The shills are silently weeping that their campaign did absolutely nothing to save this film from its utterly mediocre performance. They're going to try the same schtick with the Supergirl movie, but that one's even more of a mediocre Gunn retread, so they'll fil extra hard when it flops.

Supergirl is not as known as Superman, and we're at a point with capeshit where people aren't disposed to show up for characters they're not familiar with (specially overseas). It's also sandwiched between TS5 and Minions so it has an uphill battle.

>>
>>153279504
You want evidence then, anon?
Production costs: 225M budget + 125 M marketing = 350M.
Box office earnings: 354M domestic (-50% for theater fees, so 177M domestic) + 264M internatioanl (-60% theater fees is 105M) = 289M earnings.
289M earnings - 350M production cost = 61M LOSSES.
> But they're making Supergirl so how is it possible?
Are you retarded? They make these movies with park money, not with theater profits money. One money losing money does not stop the others, especially when they were already in production. That's one reason, the second reason is that these movies are made solely to burn money that would've been taxed by the government anyway.
When your park makes 1B in a year, 40% belongs to the state, unless your company re-invests it, so they make movies with that 40% rather than giving it to the gorbo.

Why did you faggots have to obsess over the stupidest, most boring, most asinine franchise ever? Everything Zack Snyder directs is garbage. You come up with these stupid head canons to explain away the massive plot holes and retardness of these movies and work yourself into a shoot convincing yourself Snyder is some sort of auteur genius but when he tries to prove he’s a genius by showing off his deep metaphors it’s stupid shit like “I put Clark in front of a stained glass window of Jesus to show he’s like Jesus” or “I wanted to subtly show the audience that Bruce is a masochist by putting a Mapplethorpe over his bed” You retards could’ve put this energy into something worthwhile like Raimi’s Spider-Man or even Ang Lee’s Hulk but nooooooo you had to obsess over the literal worst one. I watched it recently, having heard plenty of good things about it. My only personal complaints were Ma and Pa were almost... Too simple? I get the charm they're going for, but they don't seem like they'd raise Superman, just a decent farm boy. I don't like the twist of Krypton Bad typically, it's sort of a tangle that's mainly just to pay off as cheap conflict. That much is in here too. More nitpicky, the time it takes for Superman to be helped in prison should've led to a dead baby, realistically, so I just would've trimmed that scene.
>Muh punk rock

Man of Steel was released at the height of the super hero boom where super hero movies were regularly pulling in over a billion dollars. Superman was released post-Covid where hardly any movie is breaking a billion, the super hero bubble has burst and not even MCU movies or Avatar are guarantees anymore. With all that in mind Man of Steel just barely managed to outgross Superman. Also Man of Steel cratered its second weekend, an historic 70% drop that held that record until the next Zack Snyder DC movie came out and managed to crater even worse its second weekend with a 75% drop. Second weekend drops are the real determining factor on if a studio is happy or not. If a movie craters its second weekend that means John Q Public didn’t like it enough to bother seeing it again. I never said it was going to break a billion. The damage Zack Snyder did to the DC brand is going to take a while to undo. And if you want excuses ask a Snyderfag how Batman v Superman was unable to clear a billion when a fucking Captain America movie easily sailed past a billion just a month later, a Thor movie cleared a billion a year later, and a goddamn Captain Marvel movie cleared a billion. Yet the first movie ever to feature the world’s two biggest super heroes was unable to crack that billion why is that?

There are Superman 2025 fans, but they're the dirt of society.
>>
It's weird how the steady decline of the global economy, starvation of funding to theaters and ever-increasing reliance on streaming media never seems to factor into these discussions. Like this seems like it requires more complicated math than "people spend no money, no want product".

Like the fact that the movie involved Superman beating up an Israeli warlord to save arabs seems like as much of a reason for it doing poorly as anything else you guys are throwing around, if it even did poorly.

ZSJL still gets a shit ton of figures made every year that easily sell out. Mcfarlane still got a new wave of BvS last year. And they announced even more. Superman couldnt even finish the main characters before being discounted to hell. There are no Guy/Hawk mcfarlanes and there wont be any. Superjew was selling at discount after 10 days.
Meanwhile Mcfarlane even sells Jared Letos from Suicide Squad in fucking 2026.

Also every fucking new brand literally starts up by releasing ZSJL figures. Innart/psertoys/fondjoy. Fondjoy went from Z tier brand tobecoming the best movie action figures at that price point.

So yes, its fucking irrelevant. 6 months and doesnt move merch anymore. Imagine thinking it will sell toys in 13 years like MoS is still doing.

>>153285458
Imagine putting 2 R rated shows before Superman, and then the direct sequel to Superman is another season of said R rated show. But Superman movie is a saturday morning cartoon for kids, which is not bad, but if you are entering the new "universe" you want to watch everything and your main movie is for kids, but the rest of it is R rated. Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Joker were all pretty succesful. There's obviously flops here and there but it was a far more welcoming enviroment for capeshit. Even if the movies were "just okay" (which was most of the MCU despite what it's fanboys tell you), that was a guarantee for having a good run.
Just last year three superhero films got good reviews and all of them struggled at some degree at the box office.

Yes. It means you're either a fan of DCAU films or don't care for DC movies at all.
>>
well yeah, we live in a time where people consume and move on at an insane rate.
the only current era things that really stay talked about are things that go over a long period.
>>
>>153298196
There's also the fact that movies aren't the center of popular culture anymore, videogames have been displacing them as a medium as the main form of media engagement.
>>
>>153298118
as long as you like 2003 hulk, raimi spiderman, hbo's spawn, and first punisher movie then yes you are just like me

Nigga there were people in here unironically spamming "no cultural impact" about Zootopia 2 only a week after it released
>>
>>153298533
That movie made a billion dollars. Superman got shilled HARD and didn't make half that.
>>
>>153298540
How does Superman do a bit better in the box office than fucking Sonic?
>>
>>153298551
Capeshit fatigue + Tarnished brand + Superman not being big overseas. The film did well in the U.S but underperformed internationally.
>>
>>153298607
>Tarnished brand
Nice try, Supernerd.
>>
>>153288185
You said ANY iron man, captain America or Thor movie. So I picked the first one of each to compare it to MoS. They lost massively. Heck, I'm pretty sure Captain America lost a lot of money, comparison aside.
>>
Superman is for redditors
>>
>>153298665
I'm refering to Superman specifically, not only DC. Like the character or not, it's undeniable he was in a rough spot amongst general audiences.

The DCEU had films planned too, my retarded friend. Then they started to lose money.
>>
>>153298683
>it's undeniable he was in a rough spot amongst general audiences.
I don't think so. Majority of people bitching were Supernerds like Mark Waid crying Murderman everywhere. Dude was getting called a brooding psychopath and everything. Just a whole lot of sperging.

>punches a guy's teeth out

Superman just isn't it.
>>
>>153295026
>Losing to Lex, his arch nemesis
>Losing to a chunk of kryptonite, his iconic weakness and that even coined a new term for weakness
>Losing to someone just as strong as Superman
>Losing to, yes, one literally who, who was stated to have been modified with defeating him in mind, and whom he manages to beat
I wouldn't say that's jobbing. Especially since you weren't meant to think of any of those as "woah, such a badass villain they can even beat SUPERMAN"
>>
>>153298697
When "different politics" is "I wanna invade their land, make it mine, slaughter every last one of their kind, and sell what's left to Lex" yeah that requires something beyond Talk No Jutsu. He's a super hero, he still acts in the name of good and kindness. This is like complaining Spider-Man is mean to his villains and beats the hell out of them instead of befriending them and letting them rob banks because they really need the money. Go watch Steven Universe if you need love and kindness to be a shackle.
>>
>>153298792
This further proves that Spider-Man and Batman will be the only superheroes constantly getting movies even after the genre completely dies out. They're just on a bigger level of recognition and marketability.

I said A Captain America movie, Iron Man movie, and Thor movie. Why would I compare movies that came out different summers under different circumstances? And really Man of Steel is the sixth Superman movie, doesn’t matter if it’s a “reboot” it’s still the sixth movie.
>>
>>153298732
>Majority of people bitching were Supernerds like Mark Waid crying Murderman everywhere
Ask literally any normie about Man of Steel and they’re going to say “is that the depressing one where Superman breaks a guy’s neck at the end?”

>>
>>153299542
>snyder still posts shit about his dc movies
I remember before Rebel Moon came out he was going on and on about how he’s moved on from DC and would never ever ever want to revisit the “Snyderverse” then Rebel Moon comes out with the worst thud in cinematic history and he’s back to posting DC shit and telling his cult “well Y’know never say never about me coming back to finish Justice Leagues 2 and 3 ^_~” knowing full well WB wants nothing to do with him and he’s just hoping his cult will keep harassing WB to hire him again
>>
>>153299434
He called a guy with no nose Squidward. He's plenty corny in his own way. But even someone like Batman, who's much nore serious, doesn't really contradict my argument. I said corniness doesn't interfere. It's optional, and Clark has it, and he's not alone in it. When someone can save everyone inside a building and throw cars around, you tend to not give a shit if they're a little goofy.
>>
>>153299723
>DBZ
I said “normies” not weebs and blacks.
>>
"Kindness is the new Punk Rock!! We're all Human."

Superman literally threatens Netanyahu and makes him piss himself in this movie, anon
>>
>>153299628
He is different. He's symbolic of the good in and for humanity, fighting for justice isn't flowing against that.
>Help to my side, death to yours
I must've missed the part where Clark reversed the genocide by slaughtering the other side. As far as I saw he only killed immediate threats trying to kill him. Hell he didn't even kill Lex, after all the shit he pulled.
>>
>>153299788

>>153279342
i like the movie
>>
>Libnigs glaze it on social media because some brown bitch killed a Juden stand in

I mean, it was alright, but when the crowd that thinks they are owed everything swarms it...don't expect to get paid for it.
>>
>>153301580
>He killed a bunch of Lex’s flying soldiers
There's literally a shot in the middle of that scene that shows them moving when injured to show the audience they're not dead
>>
the 1978 movie saved superman from obscurity by re-mythologizing him as a superior man from a superior culture.

superman is silly again. he needs another mythological masterpiece to reassert his cultural presence.
>>
>>153299682
Why would you compare the first movie to the first movie? I wonder, my braindead anon!
>>
>>153301580
>and his team who he works with killed countless hundreds of the soldiers as well as graphically killing their prime minister
So that's, other heroes then? Not him? He's already been shown to not be happy with killing, in a scene with his team. None of which were explicitly murderous to the antagonists other than Hawkgirl taking out (not graphically at all lol) a sellout genocidal prime minister, yes. Did you shed a tear for humanity that he didn't go to prison or something instead?
>>153301606
"Me kill you for being my enemy" you can't dumb this down into nonsense; yes if a force is coming at you with murderous intent and your only option for keeping yourself and many innocents alive is to kill it, you kill it. There's no gray morality here, the bad guys were evil, Supes was good, he acted for good. There was a moral tangle early on with his wisdom in how he dispenses force, and truthfully that needed more exploration, but there can't really be a simple conclusion to it, that's a morality hypothetical.
>Narcissist
He's not doing it for jollies and purity, he's acting to save people, and he's succeeding. You can throw around all sorts of What Ifs and What Abouts for Superman, they've been done to death, but here in this movie he's saving the day, because he's a superman.
>>
>>153302101
>a superior man from a superior culture
Oh hi Zack
>>
There's a very blatant anti-DC shill force on this board, has been for a good while now. Marvel Comics are at an all time low, and all they can do is have interns talk shit online. Pathetic
>>
>>153302006
So they didn't die shortly afterward despite being lasered and thrown from a 7 story height, and mauled by Krypto who has 0 self control?
Big doubt.
>>
>>153302181
They don't have to. Marvel pandered to autists and since nobody talks to them, they're thankful for the rest of their worthless lives and spend them seething about the opposition.
They are the kind to ironically support democracy but only if it's like a dictatorship where the thing they like remains always in power, then shit and piss themselves when it doesn't.
It's why there was such an smear campaign for MoS. Can't have a competitor for my beloved Marvel slop full of quips and retardation.
>>
>>153302208
Whether that's the most realistic outcome or not is one thing, but leaving it as if they die is obviously not the intent. A movie whose main goal is to return Superman to a pre-MoS status, and which makes it a point that the guy doesn't kill is not going to aim for having the villain's lackeys killed by Clark. The mere fact that the scene shifts to show them moving on the ground reinforces the idea.
>>
>>153302181
Nigga there's been threads clowning on Marvel for months now here

All I hear about marvel these days is Paul shit. I don't hear anything about DC. I don't think this is targeted grunt work, just a slump and usual shitposting.

how in the fuck hasn't that been a thing for years? that is insane and inexplicable. literally conspiracy tier

The action scenes sucked ass. Thats my only real opinion of the movie.
>>
>>153302154
Man of Steel is the sixth Superman movie.
>bbbbbbbbbbbbut it’s a reboot
Normal people literally do not give a shit. It’s the sixth Superman movie to the general audience. It’s retarded to compare box office receipts for movies released in different years. Cultures change, audiences change, who knows what can happen. Compare the box office of 2019 to the box office of 2020.

its a woefully incomplete list, so much so its worthless.
>>
>>153307957
Even beyond that list, the reach of those two is clear as day. Keep in mind, they already were succesful film franchises BEFORE the superhero genre became the dominant force in Hollywood.
>>
>>153307975
so was superman, big screen and small, that's a strange argument. I believe batman is larger, how spider-man and x-men compare I wouldn't be so quick to just guess.
>>
>>153302155
There was a simple conclusion to it: Supersoiboy and the Justice Faggots murdered every enemy soldier in a foreign country and tortured their presidente to death.
Then Superman patted himself on the back and acted like he just redefined the mold of morality and kindness by being a government dog just like every MCU superhero already did 1000x.

It’s a movie for low iq narcissists who think you’re speshul for doing exactly what everyone else does and hating the people you’re told to hate, and defining empathy as “only for my friends”.
