>>153336188This is solid propf how dumb it is to try and redeem SBP, that for his redemption arc to even work he has to skip over all the hard part of working to be redeemed and just be already redeemed in the eyes of everyone just so he can be redeemed on the eyes of everyone.

>>153339090Anon the real reason is fujos want to see sbp and jason fuck that's it
Its obvious reading the comic that prime still has issues and he constantly is talking like he's redeemed when for what he did you need to constantly be a better man.
>>153339114It's not a joke tho, it's just bad writing.
>>153339153Autism.
>>153336119I don't want you to mess up, CK.

>>153339183>It acknowledged he has done horrible thingsNo it's the exact opposite actually where it's trying to sidestep what SBP has done.
Honestly I think this issue just highlights a common issue I've noticed with Williamson from reading basically all his DC runs.I remember Christopher Priest, back when he was writing Black Adam, pointing out how dumb it was that writers like Bendis and Williamson were letting Black Adam hang out with the Justice League as if he didn't just completely annihilate a country back in 52. >Talia being responsible for the destruction of Markovia? Oh, but she is Damian's mother! The real monster of the story is Geo-Force for trying to avenge his country and his sister.>Cheshire nuking a country? When did that happen? She is allowed to hang out with the Arrow family!>Superboy Prime massacring half of the Teen Titans in Infinite Crisis? No big deal! Ma Kent has forgiven him so it's all fineThey should have had Prime go to Titans Tower or to Kon instead of hanging out with Williamson's pet character Damian. Don't half-ass this premise.
>>153339153Editorial boxes usually say>Check out X bookAn editorial box instead saying>Don't check out X bookis meant to be a joke because that's the exact opposite of what those do.
>>153339292>Christopher PriestFunny you mention him cause he wrote a Superboy-Prime story for the Marvel crossover where he also portrays him as a conflicted character looking for redemption.
>>153339336Just to clarify, there is no issue with an story about Superboy Prime looking for redemption. That's a fine enough story. The dumb part to me is having Damian or Ma Kent validate him.
>>153338576>Dick literally just stole Jon from Damian. That was less Dick, and more Jon and Damian being pushed in different directions.Jon being groomed as the next Superman and needing guidance, while Damian was running from everyone looking for redemption after almost falling into villainy. It also didn't help that the same hack writer was writing Nightwing and Jon around the same time.Even then, Dick would make sense as a kind of mentor for Jon whether the age up happened or not, it's just that it happened at a bad time when Damian was out of the picture and Jon was a completely different character.
Why do we have this attempt to redeem sbp? Didn't he already get redeem by sacrificng himself to defeat batlol and then got back in his world with his gf?In fact, why is he not with his gf?
>>153339416are you the one anon that's been slowly melting down over the past month over sbp?
>>153339292I think it's fine to start a "Prime redemption arc" like this, personally. Give him softballs. Lois playing nice, the Kents being wary but still the Kents, he can get some easy lay-ups for a bit because he's purposefully avoiding the shit he did. So long as before the end of it they force him to face up for everything, that's what this whole thing is predicated upon. The Titans basically have to dress him down with probably the entire cast refusing to ever interact with him, same goes for the GLs (even if they get massacred every other week) where he's almost blackballed from the cosmic side of DC.I think there's room to build up to the more abrasive side of his character rehabilitation.
>>153339425No, it's the first issue of this I've checked out, because I noticed it has sbp.tl;dr? I really got no clue
>>153339392I can't believe I'm going to praise Adams but the only time aged-up Jon Kent worked for me is in that DC KO tie-in where he is portrayed as being completely out of his depth babysitting a bunch of kids and everyone dismisses him as a nepokid.
>>153339446I think you just want to see SBP suffer and cut off from most of the DC cast
>>153339446Who the fuck care if Superboy Prime is rehabilitated though? That's my entire opinion on this matter, like why the investment?
>>153339377I think it makes complete sense that a character who is usually portrayed as full of love and compassion, and a character who has also been in a journey for redemption, validate Prime and understand his plight.Of course, you have others that don't trust him, that's why PG is there, Prime isn't exactly popular, like he said, he has many people waiting for him to mess up, it's not like everyone just accepts him right away.
>>153339292I’ll admit it’s kinda weird that it’s Damian of all people. Conner definitely should be the one he apologizes too. Kara too.
>>153339446If Hal "I'm gonna erase all timelines" Jordan can be redeemed I don't see why Prime can't
>>153336147>>153336144Batassholes are annoyingHow anyone really likes, much less wants to read about the batfam is stupidly absurd unless all they are doing is reading unlikely junk on the lines of Wayne Family Wankers Adventures The entire no-metas/no help in Gotham is just admission than anyone else could clean up that city far better than Batgod or any of his billions of child minions/clones/soldiers ever will but the point isn't solving much less stopping those crimes but wash, rinse and repeat of stupid, pointless joker/riddler/freeze, etc. stories.
>>153339491When are you gonna acknowledge this performative bullshit? The death metal tie-on wasn't that great you guys that SBP needs to become a regular.

>>153339522Because he's not essential to anything.
>>153339453It was fun, I'll admit, but only because they acknowledged how much Jon sucks at it.I feel similarly with the current Unlimited arc, we all know Jon sucks, we just have to do something about it.Tomorrow Man and bringing back young Jon is a start.
>>153339550>for all the other heroes know, Prime just bailed.Oh so there's even less reason to give him any kind of grace.
>>153339495Because it’s fun to read? You are the exact type of person Johns was making fun off.
>>153339582How can it be fun to read when there's nothing about this story that works? Like the other guy said, this is too half-assed.
>>153339522Big yellow bug, please understand.
>>153339577The only reason they give him grace and haven't thrown him into some super hail again is because he helped out in the lead up to DC KO and Superman vouched for him before he disappeared. Also the fact that he isn't doing anything evil right now.
>>153339550>pocket dimension by trapperlame. it was a cool ending for himoh well, nothing ever ends in comics, this is fun too
>>153339542Who said anything about him being a regular? Its been set up as one story arc before Clark comes back lol seethe harder
>>153338782Depends on if Williamson remembers that.Prime was originally immune to Kryptonite, magic, and red sun radiation. They then changed that to just kryptonite and magic. And they might be forgetting about the magic thing too, the solicitation could be referring to magic as his weakness, or as Clark's weakness, we'll see.
>>153339652>Who said anything about him being a regular?Isn't it fairly obvious Prime is gonna be starring in the Williamson Legion of Superheroes series?
>>153338904>>153338962Some people can and do forgive without what y'all seem to view as redemption. It's no different than John Paul the II going to visit the guy in prison almost immediately after that papal assassination attempt - even though those were serious injuries. Some people are all about vengeance - you can see that today in politics and other ways. There's no point in doing that. Yes, not everyone can be redeemed but you also can't tie every fictional character to their fictional past because some lazy writer at some point in time couldn't come up with better solutions or better plot points that some idiotic plot contrivance and now have everyone live with it ad infinitum.Everything might be canon now and every story might matter but that still has contradictions and you can't allow for that and not allow for this. It's patently absurd.
>>153339681I think the Legion of Super-Heroes are actually gonna be the ones starring in the Legion of Super-Heroes book.
>>153339644>lame. it was a cool ending for himI'm right there with you man, this insekai bullshit where they're bending over backwards to make him the main character.
>>153339681And? The Legion will obviously be the main focus of the Legion of Superheroes run.
>>153339810And that still make the point about him a regular on there still valid.

>Prime is a remorseless killerthese people did read how the killing started, right? he's in horror the whole time.he never fought any supervillains in his home universe, he had no experience on how to hold back OR experience being ganged up on by a bunch of heroes. he is also not an adult.he wasn't actually trying to instakill Pantha, but once that happened everyone around him made it a fight to the(ir) death. it's AFTER accidentally killing Pantha that he starts spiraling, and it's very easy to read his apathy as essentially the only coping mechanism he has during Infinite Crisis. he doesn't know anybody in any of these universes (except through comics), nobody knows him at all, he's got nobody actually on his side, and his power and maturity are the equivalent of handing ICBM launch codes to a kid in the middle of a tantrum.Geoff Johns effectively took a child that was given a fairytale ending in 1985 out of his "happily ever after," turned off the usual comic book suspensions of disbelief that lets characters shrug off hits they arguably shouldn't, turned on gore and limb damage, and threw hero after hero at Prime specifically to kill them. then he turns into a morality punching bag (as in, made even more comically evil just to dunk on him more) in part because fans hate being disingenuously caricatured as a strawman villain and thus hated him in Infinite Crisis. then they kinda mellow on him and nobody wants to touch him anymore, and they eventually give him his fairytale ending back.his redemption arc starts before Death Metal, BTW.also, he's been taken out of his fairytale ending again, and it's even been retconned into being a simulacrum the whole time. as far as we know Prime has no home universe to go back to anymore. i'd really like to see him interact with Power Girl both to try and make amends and because they both have the same problem of being characters without a home universe.

>>153365750Anon I'm gonna be honest, there's no human way to come up with a redemption arc for Superboy Prime. He has massacred millions and millions of people with unrepentant glee. There's no way you can be introduced to Superboy Prime through Identity Crisis and think he's just misunderstood.
>>153366340Honest to god I don't remember him killing millions. Which I fully expect he could have done, I just don't remember. Huh.
>>153366325Issue 28 of the current Superman run, start there.

>>153366364Oh are you talking about the panel where Prime says "This place isn't even real, some pocket universe" I took that to mean that Superman and Prime were meeting up in a neutral place or something set up by the Time Trapper. At the least there was nothing that his reality was fake.Unless that's in a later issue.
>>153366414>Superboy Prime killing people in Identity Crisis?uhhhh I assume you mean Infinite Crisis. But like it's been said multiple times, most of those came back.>Or Sinestro Corps war?Same, most important ones came back, the rest were just unnamed fodder, Hal and friends killed a bunch of people in that war as well.>Or Legion of 3 worlds? There was an attempt, but at the end, Prime was defeated and the deaths didn't really matter anyway.
>>153366403My guy that wasn't me.>>153366414My guy yes I remember that, but not millions. Unless I forgot. I mean not in Sinestro Corps War or Legion of Three Worlds. I think I've revisited those more recently than Infinite. Which I actually don't think I've ever revisited.
>>153365750Remorse doesn't absolve one of their actions.

I see what you're trying to do, trying to put the onus on me to prove he has killed literally millions of people but if anything I think the burden of proof is on you.Remember that he's a mass murderer with a silver age Superman strength level. Why would that not result in mass casualties?
>>153366447>most of those came back. Can you actually prove that?
>>153366516>Why wouldn't he have killed millions?Anon, a million is a big number, hundreds or thousands would probably be more appropiate.
>>153366516what the fuck are you talking about? This isn't a tenth level political debate. I don't remember that happening is all.
>>153366534See I knew that's where you were going with this, like I literally said so here:>I see what you're trying to do, trying to put the onus on me to prove he has killed literally millions of people But again that begs the question of why would you doubt the fact that he has killed en masse.
>>153366545I'm not the anon you were talking to, I was just saying.
>>153366529I mean, the ones that everyone usually talks about are Kon, Risk and Pantha, who all came back later.Sure Risk was killed again, but blame Taylor for that.Kal-L is the big one whose death was too big to simply ignore I feel, PG should definitely bring that up later.
>>153366540This isn't a debate about politics, it's a debate about comics. You are most certainly making the argument that Superboy Prime redemption arc is feasible while I'm saying it's downright impossible.
>>153366452>>153366550it's the schizo, don't worry about him. he's got such a retarded hateboner for Prime it makes me want to root for Prime's redemption out of sheer spite
>>153366550It doesn't if you're a different person if you're still trying to make the same point.
>>153366563Anon the fuck are you on about? All I ever said was I don't remember him killing millions.>>153366567ooooh one of those types.
take ur meds. prime deserves death.
>>153366574I don't know what that point is anon, I'm just referring to what is actually shown and said.Prime definitely couldn't have killed "millions" from just Lanterns or Legionnaires, his body count from that would be actually quite small.
>>153366567Yeah dude I do have a serious problem with the geniune entitlement that is coming from the pro-Superboy Prime faction here. It's just weird to act like ripping people apart barehanded is a moral neutral act.
>>153366606I really hope you don't read/watch Invincible for your own sake lmao
>>153366597>All I ever said was I don't remember him killing millions.Yeah we already established you're trying to make it a literal figure but if somebody said there was a million of stars in the night sky do you call them liar or do you understand how euphemisms work?
>>153366614I don't but for different reasons but even in the context of Invincible the vluktraiolence is meant to be a gorefest because that was Kirkman's central premise of subverting superheroes.
>>153366629I didn't know it was a euphemism. Because that would be a stupid place for one. And I wasn't sure if I forgot a story. So I asked for clarification. And you were a loon about it.
>>153366602But are you doubting these are mass murdering sprees?
>>153366629If we're going to be seriously talking about Prime's crimes, we should ideally talk about what we actually know and not use hyperbole or euphemisms.Specially since characters killing millions is actually possible in comics, it can create confusion.
>>153366644I mean it in the sense that they also have characters who have killed a lot working towards redemption lol
>>153366658Nah, Prime 100% did kill a bunch of people, and it's a cool part about his character that shouldn't be ignored, specially now that he's trying to do better, it's interesting.
>>153366653>I didn't know it was a euphemismI flatout explained to you it was when I pointed out how this exactly gonna try to frame your argument, of taking my usuage of millions as a literal figure as if I was literally taking a tally of the deaths. No, I immediately pointed out the usuage of millions was basically synonymous with countless as in he has killed countless peoples.
>>153366671But on the scale of Superboy Prime? The closest analogue of that I can is Black Adam which doesn't really work because Black Adam is still an antagonist to the superhero community and even then that grace kinda went out the window when he went on his mass murder spree.
>>153366689You really seem to be under the impression that there is no possible redemption for murderers, at least when they get to a certain number of kills apparently.
>>153366682Is it? because that headspace is just petty entitlement that leads to lashing out in anger.
>>153366707>But on the scale of Superboy Prime?Yeah lol, Omni-Man probably killed more innocent civilians when fighting Mark than Prime killed Lanterns during Sinestro Corps War, and that's just from the kills we see.But then he feels bad about it and the rest of the series is him trying to be better.
>>153366362>Honest to god I don't remember him killing millionswell, he didn't, really. schizos make shit up and flail autistically when it gets called out, news at 11.
>>153366689You did not explain shit to me.
>>153366708Well not everyone deserves a redemption arc and Superboy Prime is most certainly one of those characters who doesn't.
>>153366719It's part of it, but seeing Prime struggle is pretty interesting I think, he's a flawed conflicted character and that's cool.
>>153366740He doesn't feel bad though, he gloats about it actually which is the exact opposite of feeling bad.
>>153366749What struggle?
>>153366747But who decides that? He clearly wants to be better now.Would you say someone who only killed once, but doesn't regret it and still wants to kill more is more deserving of redemption over someone who, let's say, killed a thousand innocents, but now regrets it and geniuenly wants to do better?Just trying to gauge what you think matters more, number of how a character feels.
>>153366766>But who decides that?Me the reader. I read Superboy Prime from Identity Crisis to Legion of 3 worlds and I can solidly that no choosing to redeem Superboy Prime is dumb and pointless.
>>153366782>Me the reader.Wrong answer, the writer decides actually.
>>153366766>He clearly wants to be better now.No if anything he's backsliding and legitimately retreating into his fantasy world.Like that's what this really is right? A true blue honest self-insert fanfic where Superboy Prime is effectively Y/N.
>>153366785Well Geoff Johns already decided Superboy Prime was a whiny loser with some of the most talked about comics of the decade.
>>153366802And then started planting the seeds for his redemption even before Death Metal, focusing on the fact that he was a young comic nerd that made many mistakes, and never wanted things to turn out like that.Come on anon, keep up with Prime's lore.
>>153366707>But on the scale of Superboy Prime?yes, easily, and in substantial excess.one thing you've got to keep in mind is fans of the characters Prime killed often act like those characters are still dead whenever Prime is mentioned. they are still upset over a (subsequently reverted - MULTIPLE TIMES) canon death of their blorbos and act like their very much alive blorbos are still dead.that anon just inflated his kills substantially because he is absolutely desperate to make others as angry about a 20-year-old comic as they are. the most ridiculous part is it was Geoff Johns himself who gave Prime redemptive closure at the end of the Sinestro Corps War. in 2006. again - this was all completed 20 years ago.there is a bit of a persistent problem here in that the art for Infinite Crisis makes Prime look like a 50 year old slightly overweight man (see: >>153365750) so it did not properly convey that he's a young teenager. the juxtaposition of him ACTING like a child and LOOKING like an old man made people think he was just a childish adult, and hate him accordingly.
>>153366848>Sinestro Corps Warnope, i had the order backwards. this leads into the arc where he gets redeemed, but Geoff Johns was already putting the groundwork down by this point.again, SuperBOY Prime was a child ripped out of his home universe and thrown into Crisis on Infinite Earths, then ripped out again and thrown into Infinite Crisis.
>>153366747Buddy... he's been living one for years, even before they brought him back this time. The war's over. You lost.
>>153367145>he's been living one for yearHas he tho?
>>153367160Yes. He hasn't actually been the violent murderous brat he was in Infinite Crisis in years. Certain people still haven't gotten over it, but... it's been over for them for a while.
>>153349686>tries to sacrifice Prime as a virgin>doesn't work because of Laurie
>>153336207I was looking at something else, saw that cover out of the corner of my eye, and thought it was Chef.
>>153336198Hol up.If SBP can read comics shouldn't he already know what she was doing in this issue by next issue?
>>153367444>implying Prime ever got to do it before his Earth was destroyedWhy do you think he was so mad? He missed out.
>>153367563i don't think he's THAT up to date, but he does very much know he's in a comic. then again, given >>153339871 it's possible he actually is aware and gives himself the vulnerability precisely because he knows it's coming.>>153343985>>153344861>both of them are stranded outside of their home universe in a world they mostly know as observersi'm actually starting to ship them what the hell is happening to me? is this how fujo disease spreads?
When is the last time a Superman storytime got this close to the bump limit?
>>153367563If he read the solicits, yeah. But maybe he doesn't because he doesn't want to spoil himself. And he's in the comic itself, so he's a participant in the story, not an observer. Then again, who knows how in-universe comics work in DC
>>153367682Last month when Prime took over.
>>153367810>Prime as the substitute Supes substantially boosts the popularity of the book all over the internetNo wonder the Prime haters are so out of sorts. They didn't even have time to get their rabble rousing "um ackshually war crimes" tumblr blogs ready before he'd already turned into a fandom darling. Poor sods didn't stand a chance.
>>153356311Same way they have Batman toys in DC, son.Pay attention.
>>153367880It's insane how much goodwill Prime has gained for punching the batkek. This shit happened OVER 5 YEARS AGO and people still remember it so fondly that DC decided to give Prime some more spotlight.IF (big if) Williamson manages to stick the landing for this arc, Superboy Prime could go from strawman villain during big events to beloved hero with his own niche.
>>153368192It also probably helps that Dan Mora makes basically everyone look attractive, and he's on Superman right now.And to be fair to Prime... he really DID save the multiverse from the Batman who Keks.I have been quite pleased with this little arc so far. If it was yet another Superfam member doing yet another "can I fill his shoes" plot in Supes' absence I think nobody would give a shit about the book. This is both a way to explore and develop Prime outside of a crisis (...I hope) and something very fresh for a "Superman is MIA" arc. Feels a bit like World's Finest in tone, which I tend to like a lot because World's Finest is super fun while retaining the capacity to get more serious when it needs to.
>>153358935Marvel actually hates Gwenpool with the sort of burning passion you only see in Spider- characters. They would prefer that she didn't exist.
>>153369162Understandable given how they fell for the cosplayer meme again.
>>153336122Prime, you have to read Bone.
>>153366558What about Bushido, Baby Wildbeest and all the Green Lanterns he killed? All the LoSH he killed will most likely come back later though.
>>153366362He killed a good Zod and a pregnant Lana Lang and a green lantern on Earth 15. And then blew up all of Earth 15 out of spite, killing billions.
>>153336110Nice, The drawings definitely help. But I'm really enjoying this arc.
>>153370031But apparently that doesn't count because we didn't see literally billions of people.Maybe that earth was inhabited by like 3 people and also maybe that pregnant woman died of natural causes and it only looked like Superboy Prime was killing her?Because for some fucking reason I am so invested in this superboy prime redemption arc where he is already redeemed from a previous tie-in issue from 6 years ago like oh my god how cool is that?
>>153367666Give in anon
>>153368192I think it is because of how shit and hypocritical the universe/Didio and Co got.Barry rebooted the universe destroying nearly all history, and infinite crisis itself called post crisis characters "fakes".
>>153370031Dude let it go, from Prime perspective those were just fictional characters, he already proved himself against the Anti Monitor and the Batman WL saving way more lives than he ever killed. The heroes aren't completely blameless imprisoning a mentally volatile Kryptonian teen in isolation twice wasn't the solution, he very clearly needed help and this coming from someone that found post Infinite Crisis Prime annoying and whining
>>153367880It's literally one guy too which is even funnier
>>153370016But even if they did, we the readers still experienced their visceral and gory deaths and I think that ultimately matters more than some half assed dialogue about how murder isnt murder if the person is brought back to life.
>>153370207Saying it's just one guy is just rhetorical misdirection on your part. You have no way of knowing that and you're gonna find out how when this story ends and nobody cares.
>>153366819this is /co/, tourists and brazillians doesn't read comics, they follow shitty comic book blogs and shills MCU and Miles Morales.>>153367627Peej and he will do it at the end as reconciliation, trust the plan.
>>153370192I'd be very surprised if they actually acknowledge that maybe they should've tried helping Prime earlier instead of jailing him like he's the devil. The solitary GL cube was honestly cruel and unusual.
>>153365750Nah, he was deliberately mauling them.>in part because fans hate being disingenuously caricatured as a strawman villain and thus hated him in Infinite CrisisEverything Prime did in universe, was something Didio and Johns did out of it.
>>153370192You see what I'm talking about when I'm saying how performative this is?The exact same shit happened during Death Metal, all these weirdos come out of the wood acting like erasing Crisis of Infinite Earth would somehow magically fix canon to a comic book paradise for true fans of DC comics. And four years before that was the exact thing with Metal and acting like that will magically fix canon by reintroducing post-crisis survivors. It's the same shit everytime and it's not coincidence this type of posts usually show up for Scott Snyder and his friends.I'm beginning to think these guys are nothing but industry plants, hacks who get credit for some other guy's high concept idea.
>>153370192To be fair, the Prime that was defeated and humiliated in IC wasn't ready for any type of redemption, while during Countdown him sperging out like nobody in the multiverse ever did was precisely the point. The stars had to allign in a way nobody could predict 20 years ago to allow the current redemption arc Prime is undergoing and even now the risk of him embracing his murderhobo instincts is always present
>>153370228All the complaining for the past two Superman threads have all read like they came from the same poster
>>153370325Yeah but it probably wasn't you stupid fuck, people were probably pointing out the obvious problem of trying to redeem the irredeemable. Also you guys have been annoying for the entire time since then, constantly spamming the same thread of trying to get people write superboy prime smut with vixen, katana, and Zatanna.Only an astroturfed campaign can get away with this shit.
>>153370313>Prime is undergoing and even now the risk of him embracing his murderhobo instincts is always presentBecause the status quo is a massive problem, and talentless writers have "skeletons in the closet" bonner. Now, the case of Superior Spider-Man, whether you like it or not, is kinda emblematic. I find it absurd that they made him a villain again with a deus ex machina magic, because realistically, the character had evolved so much that it was no longer possible to use him as a villain in that state.Prime can become an assassin again at any time in the wrong hands.
>>153338782
>>153366848>ACTING like a child and LOOKING like an old man made people think he was just a childish adult, and hate him accordingly. It was deliberately, Alexander Luthor stopped being a twink
>>153370359Which is why i feel that the only way to stop this is have Prime sacrificing himself through his own Death of Superman Arc, it is a good way for him to go out with a bang and prove that he is a hero. Also, DiDio and harras aren't there anymore to fuck over prime.
>>153370400He already did that in Death Metal Secret Origin.
>>153370348has the primehater schizo finally snapped? read on for more>Dan Mora...Joshua Williamson...Superboy Prime...I will destroy you all>reeeeeeeeee>dies of a heart attack
>>153370591>Prime redemption feels like a whiplash>You are a schizo reeee. What causes somebody to be like this? It is like DiDio.
