strips have that amateur pseudo-anime feel attached to them, clearly made by an artist that loves anime and manga but doesn't have all the fundamentals figured out yet to do the style justice.GamerCat, on the other hand, was very clearly created when fandom as a whole was just barely making it into the mainstream. Tumblr was the choice for blogging about it and YouTube was the choice for vlogging about it. The concept of the internet artist was beginning to take shape and this is apparent from how clean the comic's art is from the start, built from all digital art knowledge shared on DeviantArt during the previous decade. You can literally see a bunch of gaming and lolcat trends come and go throughout the comic's run going from 2011 all the way to 2020, where it has since remained on an indefinite hiatus.They both have a naivety attached to them that's hard to describe. Like, the internet was this sort of new medium at the time and there was a belief that there were unknowable opportunities to be discovered and unlimited potential with it's dynamic multimedia nature. It feels so long ago and distant now.
