Makes sense. Deadpool in the comics is more or less Bojack Horseman as a red Deathstroke minus the chomo, and you can't really make a blockbuster capeshit series about a horrible person perpetually throwing himself a pity party. Hence why the films more or less jumped to Deadpool at the end of his character development but using that as the basis for the trilogy.

His story is over.
