I tried this and didn't like it.
Could its fans explain what's supposed to be so great about it? Because I really don't get it.

The art is great, the action is really good.
If only jumped on in the last year, so I can't really say much about the many years of this run.
But when I've read have been very fun action-packed superhero comics with a fun premise of Moon Knight soliciting requests for superheroics at his Midnight Mission, and side characters and cameos have been used quite well.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Moon Knight.

It takes what people liked about the character's past and put it together in a slightly different way
>People liked Mr. Knight and the street violence feel of Ellis' run, so Mr. Knight is basically Marc's default out-of-superhero suit look and the action scenes are mostly grounded
>Marc having DID is generally appreciated as something that sets him apart from other characters but it's often not used that well, basically just something that sets him up as having "the power of crazy", or sometimes kind of "diluting" Moon Knight into separate characters. In MacKay's run the other personalities are treated better and aknowledged as importants, but Marc is undoubtely the one in charge.

The run is also an easy jumping point since it starts with Marc having essentially no supporting cast (besides Resse which he grabs in issue 1), Khonshu being in Asgardian prison, and basically starting at rock bottom. You don't need much homework to catch up. It also has a strong initial hook with Marc founding a Mission instead of some nebulous "superhero living their live and shit happens".

The fact that Marc's religion and role as a priest of Khonshu is also regularly brought up (even though Khonshu is not very present in the first half) adds depth to the character since it's not only used to give Marc convenient powers when needed. It brings back some gravitas to the relationship between a man and his god (which is usually ignored in Marvel because of characters like Thor flying around, and some comics had MK be outright dismissive or buddy-buddy with Khonshu).

And of course the art in the comic is fairly solid and consistent (minus some issues).

I genuinely find cappuccio’s art to be one of the weakest elements of the run. It’s grotesque.

It's doing a LOT of damage control. That's always gets supporters. It's also does a lot of deep cuts, but in a way that's welcoming to newcomers. It's setting up a new supporting cast since the old one got nuked, and the new ones are likable. I am also a fan of the 8-Ball shenanigans once he's part of the main group.

I wouldn't describe it as grotesque. It's a bit more angular than average but the characters are drawn correctly, they don't look derpy when seen from up close, and the action is easy to follow yet dynamic enough to be interesting.

I do prefer Pramanik who has taken over since Vengeance of the Moon Knight and who has more interesting use of shadings and a more stylized way to draw MK himself, but Pramanik also draw women less "finely" than Cappuccio sometimes. Overall I think both artists serve well and the odd issue with another artist besides them isn't too bad.

I think it's not very satisfying at all of these things, but I can see what you mean.

See, this really makes it all clear.
It's not to my taste, as these factors are not decisive enough on their own for me, but now I know where its fans are coming from.

I like Cappichio's rendering style, and he does drama well, but the action is too frequently static and weightless.

He's not bad, but not great either.
I thought it was crazy how many people on reddit put Cappucino as the best Moon Knight artist of all time. Recency bias is a hell of a drug.

I like it because it feels like a natural progression of all the various variations of the character (especially Ellis, which I'm still pissed that they've never reprinted his run). I'm also kind of a sucker for Egyptian Mythology and it wears that shit on it's sleeve

In a way too, it kind of feels very 90's in almost a "Azrael" kind of of way
