Watching this show for the first time as there's been a bit of resurgence in interest regarding it of late so thought I'd bite the bullet.It's actually pretty good. Writing is juvenile and perfunctory but the action kicks ass and the alien designs are gnarly. I'm a sci-fi geek so that probably helps. Currently starting season 3, the Ghostfreak reveal was awesome.If I'm still interested by the end, is Alien Force worth watching? I understand that one's a bit darker so might be more of what I'm looking for from this concept as opposed to summer road trip? I had its DS game as a kid but remember nothing about it.

It was good to start with but as it went on it became more and more transparent that it was just a toy commercial. He started yelling the names of all the aliens so kids would know what to bug their parents for, and the Omnitrix gimmicks (ultimate transformations and so on) were in pure service of the toyline at the expense of storytelling. It's basically impossible to watch any incarnation of this show beyond Alien Force and not feel like you are being advertised to.Then came the reboot and they abandoned all pretence and literally allowed the toy manufacturers to dictate how the aliens should be designed (RIP Stinkfly).

The action and visuals take a big hit IMO but there's more of a focus on telling an ongoing narrative, for better or worseI've always preferred the original show but AF is worth trying out at least

I'm also rewatching the original show lately, currently on season 3 too. I had forgotten how they used to take their time to introduce new aliens back then...I don't remember much of the plot of Alien Force and Ultimate Alien, but I remember not liking that Ben and the retcons they did, so I don't know if I should give it a second chance or jump straight to Omniverse, which felt fresher and more fun to me back then.To end, I imagine the answer but I'll throw the question anyway: Is there anything worth watching in the reboot series?
