It's like how, and sorry for continuing to run the obvious comparison into the ground, Terry really only works as a Batman successor. He's much more distinct as a successor Batman than Miles as a successor Spider-Man, and having Bruce be his active, long term mentor when Miles has really never had that, but even so Terry just flatout would not work if he were in Batman Inc. He'd just be another largely unseen global Bat-Individual with no real standout features. Because in Batman Inc. Bruce is still the "real" Batman.Miles is only even partially decent if he IS Spider-Man, which is, of course, the entire problem. Just like Spider-Gwen, he couldn't really maintain his own universe and so they folded him into the main universe to try and get some sort of continual use of him, but now he's lost the only thing had going for him aside from being Black Spider-Man. Fuck, his big movie is just him getting Peter as a mentor anyway, and the implication at the end was he could now stand on his own. But the movie's hook was being about multi-universe Spider-People, so now his sequel has to have them farting around to and refusing to develop Miles as a genuinely independent character. All they can do in this situation is try to compare him favorably to the other Spiders, which brings us back around to the problem we had to begin with: having to shill Miles by making everyone else job. Because he can't stand on his own so they don't try any more.
