>Rogue Trooper is getting a movie>Comic fans may not like it because it's not from "the big two">Animation fans may not like not because it's not a colorfull kids movie>2000AD fans may not like it because in their minds they wanted it to look like that one old animated 2000AD advert + might be aware that David Bowie's son who made that awful Warcraft movie is behind it
>>153357387>AnimationIt's dead.
>>153357387I’ll download it. I haven’t got into the universe of Rogue Trooper comics though. I’m sure Taika will make a successful Dredd though.
>>153357387i want my abc warriors movie so transformers fans finally learn
>>153357387It's a weird motion capture film made using Unreal Engine 5 just give uncanny valley vibesRogue Trooper is an odd one for 2000AD since it's had multiple iterations and is probably the anthology's second most well-known character but he doesn't really have any great story arcs
>>153357387I didn't know they were making a Rogue Trooper movie. Also never saw that animated 2000AD advert until now, thanks for making me aware of that. New movie definitely won't look that cool.
>>153358677>I didn't know they were making a Rogue Trooper movie.Don't get your hopes up anon you teaser doesn't fill me with confidencehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=byd5PRryi_Y
>>153357634I’m surprised they didn’t make it more stylized. The comic art wasn’t particularly wacky, but the hyper-realistic aesthetic gives it a feel similar to the CGI starship troopers from the 2010s.
>>153357387The song implies she would have a different hairstyle.
>>153358932I think it depends on the character, some are less normal looking than others like pic
>>153360628another older set of images seems to be the main character of Rogue and the other GI or Dolls like Venus
>>153360667seems the main cast are rather normal looking, but side character humans like Mr Brass and Mr Bland are going to be more cartoony*An odd decision by the film-makers imo.
>>153358932You know how videogames try to be photorealistic to be taken seriously by normies?Given how this movie is made under the Unreal engine, the mindset seems similar. The only people who'd ever wants a Rogue Trooper movie probably wanted it to look like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYUC79D6piw
>>153360690I think it's "videogame logic" oftentimes i feel like the MC has to look more like a normal humanoid compared to the side characters so the player can identify with them. Hence why so many protags are white toast cut and dry youg soldier guy with that one haircut.
>>153361003Most games don't give the MC a somewhat realistic look, but then side characters caricature features outside of maybe Dishonouredjust feels like an odd look, especially for a film
>>153357634The War Machine is legitimately the best Rogue Trooper stuff until the modern era, and Friday's late stuff against the Karvanu is ... I mean it's not great, but it's at least as good as a lot of the filler arcs Rogue had on the search for the Traitor General, alright it's not Cinnabar, but it's solid warporn shit, and it has Venus telling him to shut the fuck up and stop being so tacticool all the time, and it has Eightball, who is a better version of the GI officer pistol concept from the old Rogue run. It's a real shame literally everything between The War Machine and the start of the Karvanu arc is 90s extreeem garbage, and it's a real shame that the modern iteration of Rogue is only truly great at times and not always (but then so was the original), and it's a real shame that the 86ers got weird around the end and it's a real shame that Tor Cyan ended just as it got extremely readable and good.I don't know what they're adapting, I suspect it's going to be vidya-level plotting because they're a vidya company, but it is a real shame if it's not taking from the best runs. Also that Bagman scooting around bit hurts to look at. It's very Michael Bay.
>>153361530I think the Rebellion considered the Friday Rogue Trooper stuff outside of the initial Dave Gibbons War Machine storyline to be best left forgotten, since I don't think they even sell a trade of that stuff, just the original run, War Machine, and some of the later spin-offs like Jeagir or 86s,I did like the recent Garth Ennis stories but those were firmly placed in the continuity of the original Finley Day run of the character
>>153361835Yeah the Ennis stuff has been some of his best work I think. I can't blame Rebellion for wanting to forget Friday, though I still would a final story or two. Hell I'd take more Tor Cyan if it was as good as his last run.
>>153361864Unfortunately, Rebellion seem to be pretty stuck on Rogue's hunt for the Traitor General, which I get it since it was the period the series was the most successful, but it does get a bit boring.
>>153360628>>153360667I don't know why but looking at these imagines, it sort of screams AI slopwork, something to do with their faces But seeing rogue trooper getting a movie is cool though, maybe we get a another dredd movie as well at some point
>>153362012We are getting another Dredd movie. directed by taika watiti
>>153362461>SpoilerThat could work since Dredd can be very silly at times, but I don't think he will get the balance right since he always prefers to go for Farce above all
>>153362461>>153362581I would unironically be into a Judge Dredd "League of Fatties" movie from Waititi
>>153362666He will probably do a Simp storyline
Rogue Trooper could have been excellent if it stopped at the peace ceremony.Otherwise, the only comic I remember liking in the main modern magazine is Brink. Megalopolis in the Megazine is also good. But Rok of the Rovers seems to have vaguely peaked my interest in sports comics. Helium is a consistent read at least.
>>153363573The current progs are spinning its wheels to start the next Dredd epic in a month and it shows
>>153362461>>153362581>>153362666Say what you want about Stallone Dredd, but man, it got the chaos and insanity of Mega-City 1 down to a Tee. Urban Dredd was better overall though, a bit more on the serious side howeverYou know what I really REALLY would like though? A Sam Slade, Robo-Hunter movie
>>153364225still need to read this series
>>153365097If you poke around the 2000AD Shop enough, you can find a bundle of the two volumes digitally for like 10 bux even. It's pretty fun. Like imagine all the more humorous elements of Judge Dredd on full displayJust got done with Day Of The Droids, about a mobster robot who's trying to take over everything and eventually goes up against the Android Union led by a talking Molotov Cocktail
>>153362461Yeah, just like how we're getting a Michael Jackson's monkey movie from Taika and an Akira from Taika and so on...
>>153364225>>153365782Is Robo Hunter supposed to be set in Dredd's universe?
>>153367817yes there even cross over at certain points
>>153362461It’s gonna be so good.
>>153367817Most 2000AD is at least Dredd adjacent.
>>153364225>Urban Dredd was better overall thoughNo it wasn't.
>>153369395As a film, it was much better than Stallone's Dredd
>>153370088Stallone’s Dredd would have been best if they had actually gone with Schwarzenegger and Judge Death. That’s why the video game adaptation of the movie has the final boss being Judge Death.
>>153370297>SchwarzeneggerTerrible casting choice
>>153360628>>153360667Oh, no....
>>153371338You’re dumb. They would have made a franchise then and there.
>>153357387>>153358710It looks fine. Why are you people so whiny and sensitive about everything? It's a female trait.
>>153372820Schwarzenegger only made one franchise in his whole life, lil' zoomie.
>>153372820I don't want them to "make a franchise," I want them to make a good Judge Dredd movie. Arnie is a terrible choice to play Dredd, worse than Stallone.
>>153373075Except for Conan, Predator and Kindergarten Cop. You must just pretend to be a 90s kid.
>>153370088It most certainly was not.
NTA>>153373250>ConanThe second movie flopped>PredatorHe was in one, the franchise was built by the comics after the second movie flopped, until there was enough interest to do Aliens vs Predator. Predator becoming a "franchise" didn't work out until over a decade after Arnie did his one and done.>Kindergarten CopHow is that even a franchise? Is this bait?
>>153373474>Conanthe third movie wasn't great either, but they still made it, and now apparently they're making a fourth with him>Kindergarten Copit is technically a franchise as Dolph Lundgren was in the sequel 26 years later, tho Arnie wasn't in it>>153373075>>153373250you guys forgot the Expendables
>>153375027Arnie didn't make the Expendables either.
>>153375110Isn't he barely in those?
Burger hereWe had the speculator crash, Death of Superman, the Diamond monopoly, Deathmate, etcWhat's the excuse for your industry?
>>153375599The UK comics industry is doing fine
>>153375563>>153375110he's in all three of them, or the first three, I think there's probably like sixteen of them nowhe couldn't really be in them much because the first two were made while he was still the Governator
>>153358710>>153360628>>153360667>Final Fantasy again
>>153375599well shit you crashed the wider market and that destroyed Marvel UK, which was doing fine but didn't sell as much reprint as the beancounters would have liked so they closed it down rather than continue making original titlesat the same time your art styles became the dominant form for 2000AD and other Bri ish indies because all the "superstar" artists none of whom has ever done anything but comics in any meaningful sense were trying to ape what had previously sold (during the speculator bubble) and editors couldn't understand why it no longer sold because they never knew why it sold in the first place, and the writing tended to skew toward that low-level aping of action movie "dialogue" and "plot", which turned readers awayat the same time Bri ish talent was being sucked away by the promise of higher wages and more exposure in the US, which had a self-defeating aspect not just because it took the best away from UK work for a while, but also because it made halfwits who would otherwise be long forgotten like Millar and Morrison into "stars" (don't fucking @ me, they've both said their 2000AD work was dogshit)pretty much the worst thing the UK comic market did to itself was Tank Girl, and that was only because it's a one-note character with increasingly shit writing and bad art that happened to get a movie adaptation people actually watched, Lori Petty 4 lyfe and all that, but the movie's a million miles better than the source material and the movie's not great>>153375664yeah I mean last anybody was releasing figures, the Beano was outselling the top US comic every month at about the same total cost for four times the storyand we'll always have the vibrating bum-faced goats
>>153375941>like Millar and Morrison into "stars" (don't fucking @ me, they've both said their 2000AD work was dogshit)I think Morrison still thinks highly of Zenith but yeah them and Garth don't have the best view of 2000AD work, though I think for different reasons.Millar still seems to like reading 2000AD Progs going by is youtube channel
