>The big green-shirted guy, and Eloediel as both Watt and Qtip, the robots!

Gianni's voice for a main character kinda sux.
It wasn't that funny, the least flaccid joke was the robot using concrete scraping noises to zip forward like a statue. A literal youtube gmod joke.

These youtuber voice actors are terrible. Whenever they speak you are always aware that its a person talking into a mic instead of a character inside of a world.

It's hilarious how some people thought they'd be able to get industry quality writing and acting with indie stuff.
You might get good animation since that's the Creator's specialty but beyond that it's a coin toss

Most of us don't work in animation or aspire to work in animation so how could that possibly be true?

Maybe we just hate stuff that sucks.

Zach shows up in too many things now, I'm getting a bit bored of his voice. He was even in the Cas Gnome pilot the other day.

A real answer is that for like 2 decades how this kind of art style, animation, and humor has been heavily associated with lowbrow online animations. Stuff that's fun but also cheap and not worth being taken seriously, while also holding the concept of a "real show" to a higher standard mainly based off the best of the best from the 90s and 2000s.
Its kinda like how you can look at a modern writer and see that they never properly unlearned their fanfiction sensibilities and how it negatively affects both their work.
I know its obvious in relation ot the thread to bring up Smiling Friends but that is a "online" style brought up to "show" level sensibilities. Shortage Electric is still to close to something one could of seen for free on Newgrounds circa 2012 for it to to feel right giving it the Show treatment.
>>
>>153313094
Nah, anons think it's the same but there's a difference between the trained writers on shows vs some bloke on YouTube.
Many anons think anyone can just get up and write a good script but you have to be a very specific type of person. You think anyone here can write something on par with classic Simpsons (or even s11-18 tier)?
I have never seen a good piece of writing from someone who wasn't actively trained for it or has decades of experience
>>
>>153313630
Comics are seen as a smaller, older, more ossified industry where you don't expect new people to pop up that often, while animation despite it all is seen as a young persons game (mostly due to lack of job security outside of film animation but I digress) with a lot of movement and churn leading to the assumption that someone engaging with the industry is more likely to be around.
>>
>>153313722
That's a good thing, though. I like old newgrounds shit so this is right up my alley
>>
>>153313105
Everyone is a critic. You should never take online opinions seriously

>>153311893

>>
>>153313767
I think the biggest difference is that online animators lack the same level of timing and pacing combined with joke density.
And so rely more on erratic snap actions to convey humor.
>>
>>153313785
And that's fair in the same way one can like fanfiction.
But you understand why someone wouldn't want fanfiction type writing in the TV show they watch right?

All the ones I liked are either dead or old. Nobody on /co/ discusses those shows. When's the last time we had a Big Lez thread? Have you seen a single soul discuss the likes of Gundarr, Cat-Man, or Deep Space 69 around here once? Happiness and Cyanide, for well over a decade now, has released weekly shorts and full length anthology episodes, but nobody here discusses a single one of them. Then you get stuff like Becky Prim or LGG which develops a following but burns out fast when the pilots fail to catch on.

Anons really just hate any indie cartoon with the word pilot in its title (at least if it never has a followup)
If most of these "shows" stopped pretending they're on tv, anons would subconsciously be more lenient on them
I don't even blame the creators, this is what happens when the actual, proper industry collapses. People were nowhere near as picky over 2000s-2010s internet cartoons because no one, not even the creators, expected them to stack up against real shows
SK and Sublo are some of the few indie cartoons that have more than one or two installments

>>
>>153317133
I have come to the conclusion that a good chunk of people /here/ across all boards due to their lackluster social skills want every art/animation team to be made by the project head looking over a universal database of portfolios and then going "yes! artist #4763970 would be perfect for my project lets hire them" with no regards to any personal matters or interactions.
>>
>>153317550
Anons here have little to no clue how animation is made in general. It's actually astonishing how little they know about animation production.
Reminds me of Mr Enter who thought he knew enough about making a cartoon so he made a Kickstarter for 350k. He had no team or studio in mind prior and just expected to get studios to make tests for him. He also expected to be able to sustain this all via patreon afterwards.
>>
>>153317827
All of /co/ knowledge comes from instances of single accomplished animators working on single scenes back during the cel era and the mid-2010s boarding culture info given by the people who made Steven Universe on their tumblrs.
Even just trying to explain the difference between Boarder and Writers Room Driven shows is a pain unless they are a slapstick only autist that makes it into a culture war.

Not that anon but it's just boring and unfunny, it really over relies on "realistic" dialogue to be entertaining when the actors don't have the skills to do it well. Not everyone is an antisocial schizophrenic sperg like you. And even antisocial spergs can do it, but you're so pathetic that you can't even do the bare minimum.

Based autists like Liam Vickers went from writing autistic creepypasta waifu fics, making his own music, to making his own cartoon animatics, to working up enough connections for Glitch to offer to produce a show for him that he'll show run - way back when Glitch started their indie cartoon push with Murder Drones.

You will never accomplish your dreams being a deluded, pessimistic basement dweller.
>>
>>153318289
As the other posters have stated, it's just not funny. It's been a long time since I've watched the episodes, and I no longer have access to my long detailed post about it. But to put it simply, it doesn't take advantage of being a cartoon, and the characters are extremely bland. It's very easy to "fix" Day Job, just staple actual funny/exaggerated and dynamic characteristics to the characters. Just put something like Mission Hill beside it and you'll notice it immediately.
What can you tell me about the characters in DJ? You have the main boy, who's poor, but not enough that it interferes in his life or is funny. He's a stoner, but not A stoner, so it's not stoner funny and it once again doesn't add anything to his character. What about the main girl? Well she's in a relationship with main guy, we didn't see it start and it seems it's mostly a sex thing that basically happens off-screen. They have a fight, but it's resolved in the same episode. And their dynamic is simply that, they kind of dig eachother and have sex. They don't hate one another but bang, they're not obsessed with one another, they're just a fling and it adds nothing. She's also studying law, I think? But that was only used in the same episode it was introduced, for a bit that went too long. The Boss man is a worse version of the Boss in Mission Hill, I assume it's made worse because DJ is afraid of actually making him a terrible guy or too afraid to make him the stereotypical greedy Greek man. Then I think you have a girly girl, which I don't remember much of, I think she does small talk with the other girl and complains about work?! And to end it you have the 2 comedic relief idiots, who are not used to their potential and often absent from most episodes, there was something else about them that bothered me but I don't recall. In the end, they're all too similar with their blandness, and they lack any sort of animosity to one another. They all like eachother including the Boss.

Couldnt get past like 5 minutes of the pilot fuck that dime a dozen mid 2010s le self aware slop. I thought the writing would at least make up for how dogshit the visuals are. People who hate TADC should direct their ire towards Murder Drones, it actually deserves it for doing what TADC gets criticized for at an actually invasive and, ironically, non self aware level.

>they lack any sort of animosity to one another. They all like eachother including the Boss.
This is definitely a problem I've seen in indie stuff but even things from big studios. Writers are afraid to have their characters be mean to each other, but when every ones nice its really boring and unrealistic. Even the nicest person you know who gets along with everyone has someone they don't like.
>>
>>153320306
You're judging an entire show purely on the pilot, overall it's not nearly as bad as you're trying to make it out to be.

The pilot is obviously the weakest part but the rest of the episodes are far superior. Give it an actual try instead of shitting yourself and trying to tribalfag with TADC because of one quirkychungus line.

>>153320336
It certainly doesn't fit the scenario of
>dead end job with teens/young adults
Even Nickelodeon shows understood that. And it's not like they need to hate eachother; an example I remember giving was the anime Osomatsu-san. A series following 6 brothers, each with very distinct personality traits, who are always backstabbing one another and getting on eachothers nerves. But y'know, they still love their brothers.

Yet another example in the wild of a TADC fanboy directing his seethe towards Murder Drones when people praise MD at all
Likely because you're insecure about whatever complaints you've seen about TADC and you cope by overexaggerating about the sibling show from the same producers instead of enjoying shows in a vacuum without bias

Many such cases, you seem like a miserable person who can't enjoy new things apart from your current hyperfixation
