So this is the guy ruining reprintshttps://x.com/allanharveyres1Do people not realize most folks rather just have the art just be direct scans from the original comics flaws and all?
>>153275706How is that "ruined"? That's way closer to the original than a lot of other recolorings from the past Or do you think newsprint always looked like the one on the left?
>>153275706I like both :)
>>153275706Looks fine. What's the problem?
>>153276366>How is that "ruined"?ITS CLEAN
>>153275706His stuff for Fanta looks great.
>actually it being doused in red adds to the cartoon, you don't need to do restoration or put effort in
Is this supposed to be making fun of people having problems with legitimately bad recolorsLook up Tatjana Wood

>>153275706>zoomer thinks comics were printed on yellow paper
>>153275706>nooooo he removed the discoloration from the cheap shitty paper that was never meant to be there in the first place!!!!...Good? Keep it up, guy on twitter?
>>153275706What?
pretty sure it's not one guy alone anon>>153280102>>153280279>>153276366Newsprint wouldn't be as bright as the modern reprinting even new. The big issue for reprints like this is that they're based off the color guides, which were brighter with the intention that newsprint would print duller.
>>153275706Go suck Jose Villarubia's cock, OP
>>153282535But this guy isn't doing that.
>>153282535>pretty sure it's not one guy alone anonSo there's a bunch of picky people on social media, whoop-de-fucking-doo>Newsprint wouldn't be as bright as the modern reprinting even new. The big issue for reprints like this is that they're based off the color guides, which were brighter with the intention that newsprint would print duller. This is a comic from the 1950s. As far as I know the only color guides from the 1950s that survived were the ones from EC Comics. As far as I can tell Harvey kept the original coloring of the comic since the lines and dots are about the same. There's only four colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black) to work with so anything that is out of the ordinary is coming from the paper texture/age or the printing process (case in point, the sky). Was this for Fantagraphics? I doubt they'd reprint this on newsprint, and there are ways to simulate the newsprint effect or at least simulate the colors of the 50s print, but you may end up making it look even more different.I mean as far as the standards for comic reprinting has been, this isn't even anywhere near bad. It's not like the all-new digital recoloring for that Thor Omnibus or Dark Horse's EC reprints, and he seems to have gotten most if not all the linework from the comic (which is more than I can say for some Marvel reprints). Sometimes some complaints about comic coloring are starting to veer off into what >>153278212 was making fun of
>>153283813>>153284143With a limited number of color choices, it's like reverse engineering. You can probably figure which color is which by process of elimination, even without a literal exact color guide.
>>153278212That print must be unrestorable in full vinegar syndrome mode now.
>>153284143>he seems to have gotten most if not all the linework from the comic (which is more than I can say for some Marvel reprints)This pissed me off so bad about the Barry Windsor-Smith Conan reprints. And then they slapped digital color on them to hide the terrible linework repro.
