They should make a Transformers comic series like the IDW Saturday Morning Adventures, doing new stories in the cartoon continuity. It could be the missing years between Season 2 and the Movie and include all the guys who didn't make it in the show like The Deluxe Insecticons and the Omnibots and show what happened to characters like Elita-1.

Prime getting killed off elevated the franchise to something memorable instead of being forgotten like so many other Pre-TMNT 80's franchises.Transformers without the 86 movie is kept on life-support by a toy company that wants to replicate it's first two years of success, like MOTU or GI Joe ARAH. Or god help us, Thundercats.

Ultimately those guys won and by now the core of the 84 cast are locked into most iterations of Transformers forever.
