This episode really was the show's natural conclusion in retrospect
>>153344977This was the episode I dropped the show for good. Even as a dumb teenager I knew it would only get worse from here.
>>153344977I remember when it first aired a lot of people thought it legitimately might be the show's finale.
>>153344977The follow up was even better where Randy and Sharon stay in a loveless marriage where neither one is happy because “when you’re older you learn it’s better to just keep doing what you’re good at.” They saw their zombie status and don’t care since it makes them money.
>>153345580I thought it was at least going to begin a new arc for the show, but it went right back to normal with the next episode
>>153344977They chickened out big time. Season 15 imo is the first bad season of the show. 1-10 is the golden age, 11-14 were still very good. Something felt off throughout the whole thing. It got a bit better afterwards and then season 18 was even worse and it never properly recovered
>>153345854I actually thought the show got better at season 18, and a little while during 19. Then it got really unwatchable and took a nose dive at season 20
>>153345728Wow, sad
They need to end it now
>>153344977It was the natural conclusion, it was signaling that the show was done and staying to watch more SP would be a waste of time. For fuck’s sake, they had a whole song about moving on.>But I’ve been afraid of changing ‘cause I’ve built my life around you
>>153347142Then why do they keep trying to larp as edgy rebellious types when they haven't done so in years?
>>153347006It ends when Matt & Trey SAY it ends.
>>153345854Which season is the covid one?The show was never the same after that. Also when they made Mr. Garrison the President because of a retarded bit they did that they thought wouldn't affect the show because they were wagering the plot on IRL politics.
>>153349619Which is never
>>153349926Season 24
>>153345854Season 19 for me is the one the show goes to shit, all the stuff it added just made the show worse and it never recovered.
>>153350455It's eventually. South Park lives and dies with Trey Parker, and I doubt he'll still want to be pumping out new episodes well into his eighties.
>>153345948I binged the entire show recently. I was enjoying it until 19, where the cracks really started to show but it still had some good episodes. 20 is where everything fell apart and it hasn't truly recovered since, even if it hasn't quite hit that low since.
>>153344977I basically treated this episode as the series finale. I still watched a couple episodes that came after here and there, but eventually stopped watching altogether and have not watched a single episode of South Park in well over 10 years. Garrison as Trump, Stan's dad starting a weed farm, PC principal stuff, never seen any of that. "You're Getting Old" was as far as I could tell the writers telling me that they were done with the show creatively and thus that's where I mentally zoned out. Same thing happened with Rick & Morty. When the season 5 finale aired and Evil Morty basically went on a fourth-wall breaking monologue of the writers basically saying "yeah we're done with this shit creative wise, we're just gonna keep pumping out episodes because it makes hella money" I was done. Haven't watched an episode of Rick & Morty since and have no desire to ever watch one again.
>>153345854S15 at least had The Poor Kid which is a rare exception that's as good as golden age episodes and all they had to do was have endearing Kenny/sister moments.>>153345948Season 18 is when the show became completely unwatchable for me
>>153344977Imagine the STENCH
>>153352251Yeah, right. The show will end abruptly with them
>>153345794Now, I don't even know what they're trying to do
>>153352251>I doubt he'll still want to be pumping out new episodes well into his eighties. He'd milk it for as long as he lives.
>>153344977yeah this episode was where i dropped this garbageit was unwatchable
>>153353747Unf~
It was fine until season 18.
>>153344977I absolutely agree, and the episode really got to me in a similar situation, when my parents almost broke up and I decided to get into therapy for feeling no joy in absolutely everything. The ultimate indicator for depression: Your favorite activities stop being fun to the point you don't want to do anything.
>>153345337"Even as a dumb teenager I knew it would only get worse from here." I guess you were too dumb to see the irony about that.
I was coming down South Park, going to have myself a time at the local bar the other day. It's the kind of place where working class guys, truckers, and farmers go to unwind after an honest day's work, a real salt-of-the-Earth type of place. We were watching a local high school football game on the TV and one of the players happened to be named Harris, which prompted people in the bar to start talking about Kamala Harris. My dad (a coal-miner) says "y'know, I've voted red since the Reagan administration but I really should have given her a chance. I'm a fool for being so racist and sexist that I couldn't vote for a Brown woman, she was clearly the best choice." Then the local gun store owner, who is also the head of the local KKK chapter, said “I can’t believe I’m saying this, but we need to impeach Trump and Vance and replace them with Kamala.” I look around and my face is stunned. All of these hardcore Trump supporters are shaking their heads in agreement. I heard a couple “yes, sir” and “damn straight”. Everyone started nodding and agreeing, and we were talking about how she's not a billionaire so she understands the plight of the middle class. We all call her Middle Class Kamala around these parts.
>>153354663This is actually a decent copypasta. Congrats
South Park peaked in season 3. Everything that came after is bad. Yes, Trey and Matt are both wrong about their own creation.
>>153352251>I doubt he'll still want to be pumping out new episodes well into his eighties.Money, anon, money.
>>153355252>Yes, Trey and Matt are both wrong about their own creation. This happens more often than you'd think, but especially with people who specialize in edgy/comedic commentary. It turns out that trying to be constantly cynical and insincere really rots your brain. Who'd have thunk?
>>153355252I disagree because I find the first seasons shitty. It was a novelty and fun when it came out but these days they are the worst episodes. But honestly, I don't like rewatching South Park in general, its one of those shows where you just lose interest eventually. You get cynical enough, you don't need a show to be cynical for you.
>>153344977You killed South Park. You didn't have to keep watching but you did. The episode after this one was Matt and Trey basically admitting that they're going to keep milking the IP as long as retards keep giving them views.
>>153344977Why are Americans so obsessed with poop?
>>153356108What a pretentious argument
>>153351535You just made me realize that 19 and the current season both have the significance of being dickridden by people invested only in the political satire while feeling alienating to longtime fans.Hell, Matt and Trey did an interview where they basically called this season the inverse of 19 in terms of who they were aiming at for the satire.
>>153356859>significance of being dickridden by people invested only in the political satire while feeling alienating to longtime fans.Holy fucking shit, it was annoying basically having to not criticize the season or risk being called a Trumper.
>>153344977Happens more often than it should.
>>153344977I thought this was a finale at the time.
>>153344977The show needs to just be put out of its misery at this point. And not just South Park but Comedy Central as a whole. Damn channel has been on life support showing 3 shows 24/7 and the same 5 commercials to a skeleton crew of an audience for years now. It's more mercy to end all of it at this point...like watching a cancer patient whither away.
>FEELS LIKE I PBBBBPBPBPBTTBTPBHTHBT
>next time on south park: the polar opposite message
>>153357729What is this supposed to mean?
>>153357630>instant boner
>>153357928It's the bar being lowered. Thankfully our lord JC brought it back.
>>153358452Praise be to James Cameron, as James Cameron is our lord and savior. I humbly request James Cameron raises the bar once again, so that the world (and more importantly South Park) can be good again
>>153344977What? I was told by numerous anons that going on forever was a GOOD thing!
>>153359480No one has ever said this
>>153359524You'd be surprised.
>>153357443Word,Timmy
>>153360668Not about this show
>>153357401>hyping up Sauron only to retcon him into a shota dindu wtf?
