Seriously, what people sees in this movie that makes it think it's great? Because this is the epitome of smug, condescending and insincere filmaking at all, along with being a really bad script as a whole and a not-so-good characterization of their characters.
>>
It's a kids movie I don't know. I think it's just supposed to be entertaining and not a particularly deep commentary on the human psyche.

>It's a kids movie I don't know
Many adults, specially at the time of it's release in 2007, treated this film like it was The Goodfather of CG films, even to this day you see this attitude frequently.

I really don't, I see jokes about being controlled by a rat and the fact his name is "Remy" and not "Ratatouille". I don't know where you're hanging out where people are sucking this movie's dick.

It's a movie about food. What, do you not like food?

I've literally never heard someone say anything even close to this

>smug
Maybe I'm about to reveal how dumb I am, but how can a movie be "smug?" I've seen this criticism before and I've never quite understood it
>condescending
How is Ratatouille condescending? Condescension, to me, means talking down to the audience. Treating them as little idiots. The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure is a condescending kids movie. Barney the Dinosaur, that's the ultimate example. Ratatouille expected kids to be able to handle concepts often not shown in kids movies, especially death. It always bugs me when kids movies refuse to show death, even if it's in the story.
>insincere
How is it insincere? It's clearly a passion project the creators put thought and work into. An insincere movie is a paint by numbers moneymaking scheme, like the Star Wars sequels, those are insincere movies.

WTF!!!!??????

It had a troubled developement where the story changed drastically (Gusteau was alive for a while) and some of is wonky; Skinner looms large as a villian for a while, but he never actually gets anywhere with his scheme to whore out Gusteau's legacy and then he becomes irrelevent; then the antagoism shifts to Ego, who has nothing to do with Skinner.
