The whole thing is just a reaction to the Iraq invasion and all the bullshit America has done over the decades that allowed a 9/11 to happen in the first place. William Butcher ain’t who he is in the comic because of the Homelander. War made him that way. Same with Frenchie and MM. Yeah there was the obvious “Batman fucks Robins” and Professor X is a dirty pedo jokes, but the heart of The Boys was war commentary dating back to the World Wars. The show has FUCK ALL to say about anything since it went full “orange man bad” and referencing modern pop culture. The comic at least had a solid plan, narrative and story that it told from Issue #1. The show is nothing but wheel spinning, fly by the seat of your pants nonsense making itself up and contradicting itself season by season as it stumbles over the finish line.

You're all approaching this from a wrong angle because Nietzsche's work really has to be contextualized in relation to his life.And one of the best examples of this fact is that for all his talk about abandoning what he saw as "weak" morals. The man himself once had an emotional mental breakdown seeing someone mistreat a horse.Here's the reality, when you look at Nietzsche's life, he was very antithetical to the Ubermensch concept he talks about.His syphilis had been causing him mental and later physical problems for decades and he was being treated in-line with what many would consider a charity case. Largely robbed of his dignity and confined to a room, a lot of what we'd consider his most sociopathic work takes to the tune of a severely disabled man who has lost massive amounts of his prior function, begging the people around him to let him die. And it's not anything against the value of his philosophy, rather it's perhaps the very foundation of what it contributed. The key criticism Nietzsche made in regards to "killing God" was proving that the old moral frameworks left room where people were just defaulting on "the good people thing to do" with little regard for the finer details of a situation, ironically leading to more suffering."But Nietzsche himself was by no means unaware of the negative potential of his philosophy. That's what the whole "the abyss gazes back" part was about. He knew damn well that people could take the moral relativity concepts he was establishing and use it to justify any number of actions, which is why the nazis removed or downplayed certain things in addition to grafting racial ideology onto his work when they edited it.So, how much he'd be in favor of these edgy anti-heroes is kind of a coin flip because the man was far more emotional and conventional than he let on
