Aside from Shakespeare adaptations and reinterpretations, what are the most Shakespearean comics you've come across, in terms of poetic language, multidimensional characters, and elaborate plots?
Beauty by Hubert and Kerascoet. I could see this being adapted into a Shakespeare play even, I think he would dig it if he could read it.
>>153319311well shit I dropped my image, recommend everyone read it.

>>153319289Homestuck >terms of poetic language, multidimensional characters, and elaborate plots?Anon, Shakespeare is pop shlock, that was just how people talked back then.
>>153319289From Hell. Gull's poetic dialogue, essentially soliloquy, during the tour of London is one of my favorite parts of the comic.
>>153319376High school English classes have destroyed the average person's ability to tell what is or isn't high art. Shakespeare has always been midwit tier, especially in his own era. High brow theatre was and arguably still is opera.Shakespeare has fart jokes for fuck's sake. Fart jokes.
>>153319376>Anon, Shakespeare is pop shlockWho gives a shit? These descriptors still apply. >>153319457>Fart jokes. So do Moby-Dick and Ulysses.

>>153319289>multidimensional characters, and elaborate plotsYou might as well add "good art" to these and you've described what a good comic is. Idk why you even needed to mention Shakespeare. The generic response would be Watchmen. >>153319376>HomestuckIt shits the bed big time multiple times. Elaborate plots need good conclusions.>inb4 that's the point of homestuck
>>153319359Qrd?
>>153319444I couldn't get past the art style
>>153321446Damn.
>>153319890Not for the most Shakespearean comics, as his language is vernacular, the plots are played straight and the characters are archetypal.

>>153329771I'd love Spada.
>>153330258It looks good. Not sure why no one wants to print his comics in English. I'd think it would do decent enough in terms of sales (at least compared to other Fantagraphic comics that isn't peanuts or Disney related)
Shit

>>153324101Filtered like a pleb
>>153324701That's not Shakespearean, that's low-brow entertainment. The former being the latter of its time doesn't mean they're the same thing right now.

>>153319289Jodorowsky's stuff, I guess. That scene where DiFool "reunites" with his father is pretty Shakespearean
