Last issue in this new Titans run was all about how the series needed to change and introduced new characters as a means to that end. But this issue is something that could have been done with the OG team, nothing would have changed.Swap Jon Kent, Yara, and Batgirl for idk Aqualad, Speedy, and Kid Flash and nothing would have been different.The premise that the most popular version of the team is overdone in some way is stupid if you are just going to do the same stories with a worse team.Plus this "New Titans" line-up looks really lame. Faggot Jon Kent shouldn't be on any time. Yara Flor has never been an interesting character nor really had a concrete personality, Stephanie Brown's only role in the Bat family is to be on the bottom of every popularity ranking. (plus when you have people with the powers of fucking Superman and Wonder Woman on the team, what the hell would the worst Batgirl be able to do?)The Fantastic Four have managed to have the same cast have plenty of fun adventures for many decades, it's ridiculous to suggest that the Teen Titans needed to change. I agree DC overthinks the Titans. Just hire some writer with the mandate to not do Trigon, Deathstroke/Traitor, Brother Blood or them feeling lesser than the JL and you can probably get something decent. Adding 5 new sidekicks isn't gonna do much.I also feel like new ideas/pitches for those characters as individuals is probably harder than it looks. Some of that is due to Wolfman getting most of his characters to their natural conclusion in NTT.Cyborg is the most obvious example. He has been in a dozen Titans books, a dozen Justice League books, JL Odyssey, and like four solo books and no writer has found any interesting angles for him. He should probably just stay in the Titans because nobody has any better ideas.I feel like Beast Boy and Raven should be integrated with the more Vertigo characters like Doom Patrol, JL Dark, Hellblazer, Animal Man. I'm not sure you are ever gonna get the most out of these characters in mainline DC.Maybe Starfire could hold a solo book in space, but you need a good sci-fi writer because most of DC Cosmic isn't very interesting.Nightwing had to reinvented as basically a completely different street-level character when he got his solo. Donna Troy, Roy Harper, Tempest...They are all just sidekicks who are never replacing their mentors and their franchises aren't big enough to allow them to develop like Nightwing did. Being on a Titans book is probably as good as it gets for them.
