You'd expect it to be easy drama to exploit for the writers but instead they usually the regular male version of it; Peter Parker being replaced by Paul, the hunchback losing Esmerelda to Phoebus etc.
Its basically beating a dead horse at this point that does not garner all that much reaction / engagement but if you were around back around 10 years ago you remember the absolute nuclear engagement the cuckquean storyline gave the fandom of Star Vs making the show spike in popularity and online posts about it, its LITERALLY free money.

Because masculine protagonists are banned

Marco was not particularly masculine though?

I would assume it's partly because these days it's difficult to write love triangles and stories of heartbreak without people sexualizing and fetishizing them, steering the discussion away from the emotional side and more into the physical, which naturally lends itself easier to the male mindset. The fact that you called it "cuckqueaning" speaks volumes to the state of online discourse about such plots.

The emotional and physical are intertwined in jealousy plots. That intertwining is exactly what made the cuckquean storyline in Star Vs. so explosive, that scene in particular where marco kisses jackie while star is holding his hand. Your complaint about 'fetishization' sounds like you want permission to feel the emotions without acknowledging the physical aspect that makes those emotions raw. You can't have the emotional payoff without the physical sting, and pretending otherwise is why we keep getting the same dead horse male version.

And I agree with that, to an extent. A story of heartbreak can easily be made that much more visceral when punctuated with a kiss, a hand-hold, general physical affection, and so on. That's not what I mean by fetishization. The terms "cuck" and "cuckquean" are deeply linked to sex, and these days any time a story presents a love triangle people inevitably start using one of those two terms, reducing the drama into nonexplicit fetish content. Marco kissing Jackie while holding Star's hand is not discussed as "Oh, poor Star, that must really hurt her heart.", it's discussed as "Oh, poor Star, it must hurt to know that Marco is choosing to fuck Jackie and flaunting it in front of her." It's incredibly awkward for a writer to create any kind of love triangle when they know that people online are going to take it to sexual extremes.

The gynocracy only allows men to be humiliated over sexual performance

You're treating that as a reason for writers to avoid the storyline. That's like saying 'don't write tragic romances because people will make memes about them.' The Star Vs writers didn't control the fandom's language, but they did profit from the engagement.

Also let's be real about the word 'cuck' itself, its meaning has already shifted. These days, when people / fandoms call a character a 'cuck' or 'cuckquean', they're rarely talking about the literal fetish. They mean someone who invests emotionally, gives a lot of thought and care to another person, and gets nothing in return while that person is with someone else. It's about unrequited emotional labor and not just sex. Marco making out with Jackie while Star holds his hand and watches while holding back tears like a good little cuckold? That's not a sex scene. But it is Star pouring herself into someone who's mentally and physically elsewhere so basically being a mega cuck.
