Now that Invincible proved there's a big market for animated series faithfully adapting comics, would they finally start doing with other comics? What comics would work as a long running series?
>>153267333I think Saga would be a hit with an unfaithful adaptation.
>>153267333On one hand, I'm not sure IHF could be faithfully translated to an animated medium. On the other hand though, the possibility of undoing Young's retardation through a retelling that would undoubtedly attract a wider audience is extremely strong.
>faithfully
>>153267333Chew was supposed to get one with Steven Yeun, David Tennant, and Felicia Day
>>153267333Invincible has the perks of attracting the anime powerlevel fightfags. Most other indies don't have that.
>>153267333>faithfullyThey turned half the cast into niggers
>>153267425The only things IMO you need to do to make IHF a successful cartoon are 1) Make the artstyle cute since part of the point is that it is a cute series with violence (Derek Laufman's artstyle should be the easiest to adapt to animation, you can even make fun of how it is mostly bean mouth). 2) Do more with the stories, one fatal flaw IHF has is that it loves compressing stories, give them time to breathe, have a complete story of Gert's reign as queen, for example. 3) Don't kill adult Gert when adapting to the revival.
>>153267333I don't know if Smith would be willing to get his heart broken again over another potential Bone adaption.
>>153267333Chew was gonna get an animated series recently but it got Zaslav'dBone got fucked by NetflixElfquest was getting one but the second Fox wanted one of the main characters gone, the creators pulled outPic related is what got announced to get animated adaptations and even then I'm not sure if any of them will actually get releasedComic adaptations get announced all the time and they almost never pan outAs if we'll see more animated adaptations period? On one hand>The Annecy is debuting a "Comics to Animation Rights Market">Robert Kirkman was very vocal about the positive benefits animated adaptations have had with Invincible's collected edition sales during ComicsPro and even Ryan Ottley mentioned it on twitterOn the other hand>The state of the animation industry is fucking dire>>153267391BKV doesn't want one
>>153267333>Bone someone post the image
>>153267333Adaptations are cancer.
>>153267333Maybe well finally get that dredd tv show...
>>153267333>animated series faithfully adapting comics,Huh??
I know initial plans fell through but this seems like a no brainer
>>153267333I think a cerebus adaptation could be really cool if handled well but i dont want dave sim to get more money and i cant think of a team that could do the comic justice without it ultimately getting enslopified.
>>153268194It was gonna be live action
y the last man is the obvious one to me.
>>153268196You know he's gonna put Cerebus in the public domain when he dies right? There's also that one indie fanfilm adapting the first phonebook>>153268189Invincible takes liberties but it's still largely a faithful adaptation especially compared to every other series based on a western comic that isn't The Maxx. It's not like The Boys which establishes hard liberties that makes events from the comic incompatible from the get-go, if you watch Invincible for the big moments from the comic to be adapted you WILL get those moments
>>153268210Already got a live action series that lasted one season
>>153267333OP, we're never seeing a Bone adaptation. Move on
>>153268218damn, I guess a live action version of it would have come of as meh contemporary sci-fi.
Surprised Fables didn't get one, especially after Wolf Among UsDon't even need to adapt it like the game, the world can just be milked
>>153268271Not a comic you idiot
>>153268258would this get cut?
>>153268290but something that would need to be adapted in the form of a cartoon
>>153268308This thread is about comics you stupid fucking illiterate dumbassOP specified comicsThis board is about comics and cartoonsAll Tomorrows isn't a comic Get it through your thick skull you drooling retarded waste of breath
>>153268318>and cartoons
>>153268393>would they finally start doing with other comics? What comics would work as a long running series?>comics
>>153268194This looks cool as fuck, is it actually good anon?
>>153268128>BKV doesn't want onewhy, does he know its mid as fuck?
>>153267333havent there been a bunch of attempts to adapt bone that just never go anywhere? even the creator was posting on twitter about his bad luck
>>153268525He just wanted to make a story he felt could only work with comics in mindSaga is deliberately designed to be as unfriendly to an adaptation process as possible
>>153267333Given tadc popularity, IHFL would be the most logical choice all things considered.
If only they'd adapt something cool instead like The Airtight Garage.
>>153268318This is what you get with adaptation faggotry.
>>153267333>faithfully
>>153268499NTA but I liked it, not a lot of scifi westerns out there and I really dug the world building
>actually gets a good adaption>it's fun and visually creative>cancelled after one seasonMan fuck Syfy, instead we got a shit ton of seasons of the complete bastardization of Resident Alien and the only good part of that shit was Tudyk.
>>153271087I remember Remender saying one of his comics was going to get an animated series and I recall some speculating it'd be Black ScienceIt's been years now so I doubt it's still happening
>>153268547I would prefer Ex Machina anyway
>>153267333Bone's adaption was composed of the Authors personal Dream Team and Netflix still fucked it over for no good reason
>>153267333I would've said Hellboy but that ship has sailed, same for the Walking Dead and Preacher. Madman would be cool. They tried to do Gendel before, could go back to that. You could do a Love and Rockets, the Locas parts, Blacksad as well. Blackhole isn't long but it would be cool.
>>153267333Due to Walking Dead Kirkman has pockets and connections, I doubt others can pull the same thing if even Mark Millar hasn't.
>>153271806Kirkman really wants a animated adaptation of The Walking Dead closer to the comics but he can't make it because AMC has the show rights
>>153267333I honestly wonder how much of this could work as a series and how much is just me wanting an adaptation.
>>153268271I actually think it would have to be done in a documentary fashion like the future is wild. They story takes place over millions of years, it would be impossible to have a single protagonist
>>153271973Turf read like a bad TV pitch
>>153267333There are rumors that this is getting a Netflix cartoon
>>153272045Not a comic dingus
>>153267333Not a comic, but rather a web novel series, but worm deserves an animated adaptation. We've already got adaptations of other edgy superhero franchises.
>>153267333>animated series faithfully adapting comicsInvincible was not any more or less of this than the bucket of other DCAU cartoons that were like it, sans gore. It has raceswaps, and it undercuts the edgelord attitude of comic Mark with jokes about sexism. They thankfully got the most important scenes right, but there’s no reason to watch past season 1.
>>153272366>Not a comic, butNo but'sAnswer the question properly
>>153267333If they adapted Bone I unironically want it to be way more edgier and darker. Also change the final battle sequence near the end to be more character driven and give the bone brothers more stuff to do. The ending was clearly rushed as fucked
>>153272380>Invincible was not any more or less of this than the bucket of other DCAU cartoons that were like it,The difference is that the DCAU was largely episodic while Invincible is serialized When the DCAU was serialized those plots were largely original to the DCAU itselfInvincible takes its liberties with its source material but the plot beats and events are still largely recognizable
>>153272092Un-ironically I wouldn't mind if they went lesbian with the duck, considering her arc just left her dead.
I know even a 75% faithful adaptation would be difficult due to its format but I am curious as to how they would handle the lore sections, would they truncate it, Integrate it more into the story as snippets, animate flash backs or would they just have a character lore dump every once a while.
>>153268128>Faustlol, I seriously doubt that will be made with the rampant uncensored vag and dick.
>>153272861Probably something like Avatar where they just prioritize things that concentrate on what's going on in the story itself.Thieves & Kings' format worked well during the chase scene where Rubel was hounded by guards at the castle while the text detailed the tale of Sara Blue but if the latter was told in comic format, it'd warrant its whole issue.I guess you don't necessarily need the lore dump in case of an adaptation since all you really needed to know about Sara Blue is that she's a ghost when she does finally show up in the main story but otherwise you'd still be missing a chunk of the comic's lore.
>>153272909Honestly it's the one I think is most likely to get canned if it hasn't alreadyIt was announced in 2021 but there hasn't been news sinceAt least Snyder still tells people Wytches is coming
>>153267333>would they finally start doing with other comics? No. Invincible is an outlier. This isn't Japan.
>>153267438>David Tennantim assuming that would be for savoy or whatever he was called. i dont think tennant would suit that at all
>>153268258ABC bought the rights to Fables to develop it, then never went past the planning stages. But then ABC did make a show called Once Upon a Time which had a similar plot of fairy tale characters in the real world.>After Fables fans raised controversy over possible appropriation, the show writers initially denied a link, but later said they may have "read a couple of issues" of the comic book and while the two concepts are "in the same playground", they are "telling a different story."[25] Bill Willingham responded to the controversy in an interview, where he stated he did not feel the show was plagiarism and said: "Maybe they did remember reading Fables back then, but didn't want to mention it because we've become a very litigious people."[25][29]
>>153271087Speaking of Wes Craig
>>153275628Looks neat
>>153267333>americans finally learn how to do something the Japanese created in the 60sWhy american media struggles so much with simply translating comics to cartoons?
>>153277294>Why american media struggles so much with simply translating comics to cartoons?Ask yourself this questionDo you seriously think during the peak of The Walking Dead's popularity AMC would've greenlit an animated Invincible series?
>>153267333I'd be shocked if Bone didn't already have something major cooking
>>153277921The Netflix series got canned
>>153267333Chew actually WAS going to get a cartoon adaptation. Starring Steven Yuen as Chu funnily enough. But it was cancelled after the death of Robin Williams, who the showrunners wanted for Chews boss and eventual adversary Mason Savoy. The showrunner didn't want to do the show without Robin.
I actually think netflix was going to make a bone cartoon but it got canceled now if we are talking indie comics and not capeshit FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SOMEONE KIDNAP JOHNEN VASQUEZ AND MAKE HIM TURN JOHNNY THE HOMICIDAL MANIAC INTO A GOD DANG CARTOON ALREADYthank you in advance
Bonejohnny the homicidal maniacanything by r.crumbmadman just listing the stuff i have read
>>153273726Something similar happened to SM Stirling when he tried to get his Dies The Fire books adapted.
>>153278966>>153279014What has Jhonen been up to? It's been silent since the comics finished.
>>153278966That should’ve been made 20 years ago, back when Hot Topic girls were going crazy for Invader Zim.
>>153267333>animated series faithfully adapting comicsAnon..
>>153271973Masks and Mobsters was a cool concept, i really liked it.
>>153272092This is one of the few series i'd actually like to see, especially if it looked like picrel.
>>153267333Age Of Bronze would have been so cool as a Rome style tv series. And i do mean Rome, where they're not afraid to make some of the characters do shit that wouldn't fly today. But alas, i doubt it could happen, without it being deep government funded or some shit.
I would love a Mouse Guard animated series but I know it would look as cheap as Invincible
Chew Omnivore edition books are sold out?
>>153280359This was at one point being developed. You can find a reel online. Didn't like, they anthropomorphized the mice too much in body.
>>153280462Nta but i saw it. I disliked the artstyle making them look like real mice/ being a bit lanky, the appeal for me was them chunky little pieces of cuteness dying horribly and killing people.
>>153268128Powers got announced recently although let's see if it actually happens. wasn't something is killing the children supposed to be live action not animated? also you forgot 7 billion genies
>>153268128In always kind of surprised they haven't tried animating monstress yet it just seems like the kind of thing to get animated
>>153277294They're retarded American CEOs and execs still think animation is for le children onlyalso americans don't have slave labor working conditions like the japanese anime industry does. yes i know everyone outsources a bunch of stuff to korea and vietnam anyways but you still have to slave labor some of it yourself and in the us that would be against the law or whatever
Absolute batman
>>153267333>faithfullyIt's an irrelevant aspect imho. 90% of current Invincible fans didn't know of the comic at first.
