Hunter: The Parenting | SECRET HUNTERS - Hunt for a Haunted Video Game

I was just thinking in rewatch the entire series. Lets fucking gooo!!!

Hopefully Boy learned his lesson from last time.

Disappointing. I was hoping for actual stuff.

I'm still of the theory that these are being made by markus and kitten to get in contact with hunter.org

Pretty much what it sounds like, private website for hunters to commune and share info. Like how the vamps have SchreckNet

>First thing they've done is mention they're hunters like 6 times, with just barely enough censoring that you still can tell.
One brain cell and they're sharing it.
>>
>wireless mouse with side buttons
were those popular in the early 00s?
I only remember those with wires and having one with a laser and not a ball was something.
>>
Does this hit the same as Emperor's did? I missed out on it because I figured it was some joke parody with not!Dorn etc. I like World of Darkness plenty though, does it handle that stuff well?
>>
>>153269763
It handles the stuff even better with world of darkness because they have more freedom and more fanficy parts that TTS had don't bring down the story as it's plausible to happen in the world
>>
>>153269763
the first episode is kinda weak but it gets better with every next episode and audiodrama
>>
>>153269763
I also had the same first impression as you, even more because I didn't know anything about World of Darkness, and I put it off until the audiolog where D gets interrogated (I don't remember why I watched that one in particular, but it impressed me so much I started to watch from the beginning). But, really, it actually pays off better than TTS ever did, because they have a lot more creative freedom to make a narrative from the ground up and they obviously have the benefit of experience now.

It is still self-parody with not!Emprah, not!Kitten, not!Magnus, not!Dorn, etc. But they actually turned out to be their own characters that borrow the character traits of their inspirations but applied completely different.
>>
>>153269763
It's better. The first episode is a bit weak but after that it's pretty consistently great.
>>
>>153267615
>empty out room to avoid shit breaking
>add a slight echo to the voiceover
damn, call me easily pleased but it's a really nice touch
>>
>>153269763
characters range from good to great, lots of references to WoD lore, but prepare for some heavy handed exposition in some of the side episodes because most of the characters don't actually know shit, aside from D.
Kevin and D interacting especially are just so goddamn fun
>>
>>153269763
I honestly think they surpassed TTS, they got a lot more money and invested a ton of it into production.

>>153269950
>>153269981
>>153270195
You sold me, I'll get to it tonight after I get back from work. Cheers, anons
>>
>>153269763
The audiologs are their way of explaining WoD to newcomers, which is what fans wanted so they're making more of them.

But the actual episodes are also good. There's a noticeable uptick in quality with each one, and I think it's as much to do with the budget as it is this is a team of ex-/tg/ nerds that want to make something cool(they keep wanting to make new stuff, but when they shove it into the workload, everything else takes longer to complete)
>>
>>153268811
In old Hunter the site's firewall was a literal angel that made the site look like a generic prepper/innawoods type site to any visitor other than hunters. IDK if or how they justify it now the Messengers have been retconned.

>>
What question do you want to ask the Secret Hunters?
>>
>>153268604
I think this is their way of leaning into the more esoteric side. This whole shtick is looking for haunted video games, so I think it is their way of looking into the Wraith side of WoD, at least through the lens of a hunter who has no clue what a haunted video game would be compared to a video game glitch.

we waited three months for this????

Well, no, we're waiting three months (and more) for the bigger stuff, this is the aperitif.

Also probably a way to get us sadder about Markus getting abducted and breaking the family dynamic.

Are we sure that wasn't just some reality fuckery orienting itself over a supernatural occurence? Was the game actually bleeding for a second because Markus willed it to bleed?

They're pretty good. Animation is objectively far better by the end, voice acting is alright too though there's some audio errors that feel like they should have been correctable. They just repeat a voiceline twice during an important fight, as an especially memorable example though the voice actors are clearly trying which makes up the difference in my opinion. There's a few hiccups with ideology washing (ironically making them look worse) but if you don't care about that sort of thing it's fine. They're focused on the long hall so the plot is stringing together nicely.
Most importantly of all, it's still funny. If you enjoyed TTS you'll probably like this too.

>>153271640
I still have my Nintendo 3ds and 2ds and a bunch of games I never managed to finish or summon them I haven't even started yet on my to-do list.I am OP.

It's possible it was a stigmata kind of thing but I think it's really just that Marckus ungabunga'd the old brittle plastic too hard
>>
I love how when Marckus calls the producer or whatever and starts threatening him, the producer responds like it's nowhere near the first time this happens and has already been traumatized by constant threats on his life over Bronson goes to California.

just wait till Bezo's builds his massive space station choom. Threatening to drop rods from godand maybe airburstnooks to anyone that dare fucks with their SPEECE ancap utopia. If you thought cyberpunk 20XX was just some scifi garbage and not the future written by a timetraveler who altered things slightly so no one notices how a game from the 80's predicted all this.

Cyberpunk was the sugar coating. I fully expect us to go full Syndicate. Corporations already exert power over governments(even in China, they're just real good at being quiet about it). I expect once they get to space and start making crazy profits, that mask will come off and we'll be living in a competetive corporatocracy
>>
>>153285585
>even in China
lol
lmao even
Yeah right its not like the CCP has never placed the richest Chinamen in skrt prison and no one knew where they were for months. As well as there companies suffering greatly.
>>
>>153285657
Yeah, he made the mistake of not being quiet and tried to go against the richest company in the country: The CCP.

Marckus continually yapping his mouth about being a monster hunter makes D's hesitance to tell him anything valid. Dude CANNOT shut the fuck up about his hunting. If a Cammie agent were nearby him at any point he'd be dooming his whole family.
>>
>>153287411
he's on a secure intranet network like tor he just has no idea how to get invited to the hunter site
>>
>>153287411
>Marckus during a podcast.
Yeah so we're hu*FISHER* of the sup*TROUT* and we do a lot of hu*FISHING*. Anyway, let's hunt for some supernatural videogames.
>Marckus at the pub.
AND THEN ONE OF THE VAMPIRES FUCKING KICKED ME IN THE FACE 30 TIMES.

Still betting my ass Matilda/the werewolves are gonna get sick and tired because he talks too much instead of it being difficult to make him talk.
>>
>>153287478
I mean even in real life he was blabbing his mouth about hunting vampires earlier. Imagine if another ghoul was at that pub when he was hanging with his friends, he'd be fucked
>>
>>153287535
It's actually extremely worrying to consider for a second that if Chapman hadn't met D like one day before, that could have ended with all the family getting ambushed and killed in their house.

>>
>>153287555
Marckus genuinely has no idea how lucky he is as a hunter. Other hunters have made much less minor slip-ups and have gotten blood hunted for their indiscretion. I have to assume his luck is tied into his being an unawakened mage? That's the only thing that makes sense to me, honestly.
>>
>>153269763
They're pretty good, the main characters are based on their TTS counterparts but still have some differences to make them stand apart even if I am betting this will just loosely retell the Horus Heresy. The animation is obviously much better and their writing in general feels improved.
My only real complaint is that every episode for a while now insists on having some kind of emotional drama key moment at the end. They're good on occasion, but having them so consistently and frequently makes them predictable and lose their punch. Having this new Secret Hunters be pure comedy is a breath of fresh air, and I'm hoping at least the audiologs try and be more strictly a mix of comedy, character writing, and autistic lore dumps. Emotional drama should be a sometimes thing, saved for special occasions.
>>
>>153291078
I agree, I was actually kind of disappointed with the Door and Boy go to O'tolley's audiolog because I was hoping for some fun shenanigans that resulted in the burning down of the place, and then it didn't have any comedy save at most how odd the dude was, which was obviously ultimately just terror.
>>
>>153291563
I mean it did have comedy like the green/red flags bit. But you're right I think it should have been more comedic throughout. Or rather, I don't think it should have repeated Door's agonizing over Boy's mental state if we're not gonna get a payoff yet.
>>
>>153289576
He has autism that's why
