I'm not saying that Peach is incapable of fighting, but the core aspect of her character is that she's dainty and wouldn't just jump into danger unless she absolute needs to. Mario's also an unusual production in that it was equally co-financed by both Illumination and Nintendo, so however you slice it, the 55 mil. production split plus the (likely) ~300 mil. marketing blitz is paying off. About 710 million prod. cost total, not as big a profit as you think but they've definitely broken even, and this is without the JP market. They're counting on streaming deals, digital sales, and merchandise partnerships to make this films excessively profitable... just like every other Illumination production.
