>That Speed Racer sequel where his son went to a racing school
>>153357272The show that finally pissed off Tatsunoko enough to retake total control of the entire franchise.
>>153357287>The show that finally pissed off Tatsunoko enoughconsidering it was a batter show than the 90s one, thats a shame
>>153357272Shitty CGI even from the time.
>>153359352Even so, breach of contract was not something they took lightly.
>>153357272>Speed racerIsn't that Meteoro?
>>153361808It's Mach GoGoGo
>Rex ended up like this
>>153357272>hey we need a boring as fuck show to put on a channel nobody watches at a time of day when most people are asleep
>>153359844What breach of contract was it?
>>153357272Isn’t this the show where Trixie was the main villain?
>>153363982YesAnd Captain Terror is a CEO
>>153363982Wow. Totally character assassination.
>>153357272Why does the lead look like a Mii?
>>153365717She was in an accident that left her scarred and became evilThen, Speed Jr and friends travelled back in time and prevented the accident and created a timeline where she's just their momThe final boss is the CEO who worked for her as the main villain of the first season, who was implied to have been Captain Terror Leader of the Car Acrobatic Team, turned into a crazy cyborg
>>153357272Man, I remember watching this so long ago. Sometimes I think about that technology where the car becomes invisible so it can't be detected by infrared, heat signatures, or something like that, and I still don't understand how it's supposed to work. It's weird how some things just get stuck in your mind, even the most useless things.
>>153363957Basically, after the live-action movie, Speed Racer Enterprises (the people running the Western side of the marketing) wasn't supposed to be making any new SR media, but they did with this show and Tatsunoko sued for breach of contract.
I remember this and it sucked ass, couldn't even give us a cute female friend for people to draw porn of, instead they had to make her black and have ugly short hair. The old dude that was his mentor or whatever was voiced by speeds orginal va but who the fuck cares?
>>153366584Did the live action movie really fuck with the canon or something for them to dislike that much? I thought it was mostly well received viewer wise so I didn't think it would get such a negative response from their company.
Are there any good cartoons about racing?
>>153367843There was Rumba Racer. But only for like one and half season
>>153367439>Did the live action movie really fuck with the canon or somethingNo, it was simply a contract agreement decided that at some point, the West would stop making their own SR media.
>>153359352>the 90's showare we talking about the japanese one or the fred wolf one? I wish we'd discuss fred wolf speed racer more often. It's such a bizarre outlier in the series.
>>153367843>Wacky Races>Motorcity>Tron Legacy (sort of)
>One of the teachers was friends with Speed>This comes up exactly once in the entire show
>>153367843>>153368091>>153369359Hot Wheels World Race and Acceleracers
>>153357272Is this one of the biggest wastes of animation to ever be created? Almost no one knows that this cartoon exists, what few people do know that it exists think it's shit, and it got it's creators in to legal trouble.
>>153363982Mama Robotnik was the main villain? Might have to check it out.
>Yu-Gi-Oh GX>Ultimate Muscle>ThisWhat was up with 00s sequels and schools? Was Harry Potter THAT popular?
>>153369776Don’t forget UBOS.
>>153367843Nascar Racershttps://youtu.be/Z3wMjTWYVf4IGPXhttps://youtu.be/63hFWe2N0mUYour pichttps://youtu.be/QwHkv1NnXwIRedline (film)https://youtu.be/2t26m_Q6ENo
>>153357272Was this the one that was on nicktoons network
>>153369856Yeah.
>>153369652>unresolved cliffhanger's in your path
>>153369348Japanese one. The Fred Wolf series was fucking bizarre, but that's what you get from the guy who adapted the TMNT.
>>153370074Don’t remind me anon, what am unfortunate end to a ridiculously good movie series.
>>153369776dHarry Potter proved it work, but the trend was bound to happen as an escapist fantasy. "Hey kids, think school is boring? Well, what if these characters went to an exciting school about things you like? Wouldn't that be relatable but also really cool?"
>>153369680When I was around 9-10 years old, I watched the entire series in one day. The entire show played on tv from 8am-3pm. It was the only time I had ever watched tv for 7 hours straight. I had always find it rather odd that the characters slept without blankets or bedsheets. Or how the “virtual track” can create a portal to another dimension, including one with no oxygen. Or how the main villian has a massive pool of raw crude oil in his office.
>>153370380>>153369776>implying Japan needed HP to popularize school settingsThat's been a thing long before Rowling did it. And it's also an easy plot hook for a "training the next generation of legacy characters" stories that are GX, UM, and even this American speed racer show.
>>153365833Time travel? Sounds ridiculous.
>>153371093>it's also an easy plot hook for a "training the next generation of legacy characters" storiesIt's lame and geeky. How about some on-the-job-training where they're learning the thing as they're doing it? Like going on a quest with their squad of friends or fulfilling tasks given to them by a higher authority.
>>153371504Anon, I don't know how to tell you this, but there are more Speed Racer shows with time travel than without
